Just a reminder...

But you indicated you'd work on Wikipedia:RfA Review/Reflect/Statistical Analysis/List21. Just making sure you haven't forgotten. Cheers, and happy editing. lifebaka++ 18:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm   Doing... it. Real life interrupted in the middle of working on it yesterday, then I was sick all day today. I'll get it finished tomorrow. Livitup (talk) 23:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Felt neccessary

I know this may sound strange but I would just like to thank you many times for your copyediting of McGill University so far. I could never have caught any of those mistakes you fixed; copyediting is a foreign language I can never understand. =p

Thanks, --Sunsetsunrise (talk) 01:58, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Ugh. Sorry it took so long to get to this point. I've made my last major CE pass through the article, and I'm starting to look at summarizing now. More info on Talk: McGill University. Livitup (talk) 16:17, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

We could use your help

Hi!

I'm a relatively new editor that has been working on the Melbourne Airport page. The article was recently upgraded to a Good Article, and the work of other editors has brought it up to a higher standard. While I had a stab at copy-editing, I am severly lacking in terms of experience. I noticed your name on WP:PRV, and was hoping, if your not too busy, that you could come over, have a look and maybe give use a few pointers. We particularly are hoping to get the prose looking a little more polished. Any help would really be appreciated. :D \ / (talk) 12:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I would love to. I'm an Aviation Project member too, so this is right up my wheelhouse. Give me a day or two to finish my current wiki-commitment, and I'll hop on over. Livitup (talk) 12:30, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Great! See you then - Thankyou \ / (talk) 12:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Foolkit?

Woah! What a repertoire! We are a group of lawyers in practice in Adelaide, South Australia - slowly becoming more Legal 2.0 - and hence the delve into Wikipedia to promote; advocate; air etc to the community at large, our website + legal search engine project - 'Foolkit'. Any visits you can manage to Foolkit - Legal [we have the ID 7,690,199 ...that's a lot of pages to edit...] - would be great. Already I will return tonight and cut the press release speak. Your page gives an excellent model and tone to follow.. Many thanks again for all your wiki community efforts and inspiration. Again - wow.

Rankin M. Smith, Sr. DYK

I was just verifying some DYK's and checked your entry Rankin M. Smith, Sr. and it came up just a little short 4.9X compared to the 5X rule. Wanted you to know asap so you could fix it. --Captain-tucker (talk) 09:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Copy edit request

Hi there. I just scrolled through the copyedit volunteers at WP:PRV, and thought you were perhaps one of the best to help me. I've got a nomination at FAC for History of Bradford City A.F.C.. User:Tony1 has added an "oppose" today on the grounds of criteria 1a and 2a, and wondered if you might look over the article for a possible copy edit? Your help, or guidance in finding another editor, would be much appreciated. Peanut4 (talk) 21:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Moar DYKs

Looking forward to more of your contributions in future, Mailer Diablo 19:31, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Lincolnshire, Illinois Copyedit

Could you please take a look at it? I am ultimately aiming for FA status, but I'm certainly weak in the copyediting sector. I'd really appreciate it if you can find time to aid me here.

--Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 03:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I was off the grid for a couple weeks and it looks like this is being handled by someone else right now. If they tail off or you want a second set of eyes, drop me a note here when they are done and I'll be happy to check it out. Livitup (talk) 15:01, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. Right now, a senior editor named Ukexpat is looking at the article and he's already leafed through all sections down to the history section for me, but as for right now he's offline, according to his userpage. Thank you for extending a hand; I think it best if I contact you, should he not return to check into the article.

Cheers, --Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 22:01, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Small question

Hi, could you please explain this user creation log? Your user rights log does not display user account creation rights.— dαlus Contribs /Improve 06:29, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

One does not need any special rights to create accounts. The "Account creator" bit just lets you create them faster than a standard threshold (which is set higher than an average human can create accounts at anyway.) I have an "admin" account on the Account Creation Tool and I help process the (usually small) number of requests for manual account creation. You do not need to be a WP admin to do this, check out WP:ACC/ADMINS if you are interested. Hope this helps! Livitup (talk) 13:50, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, that does clear things up for me. Besides that, on a different topic, your userbox list is kind of messed up. Several of the words(on my screen at least) have merged down into an unreadable black line of text. I would suggest you use the method I did. If you view my userpage, you'll see what I mean, other than that, I'm bad at describing it, as I kind of forgot what the userbox help page described it as.— dαlus Contribs /Improve 22:36, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the funny thing is that your userbox block looks screwed up on my current browser (IE7). There's two conflicting ways to make those kind of nested sets, one seems compatable with Mozilla based clients (the one you're using) and one with IE (the one I'm using). I've been meaning to play with it and see if there is one method that works with all browsers, but I haven't found it.  :( Livitup (talk) 14:12, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
That is quite unfortunate, I didn't know that. :/ — dαlus Contribs /Improve 05:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Lincolnshire, Illinois Copyediting Stuff...

