Hello (Re: Adoption)

Before we get into adoption, tell me a little more about yourself. You username sounds as if you come from the Los Angeles International Airport. New York Dreams (talk) 05:20, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm looking for someone who is more into Baseball articles. I only created the wrestling article because is was requested at WP:AFC. New York Dreams (talk) 05:26, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

NYR07

Well, I just began to make the article. We can still both work on the article simultaneously. But first, I am going to check in wwe.com's archives for the feuds leading up to the event. Cheers, Lex94 Talk Contributions Guest Book 19:43, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adopting Pearrari

Ah, yes... I would welcome a coach! I've got lots of questions... procedural questions... technical questions, and sometimes I could just use a second set of eyes to help ensure I'm contributing appropriately and with proper quality. Often I have been able to find help in wikipedia itself, but sometimes the culture or details escape me. Sorry... I don't know anything about pro wrestling... guess we'll share an interest in wikipedia, though. How does "adoption" work? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pearrari (talkcontribs) 03:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks! So do we just communicate in this fashion? For example, I have a question. I just undid a bit of vandalism on the Credit card article. The user was not (no surprise) logged in. When I run into this kind of thing, should I just revert it or is there something more I should do. Once I put a level 1 warning on a talk page, but I then thought this was probably a waste of time and space since someone identified only by their IP is unlikely to come back and read that talk page... not to mention give a hoot. They knew they did something inappropriate. So is there anything beyond reverting the vandalism that I should typically do?--Pearrari (talk) 16:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Any thoughts on the above?
  • I also noticed this article about a little subsidiary Symitar. I wonder if this should be removed. If we have articles about every subsidiary and division of major companies... Funny thing is, the parent company doesn't even have an article at this point. Feels to me like a few folks from the division just thought they wanted an article. It's already marked as an orphan. Thoughts? How significant should a division of a company be before it gets its own article? Similarly sized divisions of Fiserv aren't even mentioned in the Fiserv article, much less having their own article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pearrari (talkcontribs) 03:11, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • I found and fixed more vandalism today. Still wondering if I should do a warning when the vandalism is done on an IP (which is probably how most of it is done) rather than a signed in user. I did last time, but didn't this time... just not sure if it's futile or not to warn an IP address. I found a wikipedia guide that said a warning should be issued, but it wasn't clear about whether that applies when you're just dealing with an IP address. --Pearrari (talk) 18:50, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

well thanks for showing interest in adopting me, i am really grateful , i have no idea how many tings work here . i am an uber noob who has been here a lot , but only learn t about contributing a few months a go , ... i have a million of question regarding rationale for images and talk pages and correct methods of editing ... i would definitely love for someone to guide through all these .. thanks again .... how does this adoption work ? --eatpepsi @ Wiki Project ! Twinkle / VandalFighter

I've come to you before about using Twinkle. Well, I'm finally beginning to use Twinkle now (now that I'm using Firefox instead of IE). I'm also still using VandalFighter, but I have a question: can you open up Firefox from VandalFighter instead of opening up to Internet Explorer? If so, how? Sweet! That worked. THANKS! The Chronic 04:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

For all your hardwork on reverting vandalism. Speed CG Talk 16:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey

Hey hows it going? Well I just glanced at your No Way Out (2006) article, few things you might want to consider doing (if you are not going to already). In the event section give a brief description of what went on in each match. Also try fixing your grammar as some sounds unformal if you want it to be a GA candidate. Also when you create a new PPV article, in the PPV's main article make sure to delete the event you are working on and place a main article link towards the one you are working on. (I did that for you). Any concerns or comments on what I told you just hit me up.P.S. Dont take this as I am under estimating you, just helping you out.--TrUcO9311 (talk) 23:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was planing on doing that, it's just that I was in a hurry and couldn't. I would expand the event section, but I believe I would have trouble with wording. Thanks. -- LAX 23:50, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok cool. Nice choice on picking a NWO ppv, i did NWO 2007--TrUcO9311 (talk) 23:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hhm, I have a few hours spare tomorrow, and have the 2006 DVD of NWO. I'll fill in that section tomorrow. :) Davnel03 18:44, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks. I really appreciate it. -- LAX 19:47, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Hi ... you left me a message when I logged in but am curious to why? PS. your warning should say "there" not "their" at the top of the page.

Sorry if this is not the place to leave this message.

