Without any proper source info we do not know how Wikipedia can use the pictures, can they be used commercially, can they be modified, are they now in Public Domain etc., these questions are open and Your line:"Júnior's official website (http://www.sitedojunior.com.br) allowed me to use this image by request." doesn't clear up what kind of things are allowed (allowed to use how?). This is why something written is needed to clear up uncertainties about the usage of those images. And it must be in English and not just Your translation (not official), since this is the English Wikipedia and anyone who wants to use the images must be able to understand under which conditions the images are usable. Hi Lesfer. Indeed, if the images are copyrighted work which we are using with express permission from the copyright holder, we need to post evidence to this permission on the image's page. If you received permission via e-mail, you can copy and paste it to the image's page. If you received permission via something like a chatroom, you could try to contact the individual who gave you permission and ask him to e-mail you about that — then you can copy and paste that e-mail to the image's talk page.
About the problem of it being in English: I realise it can be difficult, if not impossible, to get someone from the website to give you permission in English (they might not speak the language). If that happens, I suggest that you copy and paste the original in Portuguese, but do not translate it yourself. Instead, make a note about the impossibility of obtaining a version in English from the website and request a translation from another Portuguese-speaking user (doesn't need to be Brazilian, or even a native speaker) — use the Babel categories to find someone (I'd suggest no lower than "pt-3"). I don't think it would be necessary, but it is also possible to ask yet other users who understand Portuguese to vouch for the accuracy of the translation. Redux 22:41, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I have translated the email that is included. It is essentially asking for permission to use the image, with no response given. I'm positive about the translation with the exception of one word, Maestro, which is unfarmiliar to me, it could be a name, or possible "Teacher" or "Master". Either way, the content of the letter is intact, that is is mearly a request to use the image, and not a given response, if you have the response, I will gladly translate it. Tracking Vandalism

Hi Lesfer,

At 5 April 2006 I replied to you about blocking my IP, this was because of a warning about vandalism in the Wikipedia. As I have said at that time, the Internet connection on my work is through a proxy.

Now I come here to offer, with the acknowledgment of my boss, some help to track the vandalistic actions from the public IPs of the company where I work, and to identify those which may have taken any actions against Wikipedia in our facilities.

May we cross informations from Wikipedia Community about vandalistic actions from our public IPs and the information from our network infrastructure (squid, firewall, routers, etc)?

Tell me if this is interesting to Wikipedia Community and how can we do such thing.

Hi Lesfer. I'm afraid I don't have CheckUser (that's the tool used for checking IPs). The request needs to be posted at Wikipedia:Requests for CheckUser. Not all requests are fulfilled though, since our privacy policy demands that the circumstances be serious enough to justify disclosing (even if only to the user with CheckUser) a registered user's IP. What?

My "history of vandalism" as you put it was actually just a member trying to get under my skin. He wasn't an admin, I have no warnings from official admins. That article, since it covers the entire history of the League, is perfectly appropriate. Everybody in the photo were members of the League at some point. Just leave it, its a high quality photo. The Jimenez photo is way out of date (just look at Batman's costume), and Bene's art is a good representation of the good characters of the DCU. Plus, there are people in the Jimenez photo who haven't been members of the league either. Just leave it. CmdrClow 04:37, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Sand (comics)

I totally agree. I accidentally created Sand (Sandy Hawkins) in an attempt to fix Traviswastaken's mistake (he did not properly move the page). I figured he was able to justify the Sandman code-name, but apparently not. I left a message on his talk, telling him it's his responsibility to fix. I think we may need to address this sort of thing in the editorial guidelines as well. You're absolutely right: Hal Jordan, Jay Garrick, Rick Tyler and Donna Troy all have their superhero names in thei SHBs; however, I know that at least Carol Danvers does not. Well, as you explained that the previous Alex Ross image was innapropriate due to not coming from a comic rather than all of the artist's work collectively being considered "unfair use" which is what I missaprehended that you meant by your initial statement...

