Remarks in edit comments edit

Hi, I've actioned your request on Parasitism. However, it would be much appreciated if you would not make long, controversial and irreversible remarks in edit comments; they're much better made on the talk page, or better left out altogether. One might say "reworded, see talk page". In the case of "the range is", the verb "are" plainly does not fit - the range is a singular thing and always will be, even if it is followed by a list which feels more plural. For example, "John's set of chess pieces was made of bronze" requires a singular verb for "the set was", no matter that there were 32 pieces in the set. However, I've reworded the sentence to avoid misinterpretations. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:15, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice :)
I obviously don't edit wikipedia very much and my intention (from experience writing commit messages as a software developer) has been to try and leave clear documentation on what I'm doing.
The personal guidance on how to do this correctly within wikipedia norms will be helpful for any future changes.
Based on our interactions and your feedback here, if I were approaching this one again now I would open a thread on the talk page first instead of simply attempting to edit and document my reasoning.
And thanks again for the prompt response and the rewording. Kiirani (talk) 09:30, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
