The three articles that I would like to do for the final project is Philippe Grandjean, Eduardo Benito and Edward Fella. The reason why I would like to do one of the three choices because they all created a typeface and had a big impact on typography as a whole. They each seem very interesting and each of them could have a lot more of information for what they did.

Plan of attack for main project

The two articles I would like to work on for the final project are Edward Fella and Philippe Grandjean. These pages are both stub articles and both need a lot of work to get them to a good article. I have done a little research for both Fella and Grandjean and have thought of a way to add and expand both of these articles. Both Edward Fella and Philippe Grandjean have created a typeface, Fella crated outwest typeface and Grandjean created Romain du Roi.

The research I did on Edward Fella has shown me much about him and a good amount of things that I could add to his page. A detail I found was in a book review done by Steven Heller for Fella's book Letters On America. Fella worked for thirty years as a bullpen "commercial artist" doing brochures and illustrations for the auto industry Also according to an article I found by Speider Schneider Fella had an creative way of coming up with designs.It seems like he did not follow trends and created designs by combining many different styles to create one of his own. Edward Fella's AIGA page say that the work that he is known for today came from his freelancing days, in between jobs he would come up with many different types of designs so he could try and pick up different type of customers. The information that I have found seems that it can be used in a tab describing his work going from early to later work. Also the information i found so far helps explain how his style was creative and unorthodox.

The research I did on Philippe Grandjean did not help me that much. most of the information that is already on the article for him is the information I found. It is a bit more expanded in the information I found than the article but there was not a lot of new information. An example of is when making Romain du Roi they used a grid divided into 2000 squares which the lettering was actually designed in according to Max Boam's post type eh?, also from this post Grandjean was the one cutting the type. There is also something I found on Identifont.com that states that Grandjeans interest in typography started when he met with a parisian printer and from then he was fascinated in designing type. These sources are not exactly the most trust worthy and these are the only places that I found something different from what was already posted on the article. There seems to be little to no information about Grandjean maybe with more digging around or there maybe more information in the library that I could not find through the database I looked in.

These two articles are really interesting and should have bigger pages for what they actually did and would be great for the final project. There is still more information that I could get and need for the article, but for a base line this what I have for my two choices. One has more information than the other but with time and help I hopefully come up with a lot more information that could help these articles grow.

Any success with the change in search strategy that I suggested at the end of class? Notice the way I made that link list... into a list. I tried looking in the database using what you had told me and looking in 5 different articales and did not come up with anything related to Grandjean. I have not tried looking in google or anywhere else yet. Kpol1298 (talk) 22:52, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Plan for article

Looking at the article for Ed Fella and other articles a lot of things need to be added to have this go from a stub to a good article. One thing is to organize the information that is already there,then add sections like early years,early work, education, etc. Once sections are there we need to add pictures of Ed Fella himself, typeface's being Outwest and Fellaparts.
