Tagalog help needed

Hello Lenticel, I'm contacting you because we need some Tagalog translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on tl.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Tagalog Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 17:34, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Teamwork barnstar

  Teamwork barnstar
I am honored to present you with this Teamwork barnstar for your assisting me in improving the article "Doing time, Doing Vipassana" while it was at AFD. Collaborative editing is a hallmark of Wikipedia, and is one of the surest ways to keep editors and to make Wikipedia a better place... and you have done both. Thank you, Schmidt, Michael Q. 04:59, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Schmidt, Michael Q. :) --Lenticel (talk) 05:03, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Quite welcome. More sources now listed at the AFD. Not a very good good nom. Schmidt, Michael Q. 05:10, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cuterebriasis, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Feline and Canine (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).   Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Penicillin Desensitization may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Silicone Valley

You commented at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2013 December 25#Silcone Valley. That discussion was closed with consensus to retarget the Silicone Valley redirect to Silicon Valley. Your opinion would now be welcome about whether Silcon Valley should have a hatnote pointing to San Fernando Valley#Adult ednterainment, the former target of the redirect and only other notable meaning of the term. Please comment at Talk:Silicon Valley#Hatnote, thanks. Thryduulf (talk) 23:53, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

thank you

I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work at RfD. I shan't always agree with you – that's the point of a discussion – but at least one editor does notice how hard you work to make the encyclopaedia better. Thank you once again, kosszonem szepen, bientot, gracias, shuckran. Sorry I can't do the proper accents on this English keyboard.

Thank you as well. I hope more editors like you would join us here.--Lenticel (talk) 08:44, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Beef Jerky listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Beef Jerky. Since you had some involvement with the Beef Jerky redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Steel1943 (talk) 18:43, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia Reference Desk redirect

In October 2012 you contributed to the discussion that led to Wikipedia Reference Desk becoming a redirect to Wikipedia:Reference Desk (Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2012 October 8#Wikipedia Reference Desk). The redirect was nominated for deletion on 22 August and you are invited to contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 August 22#Wikipedia Reference Desk. "Cite book" redirect

In 2012 you participated in a discussion about various "cite x" template redirects (e.g. "Cite journal", "Cite book", etc) at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2012 August 30#Cite journal. The redirect "Cite book" was nominated for deletion yesterday (31 August 2014) and your input into the discussion would be welcome at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 August 31#Cite book. Francisco Quisumbing

Hi Lenticel--I ran into this article by chance, and I can't say I'm very convinced by its sourcing. I thought I'd drop you a line first. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:32, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Oh memories, this is probably one of the earliest articles that I made. I'll try to see if I can improve it a bit further. I won't mind if you list it for AFD. --Lenticel (talk) 05:40, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Pocculis invisabale

I planted a few bulbs of my new species, pocculis invisibalis (lenticelium verbatim), just for you. If they come up in spring, or about ten years after, you owe me a penny of your favourite currency. Until then I hope you keep adding your insights and wisdom at RfD, I for one appreciate it very much. Si Trew (talk) 20:22, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Reddle and waiting

Nice work over there at ochre for the R from Reddleman. I haven't the heart to add Reddlemen (currently redlink) as an R to section and R from plural, do you want to? Si Trew (talk) 11:16, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

I wanna barnstar

How come I never get a barnstar? You gave a Redirect Barnstar to Steely and he does bugger all really. Not fair (sulking). (Actually he does a lot and he deserves it. It is as the barnstar says unrecognized doing this tying up stuff.)

Actually I usually just delete em cos I am so very modest, so don't worry too much. Your R on ochre led me a bit down the garden path so there are a few loose ends to tie up there. Somehow – this is the way of Wikipedia – I ended up translating the French internal tax auditor, but decide in the end it wasn't worth it. Si Trew (talk) 15:12, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

  • (talk page stalker) I totally just saw this. I must admit Si Trew, you do make me smile and chuckle a bit when I read your posts. But believe me when I say that your contributions are quite appreciated here, and if I recall, I believe that once upon a time, I gave you a Barnstar. :) Steel1943 (talk) 21:28, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Talk page stalker Well I get told off a lot for being too light-hearted. Editing an encylopaedia is a serious business but I don't see why that means discussions always have to be so leaden; sometimes a joke (even a bad one) is more illuminating, and certainly more convivial. Happy New Year to you both. Si Trew (talk) 05:44, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you but the ping disappeared

Hi Lenticel,

Sorry to bother you but I had about three on the new Twinkle drop down that said you had replied or something at RfD. Attempting to click on one, the whole lot disappeared (and not ust from you, there were two others, I counted five before they disappeared).

