RM section edit

I think it was added here: [1] Dr. Vogel (talk) 13:11, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DrVogel: thanks for pointing that out! @Anthony Appleyard: What motivated you to add a new section? It seems to me that a controversial request is synonymous with a contested request, and that this extra section would make the process unnecessarily confusing. Lennart97 (talk) 13:17, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's the same thing I thought when I saw it, but given my very limited experience I didn't want to cause a problem. Would be good to see what Anthony says. Dr. Vogel (talk) 13:23, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Swap within move edit

Hi, thanks so much for the tip about this. I had never noticed the little swap link in the failed move screen. This is so useful. This is how I'll do it from now. Thanks again! Dr. Vogel (talk) 16:08, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

No problem DrVogel, happy to help! Lennart97 (talk) 08:18, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DrVogel: By the way, if you're planning on fixing links to disambiguation pages more often, I recommend using Disamassist, which is especially easy to use when there's many links pointing to one particular disambiguation page. Lennart97 (talk) 08:54, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Barf Bands edit

Hello, to go with your recent AfDs for bands with vomit in their names, you might want to also consider this one: Tears for the Dying. While investigating for my vote on Vomit Thrower, I stumbled across this band because they are connected. I considered starting an AfD for this band myself, but they actually have some media coverage because one of their members is known for works in queer punk (e.g. [2]). If you think this one is worthy of deletion too, I will vote in favor of that, or we could let it go for the time being. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 22:16, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Doomsdayer520: Thanks first of all for the title of this section, which made me laugh out loud, and additionally for the suggestion; based on your observations and my own BEFORE, I agree with you and have nominated this article here. Lennart97 (talk) 13:15, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Another MERGE to close? edit

The WP:MERGE discussion at Talk:Basilica of the Immaculate Conception#Merger discussion seems to have gone cold (latest post 29 September 2021). Do you thinks it's ripe for WP:NAC? Narky Blert (talk) 11:51, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Narky Blert: Overripe, for sure! Happy to help. Lennart97 (talk) 20:29, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Dank u wel! Narky Blert (talk) 20:33, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Party of Labour of Albania or Labour Party of Albania edit

Every official Albanian account of the Party translates its name as the "Party of Labour of Albania", not the "Labour Party of Albania". The latter spelling, along with "Workers' Party of Albania", "Albanian Labour Party", and other similar translations are only used sporadically by academics over the years. For example, Enver Hoxha's Reports to Congresses were always termed "Report to the x Congress of the Party of Labour of Albania." The only decisive name for the Party was, in fact, the Party of Labour of Albania. So despite the clunkiness of it in English, anything else may cause confusion for people searching for the Wikipedia page from the literature and vice versa. I think it would be best to reverse the change, if you agree. ShqiperiaSocialiste (talk) 03:37, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey ShqiperiaSocialiste (very appropriate username by the way!), the move was requested as an uncontroversial technical move by Kj1595, and I've reverted it because of your objection (I personally have no opinion on it). Any further discussion on this should be had on the article talk page. Lennart97 (talk) 08:17, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Robert James Dugu Gordon edit

The article at Robert James Dugu Gordon sure reads like a hoax, but it might not be completely so. I found a site that claims a "Robert I. Gordon" was in a St. Kitts and Nevis legislature in the 1950s, and a self-published book also refers to Robert Gordon. Regardless, I see nothing in the current content or revision history worth keeping. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 05:18, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

And a snippet from Eastern Caribbean elections, 1950-1982 says that politician was "R.J. Gordon". This may be the case of someone writing a true (but unsourced/unsourcable) story about their grandfather. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 05:24, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Interesting finds! I wonder if this Robert I./J. Gordon could be notable per WP:NPOL#1, although Kitts & Nevis weren't fully independent at the time. Regardless, it's impossible to tell if this article actually refers to the same person, and you're right that there's no content worth keeping. Lennart97 (talk) 08:33, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Query for a deleted page edit

