April 2015 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Michael Collins (astronaut) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • |rank = [Major General]], USAF
 • Michael Collins (born October 31, 1930), ([[Major General, USAF, Ret.), is an American former [[

Michael Collins' rank edit

Do you have a reliable source for Collins' promotion to Major General? His official NASA bio lists him as Brigadier General, and since he is long since retired, it seems unlikely he would have been promoted? Edits not supported by reliable sources are subject to removal. JustinTime55 (talk) 15:12, 14 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

My dad, Michael Collins, is my source. He says the most accurate representation is...... Major General, USAFR (Reserves), Ret. He was in the Reserves from 1970 to about 1988. He says the Reserves ranks only go up to Major General unlike the active duty ranks - so there is a difference in his mind in that he was not made a Major General while on active duty. I don't think I have edited his article accurately enough yet to reflect this as I do not really understand the bracketing etc..... It's a subtle distinction and may be why bios are conflicted. The http://astronautscholarship.org/Astronauts/michael-collins/ lists him as a Major General as does CNN fast facts.....but again without the Reserves element. The official NASA bio we are familiar with is dated 1994, yet includes no new information beyond the publication of his book in 1974. I hope this helps. Thank you. Help me! edit

I do not know how you work so quickly, but thank you! Question - I apologize for not being at all adept with Wiki - thank you for your help. Another concern is the Gemini X patch with Collins/Young Names is not the official mission patch which I attempt to share here......https://history.nasa.gov/patches/Gemini/Gemini10.jpg The official patch for GX and AXI deliberately did not have names on them. Thank you so much for your help!! KCMCAC6 (talk) 22:34, 24 April 2019 (UTC)KCMCAC6Reply

Thank you coffeandcrumbs. Also, References to Michael Collins, Jr. is inaccurate. He was not a Jr. His name was Michael Lawton Collins. Can you make those changes? Thanks!

Please help me with...updating and correcting some elements of Michael Collins (Astronaut) entry. Thank you!

I don't see "Michael Collins, Jr." mentioned anywhere. Is he mentioned in Collins' autobiography. I have a copy. I will take a look to see if I can mention it and cite it.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 22:19, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
The page only states "They had a daughter, actress Kate Collins, in 1959, a second daughter, Ann, in 1961 and a son, Michael, in 1963." I think that is fine. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 22:31, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please reply below my replies so that this page is easier to understand. Your latest question is more difficult to address. Let me work on that but feel free to list more errors below and I will deal with them if possible. Does the family have a more recent photo to share? perhaps while fishing? ;) --- Coffeeandcrumbs 22:50, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