...I found a current picture by the artist which depects Aquaman in his current costume, and it is from an official DC publication featuring Aquaman. Your statement that it must be an actual Aquaman publication, I assume you are not being literal about as such characters as Wolverine feature images in their boxes that are also not from the title character's solo publication. Thanks for uploading Image:Aldair.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

Hi Lesfer. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I went through this person's upload log (images), and what I found was not encouraging. I've deleted the copyvio images he uploaded (this also includes false tags where he claimed that an image belonging to the Associated Press and being used on cnnsi.com was his creation, for example) and reverted his inclusion of them in articles. Comics Cleanup

You are one of the best editors working on comics-related articles on Wikipedia. I'd like to inite you to join the new WikiProject I've started: WikiProject Comics Cleanup. Similarly to how the WP:CMC collaboration works to elevate articles to Featured Article status, the primary goal of this new project is to coordinate group cleanup efforts on articles, copy editing, condensing, and providing citations where needed. The secondary goal is to remind good editors that there are other good editors who have the same goals.

Assume good faith and be civil

Okay, basically you have breached civility guidance in a number of comments to User:Netkinetic. [1] and [2] don't really keep within the bounds of our civility policy. Sometimes it is possible to get frustrated when editing Wikipedia, and in those circumstances it is best to try and keep WP:COOL. An approach is to write a response, and instead of posting it, walk away for five minutes and then come back and rewrite it. Frustration is the hardest part about contributing to Wikipedia. Disputes occur frequently, especially in areas where the situation may not seem clear cut to both parties. The best advise is to stop acting, keep a cool head and keep talking. However, if that fails, rather than find yourself in a position where you lose your temper and say something you shouldn't, you should walk away. You should also consider extending a sincere apology when you have lost your temper. An apology does not have to mean you accept you were wrong in your position, only that the way you put that position across was perhaps ill-judged. We do have a dispute resolution process, and if you need help in working through the steps don't hesitate to contact me for help. Found it and replied, thanks. Apparently the browser didn't direct me to the correct link initially. I know that neither one of us has earned much respect from the other thus far, and I would like to from this point rectify the matter. I would ask that you consider some of my line of reasoning (regarding Atom's inclusion to the Suicide Squad category yet not with regards to JLA/JSA) and let me know your thoughts. I think the best of both worlds would be to include both the title (Flash) and the individuals (Barry Allen, etc) to clarify categories. I look forward to consensus on the overall issue. Re: Images

Hi Lesfer. The problem is that, by a decision from Jimbo Wales himself (read it), Wikipedia is no longer to carry copyrighted media (such as images) that have been cleared for non-commercial use only or that could have been authorized by the copyright holder to be used on Wikipedia only. The decision was made in early 2005, and became effective on May 19, 2005. All material uploaded under one of those two premises prior to May 19, 2005 is clear for use, but anything and everything uploaded as of May 19, 2005 no longer adheres to Wikipedia's image use policy.
I actually had an experience of my own: during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, I uploaded several images released by the Brazilian Olympic Committee. Their website's terms of use stated that all images were free to be used as long as the use was exclusively illustrative (i.e., non-commercial) and with the goal of divulging Brazilian sport. Burgundavia (a user who used to be very active in image policy and such) and I discussed it and I designed a template for all of our BOC images. But that was in 2004. Since May 19, 2005, the template has been amended to include a note to users that images from the BOC uploaded on or after May 19, 2005, as long as under the same premises as the ones I uploaded, are no longer usable on Wikipedia.
In the case of the image you linked, it seems that the copyright holder gave you a special authorization to use their copyrighted work on Wikipedia, which means that it's actually not usable under our current policy. I think I covered everything, but let me know if you need further clarification. Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Fair Use also contain information relevant to determining whether or not an image is usable on Wikipedia. Cheers, Redux 16:53, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Minor item re:List JLA members

This may be a minor thing, but it could leas to a lot of revert friction in the DC articles.

The indencia, the legal text on the "DC Nation" page at the back of the book, for 52 explicitly uses the format "52 Week 'X'". I had to look it up when I saw the edit to that format. Re: Hawkgirl

Got a question on part of the edit on the Infobox here. Why was the comment reinforcing that Hol has a separate article removed?

When I had edited the 'box with regard to the naming conventions, I had added that as a way to show that that particular character is dealt with else where. This was to prevent possible misunderstanding and unwarranted inclusion of that characters information in the 'box.

If this is incorrect, I need to know as I've used the same formatting in at least 3 other cases.

I like the preceding dash though, it seems a good way to indicate each is a distinct character.
