Explanation and apology in the name of Wikipedia edit

Ms. Kassin, we, as Wikipedians, owe you an apology, and an explanation.

We have policies about articles about people like this, called Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, and Wikipedia:Autobiography, and they each clearly say that while article subjects shouldn't write their own articles, they can correct unambiguous errors of fact, which is what you were doing. No one should have reverted that. The editor who reverted your edit apparently thought he was actually helping you, and restoring your edit that someone else had deleted. The whole situation is described at Talk:Katja Kassin#Katja Kassin's edits and revert war; please feel free to read it.

Anyway, I'm a Wikipedia:administrator here, and I will try to keep an eye on this article. If you have any issues that you can't resolve by discussing with other editors, please do put a message on my user talk page, and I will respond to it as soon as I next log in. Or, if you like, and if you have set up an email account for yourself, you can send me email by clicking here.

Again, we are sorry, and we will try not to let it happen again. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 07:31, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome edit

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Respect intellectual property rights - do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
  • Maintain a neutral point of view when editing articles - this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account being blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!
