Hi, I found this image that you uploaded. You should include information about the source, and if someone else owns the copyright you need to ask this person to either let the image free as public domain, or license it under GFDL. Someone transferred the image to Swedish Wikipedia, and I would like to find out if we can keep it there or not... It would be great if you could tell me/us what info you have about the picture, including possible copyright status. If you need help to understand the legal stuff (I admit I understand possibly half of it myself) hopefully I can help you to sort things out. Feel free to drop me a comment! /Habj 5 July 2005 13:46 (UTC)

Image copyright tags edit

Hi! You've uploaded some pictures that really help out the articles on the Omaha area; thanks for doing that. However, we need to be sure that the images are actually free for use on Wikipedia. Here's what to do:

Go back over the images you've uploaded. You can see a list of your contributions here. On the image description page (like this one), click on "edit this page" at the top. If you took the photograph (or created the image) yourself, that means you own the copyright to the photograph. To use it in Wikipedia, we ask that you either license it under the GFDL or release it into the public domain. The GFDL is a license which allows anyone to use the image for any purpose -- they may sell it, they may copy it, they may alter it, however they choose. The two main conditions of the GFDL are that the author (you) must be given credit, and that any future use of the image must also be licensed under the GFDL. Releasing an image into the public domain essentially means that you give up your copyright to the image, allowing anyone to use it for any purpose without any further restriction. (It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the idea.) If you want to use the GFDL, put {{GFDL}} on the image page. If you want public domain, put {{PD}} on the page. Be sure to also put something like "I took this photo" or "I created this image", so that we know that you own the copyright. For photos which you didn't take, please indicate where you got the photo, and any other information that will help us know if we can use the photo. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me on my talk page, I'll be glad to help. Please be sure to do this, or some of your images may be deleted in the near future.

Thanks again! kmccoy (talk) 10:22, 18 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Minny edit

Nice photo of the city from the airport, but you might want to cut down the size just a tad. Wahkeenah 00:21, 30 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

OK, I tinkered with the pixel size and made a couple of other changes. I'm no expert on it by any means, I'm just copying what others do. The photo is pretty small now. You could adjust the pixel size to whatever size you want. Wahkeenah 00:50, 30 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Omaha 33 (3).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Omaha 33 (3).jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know on the image description page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Thanks so much. --Secretlondon 18:34, 23 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Brandy & Mr. Whiskers.jpeg.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Brandy & Mr. Whiskers.jpeg.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
