Hi! Overdue welcome. :)

Belated welcome!

Hi. I see that you've been here for quite a while, but it doesn't look like you ever received a proper "welcome". While I am partial myself to this welcome notice, it would seem a bit odd to leave you the template at this point, so I'll just have to do it manually. My apologies if I tell you anything you already know. Or everything you already know. :)

So, belated welcome! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia; I see that you've been helping develop articles related to your favorite sport for some time. Good thing we have some people to handle that, because I certainly couldn't. :D

The core content policies on Wikipedia are WP:Verifiability (which says that all information must be verifiable to a reliable source), WP:Neutral point of view (which says that all information must fairly represent what those reliable sources say--can't pick too much of one perspective from any particular source), and WP:No original research (which says that we can't put our own thoughts, opinions or experiences in articles; content has to have a reliable source). You'll find a lot of content on Wikipedia that doesn't meet these core policies, unfortunately. Anything you can do to help those articles reach this goal is great, whether that's replacing non-neutral information or adding sources to support stuff that isn't verified. When you add information yourself, please cite your source so that other people can check it. Anything that isn't cited is subject to removal. :/ Be careful when you add information also to use your own words or direct quotations; see Wikipedia:Copy-paste.

Naturally, you won't always agree with everybody. This isn't a bad thing; one of the things that keeps Wikipedia neutral is that people who disagree about content are required to get together and reach "Wikipedia:Consensus". This is our system of checks and balances. :) If you can't reach consensus, we have all kinds of avenues for dispute resolution. Basically, they all come down to getting other people involved. The consensus process is so important that contributors who don't follow it but try to fight it out in the article when they disagree can be blocked from editing, even if they're right. Without that consensus process, the whole Wikipedia model kind of falls apart.

That said, we do encourage people to be bold in contributing to the project. If you can fix or improve something, please do. There's a lot of work to be done here. :) If you like working with other people, you can always join a Wikipedia:WikiProject. Some of them are more active than others; some of them are friendlier than others. I don't know how active or friendly Wikipedia:WikiProject Football is, but it seems to be right up your alley.

If you ever need general help on Wikipedia, there's Wikipedia:Help. You can even ask a question right here at your talk page, put {{helpme}} next to it (brackets and all) and somebody will stop by. (More advanced technical questions are best asked at WP:VPT.)

Happy editing! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:04, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi

Just to let you know, some people are really against deleting stuff on talk pages from articles. The rules for talk pages in userspace like your talk page here is more flexible. I've set up an archive for you above so it doesn't look too disrespectful. I don't think you were being disrecpectful. You can archive instead of just deleting now.