Hi sir/madam, I wanted to ask something if its not much of a trouble for you. There used to be a wikipedia article Sri Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh. I think it got deleted sometime ago as the link is now redirecting to Tan Singh. Firstly I wanted to read the discussion that took place for its deletion as I wanted to know how and why it got deleted, as I am new I don't know how to find that discussion. So if you could help me find it. Another thing is I read the article some time ago and saw that it has only one citation so i think if it got deleted due to poor citation, i wanted to improve that article as I know it is atleast important enough to have a separate wikipedia page. Another thing is as I was reading the rules, I got confused that how is an article that is deleted can be recreated. Should a new article is to be written afresh or old one can be undeleted if proper citations and notability issue is addressed. Please help me in this regard. Thanks in advance.Shanusar (talk) 16:19, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Shanusar: Hi. I think you mean Shri Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh (Shri instead of Sri). JalenFolf restored the long-standing redirect because the newly created article was unsourced, promotional and generally unencyclopedic. If you want to create an article about the subject, I would strongly recommend to create a draft version at Draft:Sri Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh, and then submit it to the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process, and also that you first familiarize yourself with (at the very least) the policies notability, verifiability and neutral point of view. Sports teamspages edit

Hi Lennart97, I had intended an admin move those sports teams pages, since they were moved against consensus by a user who is now blocked. I felt the redirects should not have been kept but because a bot had also edited them it required an admin G6 as opposed to a page mover. You swapped the pages that remained, I guess this is fine. Do you think the redirects need speedy tags though, or just leave as it is now? Polyamorph (talk) 16:23, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Polyamorph, I didn't realise that was your plan when I swapped the remaining ones. I think as long as these redirects are potentially useful and the regular deletion reasons for redirects don't apply, there's no need to delete them just because a blocked user created them, right? If the Davis Cup team is indeed essentially a country's national tennis team, then redirects of this form are probably at least somewhat useful to keep around, at the very least not worth the effort deleting. Lennart97 (talk) 17:10, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
When I moved the others, I supressed the redirect, since I was just restoring the situation prior to the disruptive moves. But yeah, I agree, not worth deleting the ones you swapped given they are potentially useful. Cheers Polyamorph (talk) 19:35, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
It turns out leaving the redirect was the correct thing to do after all. See my talk! Polyamorph (talk) 21:22, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh yes, broken redirects! I hadn't thought of that, either. Good to keep in mind. Lennart97 (talk) 10:12, 8 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Democratic Socialist Party (Nepal)! edit

I would be glad if you could update the page move at Module:Political Party! Regards!Goodfaithuser (talk) 17:40, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Goodfaithuser: You probably mean Module:Political party, but I have no idea how to work with modules, so you'll have to ask someone else. Lennart97 (talk) 18:47, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks! Actually, I am new in English Wikipedia. I was in Nepali project. So, sorry for creating confusion.Goodfaithuser (talk) 18:55, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Lennart97:Well, what about moving that party? Did you think something? Goodfaithuser (talk) 19:02, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Goodfaithuser: Hi, you don't have to ping me on my talk page :) You mean Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist–Leninist), right? The question is what should go to that title once it's moved. If I'm getting it correctly you propose moving the currently active party to that title, but both the 1998 en 2002 parties are currently active. That's why I proposed making it a disambiguation page instead. Lennart97 (talk) 21:03, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Lennart97:No, you're getting it wrong. Its not me who proposed the move. Sorry for being more concerned. Well i am from Nepal and that's the reason i got interest here. You may do whatever is good. I have no prolem with that. Regards!Goodfaithuser (talk) 06:05, 22 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Goodfaithuser: Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist–Leninist) now redirects to the list at Communist Party of Nepal (disambiguation), where the 1978, 1998 and 2002 versions of CPN (ML) are all listed. Lennart97 (talk) 09:48, 22 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

concern about your turn to die page edit

@Taeluta: I noticed you reverted my move of the page "your turn to die." I actually did try to discuss the move before moving the article in talk. What mistake did I make? Was there a certain command I should have used? Thank you, CringeButSerious (talk) 21:55, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@CringeButSerious: I'm not Taeluta, but I did revert the move, which was requested by @Cavarrone: at WP:RM/TR. I do see now that you started a discussion at the article talk page earlier today, but you shouldn't have unilaterally decided on the move without waiting for response, especially since a similar move has been reverted in the past. Instead, start a move request following the process outlined at WP:RM#CM. Before you do so, Cavarrone may want to explain their opposition to the move at the article talk page. George, South Africa edit

