Regarding Gnolls edit

You reversed my "undo" of an anonymous deletion with this comment: "unfortunately this is OR unless citations can be found". What are you looking for in terms of original citation? The deleted statement ("The word "gnoll" is an apparent misspelling of "gnole" (The first edition D&D was full of typos and misspellings; note the misspelling of "Dunsany" in the original text).") is true as stated, and the relevant documents are already referenced.

Thanks.

I'm looking for a direct citation that "gnoll" was a misspelling of "gnole," and not intended to be that way from the start. It's a common convention for writers to slightly change the spelling of a word to claim it as new, so just assuming it's a misspelling is original research. Unless we can find a direct quote from someone stating that it is a typo, we can't just assume it is. -- Kesh 14:48, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm. Granted, spelling changes to dodge ownership issues are common, but the practice seldom (never) includes direct mention of the original creator in the same sentence. For that matter, writers concerned about masking ownership will seldom mask obcure items (like "gnole") while NOT masking relatively famous items (like "hobbit" and "ent") in the same document. What is the line between "obvious to a careful observser" and "original research"? (Edited to reduce inadvertent belligerance.)76.29.124.161 03:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)unclehyenaReply

The difference is between direct observation and inference. The way it's written right now in the article (under Creative Origins) is fine, because it simply details what we can observe in the book. Assuming it is a typo is inference, which makes it OR. Note that he also misspelled Lord Dunsany's name. It's possible they were typos, or his own source had them misspelled, or it was intentional. We can't know unless Gary himself says so in a published source. -- Kesh 15:16, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stress edit

I gave up man. I sincerely meant well. I think this material is very relevant and I did my best in citing it. Revision might be a better solution then simply ignoring (and deleting) some truths. The scientific truth and the world of knowledge must not suffer because of my shortcomings – better citation work (and Grammatik know-how) is needed here not a happy trigger (deleting) finger. From our correspondence you seem like the right guy for the job. Good luck. ThedukeSL 21:38, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Genocide denial edit

Can you write this references in part which speak about NDH and Ustaša. Your english is much better. Source number 1 is discussion about Franjo Tuđman numbers on Croatian language, second source is Jasenovac museum on Croatian and 3rd source is office of Serbia president Boris Tadić on Serbian language. Thanks-- Rjecina 21:38, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The problem is that the sources are not in English, so it's a bit difficult for me to properly cite them. What we need is to use <ref> tags as described at WP:FOOT. It's not important, but it looks better that way. -- Kesh 21:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
You are having now first source on english [1] (about Tuđman) but somebody has deleted everything about Tuđman, Croatia and Jasenovac ...-- Rjecina 22:16, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

First, post your concerns on the article's Talk page. You want to start talking with people about your concerns & the changes you want to make there. Second, given your affiliation with the company, you don't want to make more edits yourself. I'm willing to help negotiate. -- Kesh 23:44, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
