Rap-up - how reliable?

Hi,
how reliable a source is Rap-Up in your experience? Currently an issue at Recovery (Eminem album). I remember they sometimes get things wrong, e.g. when they recently declared Rihanna's "Rockstar 101" a single, but so did MTV, so it might not have been their fault. The only time Rap-Up was discussed at the RNS it was called reliable. What's your experience/opinion (or what do your stalkers think)?

Yes, the moment your protections diminished he went to the pages and replaced the current revision with the LiveNation source, and replaced it with the BS Weekly source which we discussed. As you can see here, we have both made attempts to reason with him as you advised us. I really don't understand how you could side with a fansite over a major ticket sales site. While LiveNation may not be Reuters, it's not a fansite that Iv'e never heard of being a fan of Britney Spears. Eurocharts

Responding to your note about adding Eurochart Top 100 to articles like Rude Boy (song): No, it doesn't look especially reliable to me (domain seems to be named for the guy, Olaf, who runs it...), but I added it to Rude Boy because of the confusion between what turned out to be two different European charts. WP seems to accept the name Eurochart, so I gathered it had some history. In fact, both Eurochart Hot 100 Singles and Eurochart Hot 100 as previously shown on that article redirect to European Hot 100 Singles, which (in the lede, at least) is the Billboard chart. The ref link for that line went to BB, so I went to find out if there was a non-BB "Eurochart" in existence, or it was just another name for the same chart. That's when I found the OLJO site.

I see there was some Charts confusion earlier (2007-08), but it didn't appear to resolve my questions. Do you think that "Eurochart" is an obsolete moniker for BB's good chart? Or was it always an unreliable source? And: should it be added to BADCHARTS?

Looking at European Hot 100 Singles, I see several "Eurocharts" mentioned in the History section. I frankly can't tell what it's all supposed to mean. It ends with a crippled sentence that hints that... well, I still can't tell.

In future, I can just quash anything claiming to be "Eurochart", and if it appears to be pointing to Bilboard's European Hot 100 I can rename the label. How does that strike you? — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 11:43, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

It would be nice if we could avoid edits like this one, where you reverted him without explanation. I'm pretty certain it's the Nimbley6 troll. There's a community ban in place, but blocking is only ever a temporary measure - they have a dynamic IP address, and a range block would be too broad (their ISP is, I believe Opal Telecom, part of Carphone Warehouse, a major UK telco).

Hi.. (regarding User:A Nobody)

Hi Kww, I just want to touch base here, regarding the A Nobody thing. There were concerns about A Nobody's editing, which led to a WP:RfArb case being filed in which he was named as an involved party. However, A Nobody was having health issues, which of course, would eliminate any participation he might have during the case. However, people were concerned that he was using the health issues to get out of any possible consequences for his editing. To remedy these concerns, I placed a technical block on the account, that, when and if he returned to editing (by submitting an unblock request), that we would be notified and would proceed with the Arbitration case at that time.

As I said when announcing it on the ArbCom Noticeboard talk page:

As a measure to relieve the bickering and to restore the status quo, I have placed a block on A Nobody's account until such time if and when he wishes to return, at which time, the Arbitration Case previously opened will become active.

I cannot stress enough that this block is ONLY to enforce the situation regarding the Arbitration Case, and is NOT pre-judging or judging (or even post-judging!) of A Nobody's behavior. Any administrator who sees that A Nobody has returned and wishes to participate in the Arbitration Committee case should quickly unblock him and notify the Committee via email that we may proceed.

So, the block is only a technical measure, and not a response to his editing, per se. Thus, attempting to classify him as a Banned user (under any such reading of the policy) is premature, and unwarranted. I hope this makes things a bit clearer... SirFozzie (talk) 03:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Just a heads up that a heated edit warring might start over the removal of a false tracklist from the article. At present it has something called US Promo CD - the REmixes, added by User:Ryulong (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) who insisted on adding it as it was sourced to Amazon. But the release is most certainly a bootleg, as it was released to Amazon by bunch of Gaga fans and not by Interscope/Cherry Tree/Universal. I believe that it should be speedil;y removed, but User:Ryulong has a habit of edit warring, hence wanted to give you a heads up that your broomstick might be required. --Legolas ^(talk2me) 11:43, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Sllewellyn does have his moments of disruption; I have had some problems with his edits in the past, particularly with constantly tweaking tables and inserting "TBA" wherever he can. That said, these others are suspicious and quite frankly, I wish there was a way to round ALL of this stuff up and establish them as the same user. User:RyanG222 to me could possibly be User:TheMentalist456 who in turn could also be User:Greenock125 (see here, where one of Greenock's socks has "Ryan" in his User Name. I don't think there's any question now

The checkuser results are still pending but there's a backlog so who knows when this will be resolved. Hi. I saw that you've protected the Kings and Queens article and I can understand that. But can I undo the contribution of 87.6.183.202 because as I've mentioned earlier, the song was not the #1 in the Netherlands. It just reached the first position in the Tipparade, which is just the bubbling under chart and not the official Top 40. Sock?