Kind regards,

Jonathanlaventhol (talk) 17:52, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

All it is a welcome from me to you, a relatively new user. And at the top of my userpage, it should say "there" not "their". -- LAX 21:59, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi ... can I ask why you undid my changes to my talk page (where I was making notes about the new user process)? Did I put it in the wrong place?

Kind regards,

Jonathan Laventhol 09:36, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought it was some anon IP doing something to your page. If that was you than revert my edit and log in next time you decide to edit your page. -- LAX 23:17, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image sources

I have reverted your tagging of Image:Super mario sunshine.jpg with a no source tag. The image specifies that this is the box art for Super Mario Sunshine, which is perfectly fine for a source. The copyright for the image is held by Nintendo. Whether it was scanned by a Wikipedian or taken from a website has no impact on the copyright holder, and is completely irrelevant. Pagrashtak 20:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just saying "This is the box art for..." is not a source. You must specifically mention where you got the image (See: Wikipedia:Citing sources#Images). -- LAX 20:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's clear that the source is the box art. Someone scanned the image, but the person who scanned it has no copyright claim whatsoever on the image. The copyright remains with Nintendo. So linking to some random website is totally meaningless in terms of fair use considerations. The same is true for screenshots of proprietary software. JACOPLANE • 2007-11-30 20:25
See Wikipedia:Image use policy for more on this. Pagrashtak 20:41, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh you FUNNY. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:56, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

IDK. It's been for sometime now. What's going on with LAX? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
PLEASE DO. Man these PPV's are hard to write. I'd appreciate it a lot if you do. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. I mean you have the feuds, but then you have to word it in the background. That's the only reason I didn't create the actual Vengeance 06 article, but work it on my Sandbox. How many articles have you created? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 00:55, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. If I get better at this, maybe I'll go after Vengeance 2005. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 01:01, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Cool. I'd probably be the worst person to ask, but if you need help, I'm always available. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 01:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Alright. You know just like Nikki, Naha, and Deep Shadow, we should work an article to improve together. Just an idea you know. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 01:21, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

What's the 3RR? Tech43 08:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Am I going to get blocked? Tech43 08:51, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I seriously wasn't trying to be disruptive. I feel that guy was, and if anyone should be blocked, it's him. I wasn't trying to disrupt but rather construct. Tech43 08:58, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's ironic. i usually contribute in trying to get an IP blocked, and now i'm in danger. He's been disrupting other pages as well. I'm surprised this didn't happen to me 6 days ago to be honest. I had a similar situation. Tech43 09:04, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

As long as he gets blocked along with, I'm fine. I was getting tired of it. At least the guy last week gave up. Tech43 09:08, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. So, I see you like wrestling too. I'm a huge fan, so, you're cool now. Tech43 09:12, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you watch TNA alot? Tech43 09:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No. I watch WWE more. The only reason I watch TNA is because i think Gail kim is hot. In fact watching her is what got me watching TNA. Tech43 09:23, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Right now? Probaly the Undertaker. All-time? Heidenreich. I thought it was funny when he raped Michael Cole. Tech43 09:29, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I used to like Edge until last Friday. That Vickie Gurrero thing is sick. Did you Heidenreich at all? Tech43 09:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Everyone did. I honestly don't think he was as bad in the ring as people say. He wasn't the greatest, but he had his moments. Why did Thinkblue give you the finger? I thought you guys were friends! Tech43 09:42, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You know he'll come back right? Tech43 21:13, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why did they block him for 72 hours, and not 1 week? If I was an admin, i would indef. block him, actually! Tech43 21:17, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know. That's why I'm not an admin! i would probally accidently do some stupid stuff. 21:24, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind. But honestly, If I had power, that would not be a good thing. At least right now. besides, I'm not popular and i've made only 400 edits in a year and a half. Tech43 21:31, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yup. I almost quit being a Wikipedian after like 20 edits. My friend made those 2 edits in December. I told him not to do it again. So, I did take a 9-month hiatus. Then I returned and inconsistently edited. Nowadays I combat vandalism, and my main goal now is to eliminate cyberhawk. Not in a bad way, but, I just can't get over what happened. Tech43 21:43, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you and Thinkblue should be admins. You 2 would be great. Tech43 21:47, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think that might be it. It's that thing he does after you turn around and hits you. (Sorry, there's some moves I know and the others I have no clue on). So, do you think you might be going to WM24? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:46, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maybe. If it is indeed true that No Way Out is going to be here in Vegas, then I'll go to that one. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 03:55, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I'll try. Well, Goodnight LAX. I'm off to go see SmackDown!. Have a great night. I'll talk to you tomorrow. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 04:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey, is Hornetman back (again)? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:30, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, okay. I thought it was him. Hey, I think User:Kevinbrowning is a sockpuppet from User:La Parka Your Car. I don't know if you were here, when Parka was adding and removing information stating "cite it" and adding a lot of {{fact}} tags. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:59, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I filed the info. But, do they do it from here or do I have to copy it and leave it in the RFC section? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:40, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Were they really, or did they just "appear" that way? 68.39.174.238 (talk) 01:33, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a little note about the editor above. He is one of the best at sorting out articles infested with linkfarms. He has tens of thousands of excellent edits. And he's been begged countless times to take on a user name so that he could be appointed as an administrator as fast as the RfA could be completed. But he remains an IP on principle, because this is the encyclopedia that anyone is supposed to be able to edit. I looked over the edit in question, and believe that it was entirely appropriate; I am going to revert to his version. Please don't revert without really looking at the changes. Risker (talk) 01:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The "warnings" were due to an overzealous, but well intended, vandal-reverter bot which was in turn reverted both times due by other users. 68.39.174.238 (talk) 01:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the want you

