Its not junk if its true.. Someone was shot in the bus station last year... Its a very dirty part of the mall... I think I will make a forward challenge..

On handball disambiguation edit

Yes, it's always better to evaluate whether a disambiguation is really necessary before delving in. In this case I had to reiterate this because another user made a mistake, but you proved my point nicely. :) I'd appreciate it if you could leave a note on Talk:Handball (disambiguation) about your opinion on where the link should point, so that we have it on record over there. --Joy [shallot] 23:01, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gravitor/Carfiend edit

He's starting to come after you now, too. I wonder how long the admin will sit on this item. I am getting thoroughly irritated with this character. I have gotten to the point where I am simply saying in the article talk page, "Gravitor does not approve..." in order to save some time. And notice, if you will, that he has not responded sarcastically or argumentatively to that comment. Because he knows it's true. If I get blocked for awhile for further "egging him on", it will be worth it, if he gets blocked also. Wahkeenah 22:05, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • You're wiser than the rest of us. In fairness to the admin, there may be some prescribed minimum wait time to see whether the "accused" cleans up his act... which Gravitor shows no signs of doing. He's the classic "dog in the manger". Wahkeenah 22:24, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • Everyone stopped playing with Gravitor, and he left he playground. I wouldn't rule out that he's lurking nearby, waiting for the rest of the kids to come back because they think the coast is clear from the bully. Wahkeenah 01:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
      • I'm not saying not to try. You don't know until you try. All I know is, when the RFC heat got too much for Carfiend in September, the both of them disappeared for 3 or 4 months and then came back, except this time Gravitor was the primary offender and Carfiend merely parroted him a few times. Offensive Comment? edit

You are aware he is pretty much dumping on everything that he US stands for right? I have a right to keep my profile as I will and it's not his job to censor my views because he doesnt like them, if we removed everything that people found offensive from Wikipedia there would not be much left. Given that his objection derives from me discussing Nazism, I guess that means the Hitler, World War 2, hell even the Germany article will have to go in case somone is offended.

people's feelings bruise too easily, that is my point, and he is in no way entitled to censor me.

Any how thanks for returning the comment at least.Cosmic Larva 01:03, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry about it dude and I apologize myself for posting here about it. The only reason I was so harsh with him is free Speech is something I feel very strongly about, and I dont think it's his place, whether Wikipedia enables him to or not, to declare something he finds offensive unfit for MY user page, a place where by definition I put my thoughts and opinions. I dont think I should feel liek I need to censor my thoughts or opinions because someone may be inveribly offended by them. Either way the comment he removed was far from offensive, it was a reference to a TV show which apparently he didnt get for one reason or another.

Any how sorry to have taken up your time. Cosmic Larva 01:25, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

My bad, not vandalism - I hit the revert button as the other user did, and in error reverted his or her correction of vandalism. I have now put it back, as I spotted the error immediately. Oops. LeeG 23:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, I think there was a lot of confusion due to everyone hitting the revert button at the same time ;-)... Tim.bounceback - TaLk 23:11, 26 March 2007 (UTC) (copied by me from Tim's talkpage) LeeG 23:18, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Falklands War article edit

Lee, can we come to some agreement of this issue, with regards the opening paragraph, as it stand all the alternate English language names for the war are listed with the sole exception of the "Malvinas War". Surely this is not reflecting a balanced and neutral POV. regards--Vintagekits 17:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest edit

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:50, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