Began editing just a few weeks ago. Has problems with accepting consensus, bad-faith assumptions of vandalism, illiterate, awkward proposals to "work together" or "work things out" makes me think this could be yet another sockpuppet of User:Eddiep803b. Suspicions are further confirmed by the fact that this user has a sandbox for intended changes to Hilary Duff discography which remove Santa Claus Lane from studio albums. Future works on filmography

Hello! I had a doubt and I want to know if you can clarify it to me. Is there any rule that we can't add future works on a filmography table? The user Olivewildes removed some films on Ashley Tisdale's filmography section claiming we should only add films in the table once they are released. Is that true? Thanks! I understand you point of view but if you see, all the Featured articles about actors have future works listed on filmography articles. Brad Pitt, Emma Watson, Preity Zinta, Miranda Otto, Austin Nichols, Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, and many many others are examples. I don't think there's a rule about it in filmographies. Re:Chart limit

Thanks for the link, I don't mind having 10 peaks, but I strongly object removing Japan's positions as well as its certifications, because Japan's has the second largest Music Market in the world; therefore, very important to include within the table. However, I don't mind if anybody wants to remove one of the tiny markets in the table, either New Zealand or Ireland, the platinum awards on both of which is only 15,000, whereas Japan's platinum is at 250,000.--Harout72 (talk) 22:33, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Chart macros

Let me explain. I never said that I was going to fail "Tik Tok" if LICKI did not use chart macros. He was correcting all the reference MOS, and I just pointed to him that its better to use the old chart referencing method as the singleschart template referencing is faulty in nature (not the method). Also, those Gaga GA articles which have acharts.us in them are before this acharts rule was introduced in WP:GOODCHARTS. I admit I actually forgot about it, and will replace with the registered charts as soon as possible.

The problem I face with the singles chart template is purely reference problem. It authomatically italicizs the online sources (RIANZ, ARIA, MC, IRMA, FIMI) when they are not supposed to be, as well as put wrong author names like Billboard in the author name positions. Thats why till today also I have hesitated in using the template and prefer the old way. Maybe tiresome, but doesnot violate MOS. Hope you understood. I was looking through "Obsessed" macros and saw that the Billboard charts use the old formatting, while the other nations has the "Country (Provider)" format. Any reason for this? Also, the providers are used as the redirect names in many of them, like IFPI, FIMI, ARIA etc, which would be a problem, if any of these articles would later be nominated for FAC as those FAC reviewers will surely point this out. Hence a full expansion of the names in teh references are needed. And normally lescharts.com, italiancharts.com etc, they are not the publisher, just the website name. Will you be kind enough to explain to me why you a protecting this FERROL entry please? User:Attilios has demonstrated very poor knowledge of “FERROL” and not just that, but very poor geographical knowledge in general of MODERN GEOGRAPHY!! He claims to have a degree in engineering and possibly he does... but he is definitely NOT a geographer!! And his corrections in this entry are totally bias and more than just fruit of bad faith I am going to say they are fruit of his luck of geographical expertise!! I do have the November issue, and it says Te Amo peaked at number twelve. Also, the November issue was published in the middle of November, not in the previous month. About the fact the song charted before the album's release, you may not know that a demo version of Te Amo leaked in the internet a long time ago and that was the version the Brazilian radios started to play (mainly because its Portuguese/Spanish title, in my opinion). Would you please take a look at User:SCAMPER 4999, who appeared just after the block of sock User:499 and the vandalism block of User:4912 to continue posting content about the non-existent films about "Brain and Scamper" and has persisted to create new articles that are deleted as hoaxes about the "film". He is at it again tonight, with a new article, List Of Brain And Scamper Show Movie Characters and has the same list of actors supposedly attached. I understand your thoughts about pop culture's lists. There are plenty - but list, in particular the People's Most Beautiful is notable and stand a part from the rest (it is rightly or wrongly mentioned on big network news programs). I am not specifically referring to her (moved on / pass that). It's an open ended / broad conversation considering actors such as Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Olivia Wilde, etc. - that have been on the cover of popular magazine's top lists (i.e. Most Beautiful, Sexist Man, etc) - which all seem to have a notation on their respective wikipages. Because, it seems a considerable amount of pages will require edits. And if it appears on a number of wikipages that have passed through the wiki community previously - it stands to reason that it is perhaps indeed notable and important.Easy12345 (talk) 03:37, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

For the record, I understand the validity of the agrument that it is unimportant - I agree. It just seems it isn't important what I or any one individual deems as important or unimportant, but what is informational to a tested community. Re; Condoning block evasion

With the deepest respect, i do not wholly accept the implied criticism in your posting on my talk page. I have been admin here for several years, and spend essentially all of my time here combating vandalism, either at CSD, AIV or UAA. The user in question remains blocked, and the edit you are questionning was indeed an unblock decline. But we both know that it is wholly possible for a blocked user to get a new ISP, create a new account on this, and edit. My comment was meant to be a warning to him, if he did this, to avoid further vandalism. Perhaps it did not come across that way, but it needs to be looked at in the context of his unblock request. It was not, and in my view IS not, a comment condoning block evasion.