It's no big deal but I don't want you to think I am ignoring whatever it was you said. I tend to agree with you which either means we have the same kinda thinking or I am a complete lickspittle from whom you can beg me to do any bidding you want. Oh hang on where did this little bone come from. Ohh nice bone nice bone. What do you wnat doing on the french article about masochism in the provence? translate into croatian? yeah yeah nice bone nice bone i will do that nice bone gimme bone croatian not hard

woops sorry where was I. Oh yeah, sorry not to respond to you personally on the @s or whatever at RfD. Sincerely I thank you for being the second best sensible, intelligent, disinterested, knowledgeable, and all round good person at RfD who gave me a barnstar which I promptly deleted (I don't do spangly things)

I wish all you and yours the best for the coming Christmas, and a prosperous New Year. We have had a not so good 2014 but we have heat and light and the bills are paid and there are bulbs in the garden to come up in spring. We have food and drink. We have the Internet. We have more than most people could dream of, now or in the past. I can leave a message for you half a world away. How cool is that! Before 1960 that was impossible and now it gets to you in seconds. And they say the world don't improve.

God bless you and all yours this Christmas, and may it long continue. Your sincere if a bit drunk friend, S. Si Trew (talk) 15:41, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

God bless and merry Christmas to you too Si Trew :) --Lenticel (talk) 00:18, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Heartilly

Lenticel, I wanted to inform you that I have withdrawn the RFD for Heartilly. As you had the only "delete" vote besides my own (until I withdrew the nomination), if you believe that the discussion should be reopened or the redirect be renominated, I have no objections. Steel1943 (talk) 21:25, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't mind. I'll just assume that the Keep arguments won the RFD.--Lenticel (talk) 09:43, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Damn your edit conflict at RfD!

And happy new year! Si Trew (talk) 00:27, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

hahaha Happy new year too SiTrew :) --Lenticel (talk) 00:27, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Pearlasia Gamboa

Last month, you participated in a deletion discussion for several redirects to Pearlasia Gamboa. All participants were in favor of deletion for several of them, but three were convoluted. The majority were in favor of deleting each one, but these three got one don't-delete each, and the whole discussion was difficult to assess; Bromley86 had a good description in calling it "this whole convoluted and, frankly, nuts area", and the two most helpful votes were split between deletes and don't-deletes. Since none of the redirects are outright harmful, I figured we'd get the best result if I just kept them and immediately relisted them; I've created new nominations for them at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2015 February 4, and your participation would be welcome. Cheeseburger!

thank you for your work at RfD

I am not very good at saying this, but I so appreciate your work at RfD. I am not good at saying it, and don't always agree with you, but your intelligence shines out of you. Thank you once again for all your hard work. I shall not always agree with you, but you are so intelligent, a true credit to Wikipedia. I am not very good. I know a lot but ramble around. Sometimes that works, especially with you, cos then you catch them when I can't find 'em. Together we get there, don't we? I translated Dutch and French out of WP:PNT, but not good with East ASsian languages. The RfD Barnstar

I don't know how to award a barnstar so I have to draw it longhand

/*----------------------------*/ | R R | | ^ | | --- --- | | F \ / F | | --+ +--- | | \ ^ / | | D \ / \ / D | | v v | /*----------------------------*/

(űIt doesn't seem to render very well, but it looks great in preview.)

Thank you for your amazing and intelligent contributions at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion, especially on redirects in East Asian languages, but more generally in being good-humoured, civil, and quite often wrong. :) All power to your elbow. Si Trew (talk) 04:53, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks :)

You can use {{subst:The Redirect Barnstar|1=(Additional customizing text may be added here.)}} if you want. --Lenticel (talk) 06:56, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:16, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Lenticel. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard.
