How does X work?

edit

I am not sure of how to make this page notable. Does it need more references? Or do I need to show its relevance and importance in India? Promise is a revolutionary concept; a first of its kind in India. It is featured regularly in magazines and has won a number of awards. It is now priming to be incorporated into the school curriculum. It has been a dramatic concept as it has changed the previous mindset of many parents who believed that only academics were needed for a child to succeed. The article needs verifiable references from reliable sources. Also, please see our notability guideline. Thanks!   — Jeff G.  ツ 17:21, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have modified the references and added links wherever possible to the actual sites. Can you tell me if the changes are now acceptable or if not, which other changes I would need to make? I also needed to know how to make the name of the article appear as a part of the link, and not just the superscripted number assigned to the particular reference, as is happening in the case of my references under the references section. Thank you. Looking4solutions (talk) 19:32, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The first reference (to [1]) doesn't seem to be related to the article topic, unless I missed something in my brief skim. Make sure the references are valid. As for the other references, it seems alright but I'm not entirely sure how verifiable it is. Make sure to check that. To help with your references, try reformatting them using the citation templates, either manually or by clicking on "Cite" in the editing box and choosing an appropriate template. Also, you may wish to read up on WP:PROD. You article has been proposed for deletion, but you seem to be against this. You can remove the prod template and provide a rationale for doing so. This will remove it from the list of proposed deletions and keep it from being deleted under that set of rules. However, it will still be able to be listed at WP:AfD. I hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions on my talk page or use another helpme template. GorillaWarfare talk 20:12, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I would like to change the name of the article to just Promise. I am not sure how to do this, as the article is already named, and there is already an article by this name in Wikipedia, but just a general dictionary explanation. Thank you. Looking4solutions (talk) 08:03, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

It may be "just a general dictionary explanation", but it's the most common use of that word in English and therefore gets pride of place per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. There is a Promise (disambiguation) where other articles with titles involving promise are listed. Favonian (talk) 08:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Promise- Personality Development for Kids

edit

The article Promise- Personality Development for Kids has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:12, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Promise (personality development for kids)

edit

A tag has been placed on Promise (personality development for kids), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
