Is the first debut stage not important? Please open the debate.

It's Jakops' official position that the first debut stage is Mnet? Because you said the source was not clear, I provided the source, but suddenly you change the word that it's not important? 124.49.204.165 (talk) 12:43, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Yes it is not important their first debut stage should not be the lead but it can be in the body. Lightoil (talk) 12:46, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
then why did you write they release their first song, tippy toes on the page? Can I delete it? in your logic, it's not important eiter. 124.49.204.165 (talk) 12:50, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
I did not write that someone else wrote that. Furthermore their first single is more noteworthy than their first stage. Lightoil (talk) 12:53, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
I think the first performance is more meaningful? What is the standard of whether you mean important or not?
If you didn't fill it out, can I erase it? 124.49.204.165 (talk) 12:54, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
Please do not remove content. Other artists have their debut song not stage. Lightoil (talk) 12:58, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
If the conversation gets longer, I'll hold a discussion on the XG page. Do you agree on it ? 124.49.204.165 (talk) 12:55, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

My Sandbox

Why the hell are you in my sandbox requesting deletion of an article that isn't complete and hasn't even attempted to be published??? That is completely inappropriate and I am going to email the harassment team! UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:30, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

@UCLAPhdCandidate Read WP:NOTPROMOTION Lightoil (talk) 07:31, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Why dont you read the harassment article about posting needless notices in users private spaces! Especially since I literally sitting here working on the article! UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:37, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate rules are rules stop promoting yourself Lightoil (talk) 07:39, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Why are you searching sandboxes for this company in the first place?UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:38, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate I am patrolling recent changes. Lightoil (talk) 07:40, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
To private sandboxes? That doesn't come up in regular searches unless add them.. Seems like you are up to disruptive editing and no good. This is harassment.. Besides, even if the article was live, you are supposed to wait an hour before nominating articles for speedy deletion.. You are nominating one I am working on... to add to your ignorance I have a paid editing disclosure tag on my talk page. I've already alerted the admins. UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:44, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate WP:NOTPROMO applies sitewide and declaring WP:COI does not give you immunity. Lightoil (talk) 07:46, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
No, it does not apply to published drafts in sandboxes. I haven't event referenced the article, so how could you know if the company is notable? I haven't even finished the copy that is to be published so how could you know if the published article will be promotional?? Just a co-incidence that you are with a country that makes competing military grade equipment then huh? UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:50, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate you are mistaken WP:G11 applies to all pages of Wikipedia. Lightoil (talk) 07:51, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
And through your infinite wisdom and foresight you decided this draft could have no value in any form? And you looked through the history of the page and decided to ignore that the page was actively being worked on that day? Still, you decided to take it upon yourself to determine this subject could have no encyclopedic value before the article was finished? Stop making excuses and just own up to it! UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:56, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate please stop replying you obviously do not get the point Lightoil (talk) 08:00, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Attacking legitimate editing in a draft space for a military contractor is like you having an undisclosed WP:COI and is definitely WP:harassment and wp:disruptive.. Please stay away from me and my page from now on.. You have been officially notified on my request. UCLAPhdCandidate (talk) 07:52, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
@UCLAPhdCandidate I am just following the rules and have no COI. Please do not create promotional articles thanks. Lightoil (talk) 07:54, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Korea Entertainment Management Association rules in favor of ex-Loona’s Chuu on contract tampering BY JONATHAN HICAP Apr 4, 2023 01:12 PM

The Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) has ruled in favor of former K-pop girl group Loona member Chuu regarding allegations by her former agency that she tampered with her exclusive contract in order to transfer to another agency. Last December, BlockBerry Creative filed a petition with KEMA and the Korea Entertainment Producers' Association (KEPA) to ban Chuu from working in the Korean entertainment industry. 139.47.41.130 (talk) 02:43, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