Could you please complete the move/merge process you started so that the article ends up at the proper George, Western Cape title. Happy New Year! Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 12:03, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Dodger67: Happy new year. I actually moved the page from George, Western Cape to George, South Africa, as requested at WP:RM/T by Htonl with the rationale Recent changes to WP:PLACEDAB mean that articles about South African places should be disambiguated as "X, South Africa" rather than "X, Province". If you disagree I could revert the move, but you may want to discuss with Htonl first. Lennart97 (talk) 12:17, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dodger67: Lennart is correct - the policy at WP:PLACEDAB has changed to disambiguate South African places by country rather than province (unless "Place, South Africa" is still ambiguous of course). I mentioned this on WT:ZA but it may have got lost in all the arguing over old vs. new place names. - htonl (talk) 16:07, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Got it, thanks. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:03, 4 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

About edit on AI accelerators page edit

Hello, your comment on my edit does not describe what is "rv blog spam". Please let me know your concern, so that I can put a subsection/edits on "AI accelerators leveraging sparsity" - which is a common recent trend. Thanks. Shailldve (talk) 21:40, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Shailldve: That wasn't me - MrOllie reverted your edit. Lennart97 (talk) 21:43, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Marvel Tales edit

Thanks for your help with those "Fantasy <>" dabs and redirects. Can I ask for your opinion on a similar, but simpler, case? Marvel Science Stories was titled Marvel Tales for part of its run, and there is also a semi-professional magazine Marvel Tales, which I've just created an article on at Marvel Tales and Unusual Stories. There are also comics with that title. The existing article at Marvel Tales covered all three topics, but I've just removed the non-comic information. I think there's no primary topic here so a dab page would be the right answer, moving Marvel Tales to something like Marvel Tales (comics). I'd like to go ahead and do the moves immediately but thought I'd get your opinion first since you appear to have experience with dab pages. Should I wait and do an RM? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 03:36, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Mike Christie: If you're confident that there is no primary topic, then your proposal sounds just fine to me. On a side note, should Marvel Science Stories not mention its alternate name in the lead, something like "Marvel Science Stories (known as Marvel Tales between X and Y)"? Lennart97 (talk) 10:19, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would think it's the primary topic but I guess editors of the comics article might disagree, so I'll start an RM. Re Marvel Science Stories, there were two alternate titles (the other is Marvel Stories), each for only two issues, and I think that would be unwieldy in the lead, but it could be done. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:57, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
These things are probably related: if the alternate name was only for two issues, how many readers do we expect to search for this magazine by that name? An RM is a good idea and will likely answer such questions. Lennart97 (talk) 12:02, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've done it as a proposal on the talk page of Marvel Tales, which is the place where there might be objections. I can make it an RM if it seems like a necessary step. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:06, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would definitely recommend an RM, as the talk page notice may easily go unnoticed. An RM will ensure that people with an interest in this topic area have a chance to voice their opinion. Lennart97 (talk) 12:10, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK, will do. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:11, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mohican page move request edit

A quick word of thanks here, User:Lennart97, for your help in guiding me through the contested technical move request process. Every time I have had an uncontested technical move request turned down previously I have just turned turtle, as I didn't know where to start, how to start, and it didn't seem worth the candle. It makes a huge difference when someone helpful steps in. Yours, Wikiuser100 (talk) 15:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wikiuser, no problem at all and I appreciate your letting me know! Lennart97 (talk) 15:24, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Revert of Mathematica redirect edit

Thank you for explaining your revert in a reasonably civil manner in the edit summary. I was not aware of the discussion in the Talkpage. Having now read it, I am not taking a strong position one way or the other at this time. Cheers! Reify-tech (talk) 17:23, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Reify-tech: Reasonably civil is an appropriate description, I could definitely have been a bit less curt :) Anyway, thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate it. Happy editing! Lennart97 (talk) 21:38, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Jim Fleming (rugby union) edit

Hi there, if you have page mover privileges, can you move this page back to Jim Fleming (rugby union, born 1951) to disambiguate from the other James Fleming (rugby union, born 1987). Many thanks. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 16:31, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Done. Looks like both I and the requester of the technical move hadn't realized that the move we were trying to fix was not valid in the first place :) Lennart97 (talk) 16:43, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
No worries, looks like an unexperienced editor wasn't sure what he was doing. The 51 born Fleming was a referee but did have a rugby career as well so should still disambiguate as rugby union, plus then the DoB to disambiguate from the other player.
