  • I agree. In Perú for example, almost all young people listen to it, even to the obscene and vulgar content of the "songs". The bad public education doesn´t help to the problem. Also, there are so many discos where the only music is reggaeton, and there are exclusively for teens.

This kind of music is on the radio, the buses, the parties, etc. I respect to the musical affictions, but I'm fed up with reggaeton.

Duplicate userbox edit

I don't like to edit other people's user page, but you used the Uses Encyc userbox twice. (I made it. =P) Goyston talk, contribs, play 01:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adoption edit

I am happy to adopt you if you want. I am sort of actually adopted myself, but I've been around for at least a few months. We can make it unofficial. If you have questions, ask me on my User talk page and I'll try to answer. Does that work for you? Goyston talk, contribs, play 17:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

RE: adoption edit

In response to your message, I have adopted you for now, but if you want to be adopted by user above that's cool just let me know! Feel free to ask any questions you may have either way! Regards, SGGH 19:04, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey KatKiller, I'm glad that you accepted my help. I've placed a welcome tag at the top of this page which will hopefully help get you started. Do you know what you want to do on wikipedia? I would suggest browsing articles on topics that interest you, and perhaps improving them if you can. If you find a gap in the coverage you could create an article to fill it, try to follow the Wikipedia:Manual of Style when you do! You could also check out WP:RA which lists all the articles that people want to be created, all divided into setions for ease of navigation. Maybe you'll see something there you feel like writing! Hopefully that will get you started, any more questions let me know! SGGH 20:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot I'll be in contact with you, don't stop advicing meKatKiller 06:03, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, have you found a wikiproject you like? Any Cuban related articles, or gaps in coverage of Cuba that you could fill? SGGH 00:22, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
YES! I made a small contribution in "Holguín City" article, that's my city, and I can see that article is wrong in a lot of topics, I can fix it and I've made a text with a few addings I can also make new articles about all municipalities of my province, Holguín (Cuba), I made a contribution to Cuban convertible peso talk, explaning a some things about the 2007 issue, if you can edit that article will be great 4 me, I'm not fully ready yet, the articles I wrote about Cuba, not edited yet, are under my sister's revision, she studies English language and English Literature at the university, right now I have some evaluations (tests) in the university so I can't contribute to Wikipedia as I wish to, I'm really busy studyng till next weekend, but be sure that I will contribute a lot, that's my hope. Thank you very much, keep in touch KatKiller 06:33, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Looks good so far, I couldn't find your edits to the convertible peso in the history, are you sure you logged in? Because there were some IP address edits there that may have been you, if it was it's a good idea to log in, in case someone wants to discuss changes with you :) Im going to hunt about and find some article or wikiprojects you might be interested in, and list them below for you. SGGH 21:28, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hope those help, will add more useful things when i think of them, or if watching your contributions gives me a clue as to what you might want to look at! SGGH 21:35, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've made the Cacocum stub and the data I submited for Cuban Convertble Peso is in the article discussion Talk:Cuban_convertible_peso...KatKiller 14:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Red links and Cuba edit

Hola! (I am learning Spanish, because I am traveling to Ecuador in three weeks!) Whenever you see a red link on Wikipedia, it basically means the page doesn't exist. When you added the userbox for "wikipedians with two siblings", it automatically added you to that category of users. Unfortunately that page was just the default for categories: a list of users. There was no actual text on the page. I added a line of text at the top of that category, so the link is no longer red. If you see red links in articles, and they've been there for a while, it means there probably won't be an article on that topic, so you can remove it by editing and just getting rid of >[[the double brackets]]. As for numismatics, we currently have a pretty short page for such a popular, important hobby. It is actually marked as in need of immediate attention from someone who is knowledgeable (see the very top of the talk page). There seems to be a pretty good link section at the bottom of the main article, so you may want to peruse those sites and find more. It could do with a lot more citation as it expands, which you can find more information about at WP:CITE. It is pretty complex, so be warned. Finally in regard to Cuba you may still not be able to edit it as it is sort of locked due to lots of vandalism. However, take a look at Category:Cuba for loads of articles, many of which desperately need improvement. Category:Cuban culture might be an even better match! There are 16 pages in the Cuban culture category, but more in the sub-categories. They should certainly keep you busy for a while. =) Hasta luego, Goyston talk, contribs, play 01:10, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS: Do you contribute to the Spanish Wikipedia? It also needs editing by native Spanish speakers! (But your English is pretty good! =)) The English Wikipedia has 1.635.210 articles, and the Spanish one has 201.079. (Also Goyston talk, contribs, play 01:10, 13 February 2007 (UTC).)Reply

Muchas Gracias, I'll take all your advices and I'll start to edit Wikipedia as soon as I feel ready, That's a way to improve my English and is really good because I'll make my own contribution to human knowledge, I also want to contribute with es.wikipedia and I'll start right now, please be in touch, ok? KatKiller 06:00, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
De nada! I'll be in touch. =) Goyston talk, contribs, play 23:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
And another thing. On talk pages (such as this one!) it's always a good idea to indent using : to make it clear which posts end where. Photographs edit

That would be great! Ideally if they could be uploaded under a free license to Wikimedia Commons. I'd recommend dual license CC-BY-SA and GFDL. What kind of photos do you have, or can you take? It would be great to finally get some in Healthcare of Cuba. Thanks - Francis Tyers · 09:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I haven't taken any photos yet, sorry but I'm too busy this days, tell me wich kind of images you prefer: ambulances, hospitals, medicine students, clinics? By the moment all pictures I can upload will be from my city: Holguín, but I think it will help anyway... I need more information about the licenses, could you or someone else help me?-- KatKiller 06:50, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

A few things edit

Moa, Cuba edit

The comment was removed from the article in March 2006. Are you from Moa ? -- Beardo 05:20, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No I'm not, I live in Holguín city, in the same province Moa is located, I have a few classmates from Moa but I have never visited it...excuse me if my comment was too strong, was just my opinon, thank you KatKiller 20:29, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
No problem. The comment was unsupported and so removed by another editor. But I have not been to anywhere worse ! -- Beardo 15:16, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Music edit

Radiohead and Pearl Jam, eh ? Good taste. -- Beardo 05:20, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm an alternative rock fan and I really like grunge and brit rock, I'll be happy to receive any comments about the bands I like...I'm open to talk. KatKiller 20:29, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
How did you even get to know about Radiohead ? -- Beardo 15:39, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I know, I know that a cuban who likes Radiohead is not a common thing, I started listening Radiohead in 1997 when an older friend with similar musical tastes recommended it to me, this times I was a teen and I only listened metal bands but I got fascinated with the Radiohead sound (The Bends was the first album I listened to) since that time I've turned into a Radiohead fan, I have almost all their original CDs (excepting the EPs and Pablo Honey, really hard to find here). OK Computer is my favourite album but my song is There,There from Hail to the Thief album, I'm glad to know people who likes R... I know it is a common thing in the World, but here in Cuba nobody likes it, well... you should know how the things works here... I want to get Radioheads' book "From a Great Height" in digital format, could you help me?... I remembered that because I'm listening "Paranoid Android" right now ...oh, I also like Douglas Adams books. KatKiller 22:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Paranoia edit

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not all out to get you. -- Beardo 05:20, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you." Is kind of weird but sometimes I agree w/ that... KatKiller 20:29, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:38, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
