{{helpme}}

Hello, I recently opened a new account to conform with Wikipedia policies on who can contribute. So far I have not used it to do any edits or new contributions. I have a few questions before I do.

First, I contributed an article under the old account I was using, which was blocked, as I said, because it didn't conform to Wikipedia policy. I was under the impression that the entire article was blocked, but when I did a regular search for the name of the person, it turned up as part of the content. However, when I merely did a search of the person's surname, it gave me a list that did not include that entry. I'm unclear whether the entry is live or not. The subject of the article is "Mark Raymond Harrington." Can you let me know if it is live? Can it be edited to add, for example, a photo?

Second, I've been trying to see if there is a way to delete the old account I was using. I am concerned that I might be disqualified for having two accounts. This is the account I intend to use from now on. Can you let me know how to proceed to stay within guidelines? Will I have to change user names, or am I OK simply not using the old account?

Is it possible to attribute the article to the new account, or am I better off just leaving it as is?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is this the article? Mark_Raymond_Harrington? That one is indeed live. I'm not sure articles can be blocked, but they can be protected or deleted, neither of which has occurred to that one. You can add content (such as an image) to it, yes. About your account, you cannot delete it, but I'm sure if you do not use it again it will not be much of an issue. That is, unless the account has been used for vandalism or other disruptive purposes. You should leave the {{retired}} tag on the old userpage though, to indicate that it is no longer used. See CLEANSTART for the full policy. And yes, you may attribute that content to another account, but not this one, I believe, as it has already been created. If you really wanted, you could request a username change, moving everything over from the the old account, but you would not be able to use this username. If you really want, UNC has your details. If you have any other questions, feel free to join the IRC chat or place the template on this page again :)-- fetchcomms 22:07, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