We are waiting for Blockberry Creative to declare that they are former members but if you disagree please start a new discussion on Talk:Loona. Lightoil (talk) 02:49, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
BlockBerry could not "declare" considering they have much more headaches. 애프터스쿨 never was declared over. As far of Modhaus they did already announced an exclusive contract. Could those undeclared LOONA memebers still be considered members of LOONA once they got a new contract and their new agency refers on its statement as "former Loona members"?
And about the Korean Entertainment Management Association dismissing the petition to block Chuu's entertainment activities, also we are waitting for a Blockberry Creative to declare something I guess. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ 139.47.41.130 (talk) 03:12, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
So do you want to try to change the consensus or not? Lightoil (talk) 03:33, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

About the rollback on RBW (company)#Recording artists

RBW

  • Giuk (Onewe) made his solo debut in 2023 [1]
  • David Yong joined the label in 2022 [2]
  • Park Hyunkyu (Vromance) made solo debut in 2022 under his temporary contract with MA Ent. (benefit of being in Top 6 of "Sing Again 2"), but since he's still under the label, I think he is considered as an RBW soloist. [3]
  • Park Janghyun (Vromance) made his solo debut in 2011 under Jellyfish Ent. [4] and started to release solo works again since 2022
  • Park Jieun (ex-Purple Kiss) is still under RBW. And since no departure announcement has been made, presumptively so is Ravn (ex-Oneus). Although they have not made their solo debuts, but so hasn't Rachel (ex-April) under DSP.
  • CSR's Japanese activities are managed by RBW Japan. [5]

DSP Media

  • DSP acquired Goodfellas Ent. in 2022[6], and all Goodfellas artists joined the DSP label. [7]

Urban Works Media

  • RBW acquired 50% of Urban Works Media in 2022[8], making RBW the largest shareholder and obtaining management rights, which makes Urban Works artists affiliated to RBW. [9]

@Tinalui831 citation should be right after punctuation. Like this.[10] Furthermore, I see some of your sources are primary sources please use secondary sources if they exist. I suggest you add this information not in point form but in prose in the article. I reverted your changes because you did not use sources in your edits [4],[5],[6]. I gave the reason in my edit summary [7] and my message in your talk page User Talk:Tinalui831. Lightoil (talk) 08:51, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

Regarding Teddy Park

Hi. I made an update regarding Teddy Park's career. You decided to remove it because I didn't give a reliable source, but I already put the link for the song and the album. I'm just confused. Because I write it the same way as it is. 103.119.230.242 (talk) 16:42, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

You need to add a source, links are not sources see WP:CITE Lightoil (talk) 16:46, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
But I didn't see the source for Rose's On The Ground and Lisa's Lalisa. 103.119.230.242 (talk) 16:53, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
Those need to be removed as WP:BLPs needs sources Lightoil (talk) 16:59, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

ask a question

Isn't Taiwan Province part of China? SugarFreeFree (talk) 12:38, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

@SugarFreeFree No it is not. It is a country per consensus in Wikipedia. Lightoil (talk) 12:40, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
Taiwan doesn't seem to be recognized as a country, and now most countries have established diplomatic relations with China. Don't they all promise to adhere to the principle that Taiwan Province is a part of China? " SugarFreeFree (talk) 13:00, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
@SugarFreeFree Does not matter Taiwan is considered a country in Wikipedia. Furthermore, most countries have unofficial relations with Taiwan like USA and does not really consider Taiwan a province of China. Lightoil (talk) 13:10, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
Are there any other countries besides the United States? SugarFreeFree (talk) 13:13, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
@SugarFreeFree, another example is the Czech Republic [8] but that is not the point in Wikipedia Taiwan is a country end of story. I suggest you read Talk:Taiwan. Lightoil (talk) 13:22, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

  Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

  Arbitration

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

Removal of information on XG's Page created by me

Hello, regarding my XG page edits which were rolled back for unreliable sources, which sources should I be looking to include since updating information and sources for a relatively new and middling kpop group seems different from something like medicine or politics, as there's prone to be less reliable and professional sources. Should I stick to sourcing using the group's official page, or would that interfere with rules against commercial sources? And how do I know which secondary sources are considered high brow and reliable enough to edit with? Also, regarding to the reversion of edits related to the member's positions in the group, if kprofiles isn't reliable enough as a source, would primary resources be better? Also, where would it be best to place more information about XG's musical identity and impact, as there isn't specifically a lot on the page currently corresponding to that besides non descript genre markers, and the information I added was all removed for unreliable resources, which resources would be best specifically about their music style and aesthetic sensibility? Thank you for reading this message, hopefully you will respond with helpful information :) Velvetvivi (talk) 09:16, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