I will think about joining. It isn't that I don't want to, just that I don't know if I am cut out for it. I am very bad at editing and staying on task, and if I join, I fear that I would burden the collaboration more than benefit it. Plus, choosing a name is much to tramatizing! :) Nonetheless, I will consider it. Thanks :))). -76.188.26.92 (talk) 06:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC) (no, those aren't double chins- just extra smiles growing out of its face...somehow)Reply

Oh, if I do join I demand want several things:
to be your wikifriend/adoptee
a recruiting message like the one on my talk page. But personalized (if yours is and you don't want to share)
an explanation of what is happening on between the last to vandalizers of this page. The former vandalized it and then the latter replaced that with their vandalism, then the former warned (ironically) the latter about the vandalism whole at the same time being warned by me about their own vandalism. They could be the same person, but I am still confused-ish.

Thanks again. -76.188.26.92 (talk) 06:50, 9 December 2007 (UTC) (now I have a talk page! Hooray!)Reply

Alright I will, but you gonna have to do more than just the aftermath section, or are you making a big aftermatch section?--TrUcO9311 (talk) 15

Oh Thanx but I just put the infobox, the name and sources and table of contents there, an IP added the rest of the info.

Oh yeah in the aftermath section you might want to mention how SS 07 was criticized by many as it only had one Survivor series match, uses this source to back it up. [2] (its reliable)TrUcO9311 (talk) 15:39, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well in the D2D article, it says how that event was the lowest buyrate PPv acording to Slam Sports, so idk. Just letting you know. So yeah i began work already!TrUcO9311 (talk) 15:58, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I saw the graphics, and it kinda looks real, and maybe all TNA fans can get part of the "action". But, I prefer playing SmackDown vs Raw. Do you have any of the games? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:12, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

So do I. I have Madden NFL 07, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, Halo, MLB Slugfest, Batman Begins, I have more, but these are the ones I play a lot. How 'bout you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 23:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Check out 156.34.216.38

This IP has made a lot of changes today... I can't be sure what's going on but some of them don't look good, and some seem to be quasi-admin stuff... some seem possibly okay. If this is intentional vandalism, it could be a pretty big mess given the number of edits. I could use a second set of eyes.--Pearrari (talk) 03:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's at contributions--Pearrari (talk) 03:29, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
This edit in particular is troublesome as it contains changes to words that introduce obvioius mis-spellings, and # changes that make me feel like I'm seeing a clever vandal at work. Finally, the kind of templates being used don't reflect a novice user with 2 days' experience, but the IP has only that history.

Thanks...

...For the welcoming message. Maybe I'll see you again. --Qebafhzn (talk) 03:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Possibly any facts can be put into the "did you know?" section (as long as it's a true fact). Preferably, the fact should have something to do with this month (events/births/deaths/etc. that happened in December; that why I set D2D has the default "featured article"). The page will change every month (with new facts, featured stuff). The Chronic 15:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:300X450gab07.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:300X450gab07.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

New Year's Revolution 05 Construction

Hey, Adamaniac here. Just a question as to why the New Year's Revolution poster image was deleted in my sandbox construction of the article but not the WWE New Year's Revolution article itself. Does it not serve the same purpose? I may be wrong, not knowing about much here, but it seems to do exactly the same thing and all other PPV pages hold their posters. Or is it just until the article is finished? Just wanted to know the reason, that's all. Thanks! AdaManiac 00:10, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
