Keeling curve article

i made edits to the article on the Keeling curve CO₂ data and they disappeared...how to i find out whom to work with to add some analytical material to this article...doesn't the system inform a contributor of changes to their changes?

Oh, it looks like a user removed your info because it was unsourced to a reliable source, so the user removed the content which at the time was fine. If you need help with that article relating to the topic, I would highly recommend this link. Also if there is a page that you frequently edit, just add it to your watchlist. Connolley's reason in the edit summary was "OR, I think, unless you can find a source for the fit (not just the numbers)". "OR" means "original research", which is not used in Wikipedia. (edit conflict) PS. In the Vector face that I use to edit Wikipedia, there is a symbol to the right of my username at the very TOP of each page. That symbol is usually a white zero (0) on gray background. That is the notification symbol and it turns red when there are notifications such as when your edits are reverted. Click on that symbol and it will show you your recent notifications. If it isn't working then go to your Preferences and click on Notifications to set it. – PAINE ELLSWORTH ^CLIMAX!

raster article

OK, then let's get the 2 images attached to my 2 articles...both images are probably on W's servers somewhere, or i can upload them again...

You don't seem to have uploaded any other images. To prevent losing images in future I suggest you add the "file description page" to your browser bookmarks after you have uploaded the image, so you can get to it, and you don't have to remember the file name.

OK, we've linked the raster data article with its image. I'd like the file name to be shorter if possible - do i upload the image under another name, or rename it; and how does the article refer to the image? The OTHER article on point pattern analysis has lost its image, probably because i've been unable to give it permissions that W was happy with. There needs to be a simple template (not sure if this is the correct term) for uploaded images that are completely one's own work. Thanks for your help! Don't worry too much about the file name. It's too much of a fuss to change it.

To reference an image in a page, use the following syntax:

[[File:filename goes here.jpg|280px|thumb]], where "280px" is the width (you can leave this out if you want)

point pattern analysis article

YOU WANT A QUESTION HERE? SORRY, I DON'T UNDERSTAND...OH MY - I GUESS I SHOULD TRY TO FIND A BOOK ON WRITING FOR WIKIPEDIA...SUGGESTIONS?

1. I wrote an article on point pattern analysis that used a graphic I created completely from scratch, but apparently I didn't add the requisite permission template, so the graphic seems to have been pulled. Please help me do the right thing.
2. I began an article on raster data but can't find it.

You appear to have overcome the licensing hurdle. I agree with you, uploading images to Wikipedia is no easy task – I believe some improvements to the system are planned.

Sorry, i don't see a 'view history' tab, but do see a tab that would let me move User:ldecola somewhere, which isn't what i want to do. i feel like i'm missing some basic tutorial-type information/experience.

Hmm... I don't understand why you don't see a "view history" tab. Oh well, if you find the "move" button, that should do the trick. Your draft page is currently stored at User:Ldecola (click the link to prove it!), so you actually do want to move the "User:Ldecola" page. It won't change your username or anything.

I moved ldecola (which i guess is ALL my stuff, but is only the page i'm working on) to 'Wikipedia: Point Pattern Analysis'...the tutorial doesn't say anything about how to 'go public.' Citation for the data in an image

If you go to the article at the eca website and click on the "tools" button, it will give you some options on how to cite it. You should be able to take that block of text that appears below "How to cite" and parse out the authors, title, etc including the doi and format a {{cite journal}} template accordingly. Sometimes you get a fully fleshed out Wikipedia citation, but I don't think this site offers that as an option. Is this sufficient help? I edited the caption citation at Wikimedia Commons, which takes readers to a simple link to the journal article in the reference section. I'd have preferred the reference to contain the full article citation and a link; i'll try that next. —Ldecola (talk • contribs) 14:57, 29 August 2019‎ (UTC)

While it's good for the description on Commons to contain a citation to the data source, the caption in the Phenology article does not come from Commons, it's coded in the wikitext next to the image call. When I looked at it last night, it was a barelink, a just acceptable, but not preferred, form of citation (for more info, perhaps see LINKROT).
