Speedy deletion nomination of MeleeKart edit

Hello LePotatoRings,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged MeleeKart for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Swibe (talk) 06:09, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

I understand you're attempting to raise attention for a game you care about, but you must understand that Wikipedia is simply not the forum for this type of activity. In order for an article to be acceptable on Wikipedia, it must be demonstrated that the subject matter of the article, whether it be for a living person or not, is notable enough to merit its existence as an article (among many other requirements). The full text can be read here.

In this instance, the game you are attempting to write an article for does not meet said criteria, primarily due to a lack of significant verifiable coverage.

You may continue to work on your article, of course; you should try to demonstrate why this game is important by adding reliable sources. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please feel free to add a new section in my talk page. Swibe (talk) 07:39, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I understand... edit

So you mean, the article is good, but it needs sources. LePotatoRings (talk) 08:26, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

It needs to show that it is a noteworthy topic which you can achieve by adding sources, yes.
I suspect, however, that you may be unable to do so, as this does not appear to be content that would be subject to significant, verifiable coverage. See here for more detailed information on what you should try to avoid.
Please keep in mind, though, that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Articles that do not meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability will most likely be merged, redirected, or deleted. Swibe (talk) 17:22, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of MeleeKart edit

The article MeleeKart has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

article written explicitly for promotional purposes (see article history) -- non notable game

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
