Iferouane edit

Hi. I noticed here that you requested a citation for the claim that the Aïr and Ténéré Natural Reserves is the largest protected in Africa. The source on which the claim is based is this. Cheers, –Black Falcon (Talk) 14:08, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. May be this is largest nature reserve but not the largest protected area. Ahaggar National park is much larger [1] - 540 000 : 77 000 km2. --Kikos64 (talk) 14:41, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's strange... Our article on the Ahaggar Mountains mentions the park as having an area of only 3800 km². UNEP (link) gives a figure of 45000 km². UNDP (link) gives a combined figure of 452000 km² for Tassili n'Ajjer National Park and Ahaggar National Park. Have the boundaries of the park been expanded substantially since it was established in 1987? –Black Falcon (Talk) 14:58, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
UNEP entry is erroneous - it reffers to Tassili NP. May be UNEP is reffering to strong protected area, not to all park? Any case according to this link area of Tassili is 80.000 km2 vs 77.000 in Air. --Kikos64 (talk) 16:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've changed the article to simply report the size of the protected area. I'm not sure how to reconcile so many conflicting numbers, but I assume that the sources must, as you say, use different definitions to determine area (such as different levels of protection, perhaps?) or that the size of the protected areas has been changed over time. –Black Falcon (Talk) 17:58, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thats ok! Many of "big" data bases (like UNEP, UNDP etc.) in many cases have entries from outdated country reports. In some cases tenths years old. Better way is to refer to "original" (home) sources (if we can find such :) --Kikos64 (talk) 18:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Global account edit

Is there any way to migrate to global account with my lv username lv:User:Kikos? This is unused account (as far as I can see). Or can I change my username to "Kikos"? --Kikos64 (talk) 06:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I still have your page watchlisted from our discussion above and noticed your question. As far as I know, unified login (i.e. a global account) is so far available only to administrators. However, I think that you are still able to change your username on en.wikipedia to "Kikos". While Kikos (talk · contribs) already exists (see user creation log), the account has no edits or log entries, so you can request to "usurp" the username at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. I hope that helps. Cheers, –Black Falcon (Talk) 06:49, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! --Kikos64 (talk) 06:51, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Styles Strait edit

A tag has been placed on Styles Strait requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Autopatrolled edit

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 16:26, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion declined: Sidrabene, Ozolnieki municipality edit

Hello Kikos. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Sidrabene, Ozolnieki municipality, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: not a valid speedy criterion and village appears on Google maps. Thank you. Danger (talk) 15:26, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Of course, You can leave this article "as is" in your en wiki, but village not exist anyway :) See there, on official map or search for "Sidrabene" there. Google maps sometimes have realy funny entries :) --Kikos 06:58, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Latvian help needed edit

Hello Kikos, I'm contacting you because we need some Latvian translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on lv.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Latvian Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 18:20, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Conjunta edit

Hello, the word "conjunta" (joint) means in this case that the station meets the three Chilean armed forces and the INACH. Greetings.--Nerêo (talk) 17:15, 4 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The letter i sounds like the English word feed. The letter e is also pronounced, is never silent in Spanish (like the English word desk). Greetings To You.--Nerêo (talk) 13:24, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