@Velvetvivi check WP:KO/RS on sources that you should use and which you should avoid. Lightoil (talk) 09:19, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

@Gamowebbed I can explain further both SuperM (band) and MAMA 2017 is not R from alternate Capitalization, MAMA 2017 is an acronym and SuperM (band) is R from unnecessary disambiguation. R from alternate capitalization is like BigBang redirect to Bigbang. Furthermore, your references should not have the website URL as last name. Lightoil (talk) 05:14, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Surinamese charts revert

Hello, I think you made a mistake because in this case there is no other archive of charts from Suriname from this period. As proof that they are real, you can compare the Top 5 charts published on the official Facebook profile, which coincides with each week from the blog. Probably the top 40 was only available on the official site during a given week and then archived only on this blog, hence there is no other source for the top 40 from that period. Take into account that the Nationale Top 40 is reliable. Szyign (talk) 14:49, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Then use an archive of the official site. Blogs are not reliable sources per WP:USERGENERATED Lightoil (talk) 12:54, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
As I Said, the official site doesn't have any archive from this period. The blog is obviously created by the charts owners, they just seem to not have enough money to host it on their site? I have no idea why they putted it on the blog, but it's the only available archive. Szyign (talk) 12:57, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
@Szyign I meant internet archive Lightoil (talk) 12:58, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
And I understand, but there's no internet archive from this period. So it's impossible to get to this site from that period Szyign (talk) 12:59, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

BP Request

Hi Lightoil, a while ago you said I could make direct edits to the BP article. I really don't feel comfortable doing that. Even when Arturo at BP suggested content on the Talk page of articles in the past, in accordance with Wikipedia's own rules, it became a topic of conversation in the press. To ensure BP is operating in a way that is most comfortable for everyone, I would like to refrain from any direct edits to articles. Would you consider making the changes in that request on my behalf? I'd really appreciate it! Vishal BP (talk) 11:08, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

@Vishal BP please edit the page yourself, I already gave you the go ahead. You are not breaking any Wikipedia rules, there is nothing stopping you from making the changes you requested. Lightoil (talk) 11:54, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Lightoil. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 03:34, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

This is Japanese 101 that they teach you in the first class, but if you really want a source: 日本では、外国人の人名をカタカナ表記することが原則(中国人や台湾人は例外)です。 Semi-relatedly, on jawiki, the MOS explicitly states 漢字は平仮名にする. NM 12:37, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
@Northern Moonlight what you say may be true but en wiki does not follow ja wiki manual of style. Lightoil (talk) 13:43, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
Using hiragana for native Japanese name is such a common knowledge that this is probably WP:BLUE. If you want more, here’s another native speaker answering that “no, we don’t write katakana for native names”: 名前をカタカナで書く人はほとんどいません ひらがなか、漢字が普通です. Katakana is reserved for foreign names (外国の地名や人の名まえ), foreign terms (外国からきたことば) and onomatopoeia (ものの音やどうぶつの鳴き声). NM 14:01, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Lightoil. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 08:18, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – September 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2023).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, TFAs will be automatically semi-protected the day before it is on the main page and through the day after.
  • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. But oversight could well be right where there's a particularly high risk to the person. Use your judgment.

  Technical news

  Arbitration

  • The SmallCat dispute case has closed. As part of the final decision, editors participating in XfD have been reminded to be careful about forming local consensus which may or may not reflect the broader community consensus. Regular closers of XfD forums were also encouraged to note when broader community discussion, or changes to policies and guidelines, would be helpful.

  Miscellaneous

  • Tech tip: The "Browse history interactively" banner shown at the top of Special:Diff can be used to easily look through a history, assemble composite diffs, or find out what archive something wound up in.