Hey again, Livitup. I remember before I requested a copyedit from you concerning Lincolnshire, Illinois, but Ukexpat took it instead...well, he has been pretty prolific these days, but isn't finishing up with the article. It's been four days, which doesn't sound like a lot, but I am really impatient right now and I want to put it through WP:GAN.

He hasn't really "tailed" on me, but I was wondering if you could finish the job. Ukexpat did not finish the last four sections of the article, respectively being Economy and commerce, Culture and Media/Sports and Recreation, Safety, and Utilities. If you would like to take up the job, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks, --Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 15:36, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

PS I added a relatively short Government section as well. --Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 13:37, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Done Don't worry about it, Ukexpat returned to finish the article on request. Thanks again for offering, though. --Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 02:41, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

No problem, and I'm glad it all worked out for you Livitup (talk) 11:49, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

???

Look at the recent revert you made on this page. I don't understand why I'm sort of listed as one who's done vandalism in the edit summary that you wrote. Not that I'm upset. But it is sort of misleading. Killiondude (talk) 06:05, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that... I think you Twinkled it at the same time I Huggled it and we ended up in a sort of automatic tool-based edit conflict. Didn't mean to infer anything. :) Livitup (talk) 06:10, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I'm new to Wikipedia and don't know what I'm doing. I have a subpage that I would like to turn into an article but it desperately needs to be edited first. Can you help? Thanks for your time! Here's the page: User:Shilamiller/TaxBreak

Copyedit request

Hey, I saw your name under a list of general copyeditors. An article I have worked on heavily over the past few months,Frederick III, German Emperor, is currently at FAC and needs a final good copyedit before being supported. Is there anyway you can look over it and do your magic? Thanks if you can help! If you need anything I can try to help out one of your articles (I'm a GA Reviewer usually). Thanks again. --Banime (talk) 13:02, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Declined Speedy Deletion: Earl of Charlemont (ship)

Hello Livitup, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Earl of Charlemont (ship) - a page you tagged - because: Criterion G12 does not apply: the page is not an unambiguous copyright infringement, or there is other content to save. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any queries, please let me know. Ale_Jrbtalk 11:04, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the followup. Can you clarify your decision for me? Everything except the first and last sentence of this article are cut-and-paste copies of the web page listed as the only reference in the article. Even the first and last sentence are barely reworded from the text of the web page. Is the fact that the first and last sentences are slightly different enough to keep this out of copyvio territory?
I would appreciate your comments... more for my own education (to avoid incorrectly tagging pages in the future) than anything else. Livitup (talk) 13:19, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi there. I tend to only speedy delete for copyright violation where there has been no attempt to modify of format the text. The correct action would have been to remove the copied text and leave what was left. This would have left the article useless, however, so I rewrote it to de-copyvio it. Cheers, Ale_Jrbtalk 14:37, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert!

Thanks for catching the vandalism on my user page. I owe you one! Nburden (T) 17:24, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Can I has a copyedit? :) ResMar 00:06, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

The Guild of Copy Editors is in the middle of a month-long backlog elimination drive right now, and I'm participating. Sad to say, I'm busy clearing articles which have been tagged since 2008. I'd love to copyedit the Mauna Kea article, since it's a long one, and well tended, but I'm going to have to ask you to wait until October. I promise to get to it first thing though! No hard feelings if you get someone else to do it in the mean time, just let me know so I don't start working on it after it's already done. :) --Livitup (talk) 01:26, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

GOCE newsletter

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!

GOCE September 2010 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Participation report — We have 71 participants in the September drive. 95 people signed up for the July drive, and in May we had 36.

Progress report — We have been making solid progress in eliminating the 2008 articles from the backlog so far. If we continue to focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Overall volumes are lower than expected though, with nearly a thousand articles yet to be done if we are to meet our overall target. If you have not yet participated in the drive, we recommend you do so. If each person who signed up edits one article per day from now till the end of the month we can eliminate another 1,065 articles from the backlog. All contributions are appreciated.

Announcement: credit for 10k+ articles — Participants editing a 10k word article may claim credit for two 5k+ articles on the leaderboard. Those that edit a 15k word article may claim credit for three. Regardless, the article is still counted as a single article in the tallies.

Reminder — Articles from the Requests page can be included in your tally, even if they do not have a copy edit tag. This is a great place to go if you are interested in finding a higher quality article to work on.
