Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Krisellelaran. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 00:27, 3 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information, Grayfell. My apologies -- I thought that the tag for request edit with the R was what I was supposed to use to indicate potential COI. I will make sure to review the policies again. Krisellelaran (talk) 00:31, 3 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

No problem, I appreciate your effort at transparency. Please remember that Wikipedia should not be used for promotion. That's just one reason you should suggest changes on article's talk pages instead of making them directly for subjects where you have a conflict of interest. The exception is trivial grammar or typo fixes, or for reverting clear-cut vandalism. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 00:38, 3 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

November 2016 edit

  Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "save page" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 03:13, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
