Do you have a date or any other info on Johanssons boogie-woogie-vals? It would be good if you could add a reference to that sentence so we could better intergrate it into the article. Thanks Steve Pastor 21:25, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:1953 MO and Owners Daughter.JPG edit

Hi, I have noticed that you had copied the picture to Wikipedia Commons. I'm not at all familiar with the Commons database. Would you be able to give me some insight as to where I can find that photo in Commons and what it is Commons is supposed to accomplish. Thanks, --HJKeats 14:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I haven't copied it (yet), but only tagged it as a candidate to be moved to Commons. The big advantage of having images on Commons is that the same image can be used on all Wikimedia projects. For instance we could use the same image on the Swedish Wikipedia. For instance notice Image:1995LotusEspritS4s 3049.jpg that is on Commons and it is used in both Lotus Esprit, fr:Lotus Esprit and it:Lotus Esprit. See Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. // Liftarn
Excellent, thanks for taking the time to advise me on the use. Is it fair to say that only media such as photo's get posted to Commons then? Are there any structure to Commons and how would one go about uploading files to commons and place it appropriately for future reference and tracking the use of it? Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my questions, --HJKeats 14:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Mainly photos, but also files like sounds and PDF files. Commons has a stucture of many categories. The image mentioned abouve would be placed in Commons:Category:Morris Oxford and Commons:Category:1953 automobiles. Tools like CommonsHelper is a good way to transfer existing images. For new images a good place to start would probably be Commons:Commons:First steps. // Liftarn

Are you going to add tags or are you going to transwiki things? edit

It seems like you spend more time adding tags marking images to be transwikied to Commons rather than actually pitching in and doing the transfers (or making any substantive contributions to the encyclopedia such as uploading pictures of your own or drafting some new article text). Perhaps you might want to actually try creating something for Wikipedia sometime! Just a thought. --Coolcaesar 06:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have actually done a lot of transfers (see my log at Commons) as well as adding my own images (see commons:Category:Files by Liftarn), but now I have also tagged a lot of images as well (partially as a "note to self"). I hope to get around to moving them to Commons soon. So to answer your initial question. I will probably add tags for now and transfer later. The actual transfer should be able to do automaticly, see Wikipedia_talk:Moving images to the Commons#Move bot suggestion // Liftarn

Speedy deletion notice edit

I have nominated Wikipedia is a democracy for speedy deletion, as it is generally inappropriate to have a mainspace article redirect to anything but another mainspace article. Citation needed at Wikipedia:Consensus edit

<blink>. Oh-kay... maybe... what do you mean by that? I had better listen most carefully.

Also, why did you add that today, and not say... when the page was created here in 2004? --Kim Bruning 13:22, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't react until today. I'm not omniscient. // Liftarn
3 whole years though, that's a pretty amazing reaction time ;) Just took me by surprise, is all.
So what do you mean with citation needed in this context? (for instance, there won't be books about wikipedia procedure to cite from)
--Kim Bruning 13:33, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I didn't think if that. It was just a knee jerk reaction. // Liftarn

I would like a source for the claim, but OK, do as you with. // Liftarn
!?!? Alright, why didn't you say so immediately when I asked?
Well, whatever the case may be: What do you mean by "source" in this context? What kind of source would work? --Kim Bruning 14:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Note that this is only the second time I've ever seen a citation needed tag in the project namespace (and I've been patrolling for years by now). I don't know what one would do with that? Though I'm certainly curious as to what it might mean! --Kim Bruning

Image:IkeaRestaurant.jpg edit

I removed this image from WP:PUI because it is CC-BY-SA-2.5, a free license. However, Commons' licensing rules are stricter than here on Wikipedia, and forbid images that are intended only for use on Wikipedia (which was my intention, as the original photographer and uploader). I don't have an account on Commons, nor do I have any need for one, so I've been the one posting on your talk page there. The image should be removed from Commons, however it fully complies with Wikipedia's own licensing regulations, and should remain here. --Kevin Walter 23:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I already left a message on user's talk regarding this and re added the image on WP:PUI. Garion96 (talk) 00:08, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problems with Image:Benson.gif edit

An image that you uploaded, Image:Benson.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. RJASE1 Talk 02:33, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Volvo edit

Hi, Not sure why you like including the reference to Volvos being thought of as tractors - this is not referenced or cited and it is pretty clearly a point of personal bias. IF you can provide some sort of reference that is wide accepted as truth, then I'll be OK with this. Otherwise, it has no place here.

Also, Volvo as a brand does compete with the cars I listed - check out any car magazine, there are regular comparisons between Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes. It makes little sense why people refuse to list BMW etc as competition for Volvo.

"Half" of Volvo's line does not start below $30k, it is only 2 out of 8 models actually (S40 and V50).

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.122.31.62 (talkcontribs)

Ok, add a {{fact}} on it then. There are regular comparisons between Volvo, Volkswagen and Skoda as well. It also needs source. // Liftarn

Hello. I've noticed that you've been deleting a lot of information from the Volvo C30 and Volvo Cars pages. A lot of citation tags have been placed there, far too many than are necessary. Please keep that in mind before you remove information, especially the well written bits. --Ng.j 14:17, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I did delete some text that was unsourced and had been so for a long time. The removed text looked like it was copied from a press release or an ad or something anyway so it wasn't well written anyway. // Liftarn 14:22, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I was refering to some text from Volvo Cars. I think it would be best to put it up for discussion and see what others think. I still can't believe you want a reference for ""Volvo is known for safety". :-)
Anyway, I hope we can come to an amiable compromise and seek to expand Wikipedia. Would you consider moving areas you deem questionable to the talk page rather than just deleting? That way someone in the future may have more to add and be able to provide a better reference.

Orange Juice (website) edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Orange Juice (website), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Orange Juice (website) edit

I've nominated Orange Juice (website), an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Orange Juice (website) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Orange Juice (website) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Orange Juice (website) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. RJASE1 Talk 14:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

FYI: I have some tools that may simplify your "Where I have been" secton of your user page edit

I see you have a list of nations and/or states/provinces on your user page. I would like to offer you some templates for this task I created for my own list. One pair of templates will create entries identical to the one I use. (I suggest you copy my legend if you use them.) Other templates will provide just a flag or name (nation or province/state).

Highlights
  • All use a simple code.
    • Nations are identified with a two letter top-level Internet domain code (except for the United States of America, which uses "USA").
    • States and provinces are identified with postal codes (so far anyway).
  • Nation and state/province names are linked.
  • The low level templates return flag images with just the filename allowing you to control the image size and caption.
  • All flag images located so far are SVG.
  • If any flag images or names on your page officially change, your user page will get the update as soon as I know about it.

One drawback
  • Currently the province templates can only look up data for the United States of America and Canada. However, additional capability can be readily added. All I need to do is create a starter template and let you add the provinces.

Blanking, vandalism, baseless accusations and etiquette edit

Deleting irrelevant sections from articles is not considered blanking (I've been on the other side of the argument), and this particular section has been discussed at some length on the Talk page. Accusations of vandalism in a content dispute generally don't carry much sway on the vandalism noticeboard. Also, please sign comments you leave anywhere on Wikipedia. I'll take your suggestion to experiment in a sandbox as a joke and leave it at that. --Leifern 16:45, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Take it as you wish, but please talk trough changes instead of just blanking the section. // Liftarn

Speedy deletion of ADVSYS edit

A tag has been placed on ADVSYS, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Non-notable software, no assertion of notability under CSD A7

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Walton Vivat Regina!
