You must change your username

  Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Arcapita", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it violates our policy against names that represent the name of a company. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. —swpbT 12:25, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Editing Wikipedia

edit

Hello Mr. Lockhart, thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I notice that you are editing on the topic of your company. This isn't a problem automatically, but please appreciate that all edits must be strictly factual and not anything that could be considered in any way promotional. They should also be backed up by reliable sources that demonstrate them to be true, although your article does look OK on that front.

Please also just remember that almost all edits to Wikipedia are public and on-the-record, and may be examined by journalists wishing to examine the work done by your organisation, so you may want to ensure that you have been formally authorised to publicly represent your company by editing its Wikipedia page. You may want to request edits in order to allow other experienced editors to give feedback on your suggestions.

Below this I've put a more formal explanation of the rules of editing Wikipedia for topics like your organisation. All the best, any questions just let me know and I'll try to help. Blythwood (talk) 16:41, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, KevinLockhart. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blythwood (talkcontribs)

Notice

edit

A COI disclosure on your user page is a necessary component of meeting WP:PAID. I put one there for you, but I see you've removed it. If you intent to continue editing, you will need to replace it with the same or an equivalently clear statement of your COI. (And you will need to propose edits to articles related to your COI on the article talk page, as has been explained to you.) —swpbT 18:05, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
