Kanye West singles discography other charted songs order

Hi Kyle. Discographies should order by the track listing of an album if there are multiple entries from one album in countries in one week, otherwise I assume you (and other editors?) have been going off the highest peak in the earliest column. That is arbitrary and seemingly an aesthetic order. You seemingly ordered by Australia's highest peaks but yet I assume when the US chart peaks come in in a few days you would have changed those around to the highest peaks achieved there. That is nonsens::ical, especially when some songs from Kanye's earlier albums didn't even have chart positions and have only been certified—what was the order then? "Highest peaks until there are only certification" order? That's not a thing. Track listing order doesn't change and is static in all but the rarest of circumstances. Unless there was some local consensus to override what is basically Wikipedia music article-wide precedent to order by track listing, we should attempt to follow this and not have some contrary order on this one article. Ss112 16:24, 3 September 2021 (UTC)

Ss112 Sorry, I was under the misimpression that this was the correct order after having seen it set out as such; I will follow the track listing from now on. Hope you like Donda! --K. Peake 19:48, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
  • It's not "redundant" if, as you very well know, "Tell the Vision" is in two different versions on both Faith and Donda and, as I pointed out, ARIA and the OCC (who publishes the UK charts) have credited this as a new entry and not a re-entry (and to a different lead artist). The original version with Pop Smoke as lead artist from Faith already charted in Australia at number 47. It would be "redundant" if the entry at number 69 in Australia was a re-entry, but it's not. I also find it inconsistent that you retained the peaks for the Donda version on the article for Tell the Vision. Why do you think it's redundant for one article but not the other? Ss112 07:40, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
  • Ss112 I believed this because not only did the version score a lower position, but it is very close to the original under other charted songs so I thought it would be tedious being too close. Will not remove again unless a version of a song comes out that is seen as a re-entry, but can you please stop posting any comment on my talk page since I can see edit summaries under history on the discography. --K. Peake 07:43, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
Kyle, at the end of the day, edit summaries are not meant to be ways to "talk" to people, only as short reasons for making an edit. Plenty of editors (perhaps not yourself) would prefer to have why they were reverted explained through a talk-page message that somebody has taken the time to write instead of an edit summary. I'd prefer to do both and avoid an edit war over miscommunication. Ss112 09:47, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Piotr Jr. Thank you very much; it is a bit tiring working on his articles so much when I have an actual job, I'll admit that though haha! --K. Peake 07:58, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Support barnstar, and thank you for the message. It crossed my mind that you might be the right person to bring Shoot for the Stars to FA. Look at the archived FAC: the only thing missing seemed to be better prose for the reception section, with detailed hints how to do it. I don't feel I could, unfamiliar with the topic, but perhaps you? - Today's TFA is the first for a friend, DYK? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:52, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt I do not think it is likely I work on the album for FAC sadly, as I may have been on good terms with Shoot for the Stars but I'm not too familiar with the album of the same name. Prepping for FA is hard enough, especially when the topic is not of expertise. --K. Peake 09:10, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
See, that's exactly what I feel, and didn't know about yours. Nothing new has to be added, only the wording for the section trimmed. English isn't my first language to start with, and the world of rap music is foreign to me. - I felt it was soooo close to FA, and would be No. 3 FA started on my talk in 2021 ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:34, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon/archive2, - as you know because you contributed - the article had already support, - I believe that just the concerns at the end need to be dealt with. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:23, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt I was referring to having contributed to the article itself, not the FAC discussion unfortunately. --K. Peake 08:33, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Sorry about my English. I meant that the only opposer (after you, so didn't know if you saw that) did not demand content to be added, just the prose of the existing content rephrased with more variation, and perhaps structured differently. That's something I'd take up if it was an opera singer, but I'm not comfortable in this genre. Just explaining, - 3 people died yesterday with no adequate articles, one of them none. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:16, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Donda was actually a really beautiful listen, the spirit of the whole thing. I played it a few times at the office yesterday, then again at home. Very timely, for me. Piotr Jr. (talk) 14:59, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

Gerda Arendt Significant contributions are supposed to have been made for one to nominate an article for FA though; hopefully somebody else will pick up the article that has found more info to add. Donda is an amazing album I totally agree with you there, it's a shame and surprise that critics are divided towards the record! --K. Peake 07:12, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, politics as usual ... Piotr Jr. (talk) 04:19, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Usernameunique Thank you for the barnstar; a bit less than I contribute to the previous backlogs, but still worthwhile! --K. Peake 10:07, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Donda controversy section

Hey, I'm not quite sure why you're citing surname policy here. I'm aware that the critical reception section mentions her full name and publication. The controversy section however does not, so for readers who happen to read the controversy section only, full context should be provided in my opinion. Throast (talk | contribs) 10:47, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Throast The surname policy applies to people who have been mentioned earlier articles themselves, not necessarily earlier in the section. By this logic, wouldn't the full names of all the people that are mentioned in multiple sections be wrote out in each one? To prevent edit warring, I will ask do you agree only the surname shall be there now or should I start a discussion on the talk page to see others' opinions? --K. Peake 15:47, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
MOS:SURNAME, which I believe you are referencing, is applicable for names of people in BLPs about themselves. As this is a totally different case, I'd be in favor of including it due to the reasons I've given above. The publication definitely has to be included in that section in my opinion. Throast (talk | contribs) 16:31, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
Throast Reading that guideline, it does say about people generally being referred by surname past first mentions but also says exceptions are ones like a patronymic. The reviewer has a standard name style and bas only been introduced two sections ago, so the surname should remain... maybe just add "at The Independent" after her surname to make it clear the article was written for the publication? --K. Peake 16:44, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
I'm fine with that, I will add it now. Throast (talk | contribs) 17:01, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
