The Real People

The Creamy Whirls were actually a part of the band. Both girls were present from the very beginning. Although they didnt sign the Polydor deal with the boys they were an integral part of the band and did sign the management deal. Whitehouse Mgmnt then began to outsource the Creamy's to various bands and record companies, thus their careers began. Mick Swift.

Ainslie Henderson

I see you have removed a link to a fansite. This site also includes a considerable amount of biographical information useful for the verification of the article, and was not merely "link farming". Would it be possible for you to reinstate it? Jud 10:51, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

You may want to refer to our style guide at Wikipedia:External links#What_should_be_linked_to. Generally speaking, fansites are not dependable sources of information, and making exceptions only invites additional links to more unreliable fansites down the road. Unless this particular website is an official fansite for Henderson, I would be wary of its reliability and not in favour of its replacement. Best regards, Hall Monitor 16:57, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Real people/Oasis

Your comment in regard to links

The user was going to non-existent articles, going to the talk page, and putting up a single link, which means that the talk pages would be deleted shortly after. If you'd bothered to check the actual articles before criticizing the message I left you'd see I did not remove those links and instead referred to edits which have since been deleted. Actually there is evidence in the deletion log. Simply scroll down to 21:44, August 11, 2006 and you'll see a series of six talk pages deleted by Xaosflux accompanied by a summary of the content of the pages ie. my nomination for speedy deletion and the sole link to the FASC added by the anon user. In future it's best to get clarification first if something confuses you rather than start criticizing. --TM 20:53, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you're having trouble seeing this, I don't see the logs you mentioned. Since the log keeps getting pushed back, this is where it is now.

To answer your questions, the reason the edits don't show up in any contributions is because once an article is deleted all its history goes with it, which is reflected in user contributions. So both the people who create the article, tag the article, and delete it don't have anything show up in their contributions after the article is deleted. And as to how a non-existent articles can have a talk page: talk pages are just as easy to create as any article. You simply go the article, click on discussion, and insert text. It's so common that it's number eight of the criteria for speedy deletion. --TM 01:32, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

RE: Image:Tony Moore.jpg

You have removed the licensing tag I added to this image. Please replace it. I have an email from Tony Moore, the copyright holder, giving permission for this image of himself, taken from his website, to be released into the public domain in order for it to be used in his wikipedia entry. What is the correct procedure for providing proof in these circumstances? Jud 00:15, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

If you really asked him to release the image to the public domain, ask him to send an e-mail confirming this to permissions AT wikimedia DOT org (see WP:COPYREQ#When_permission is confirmed) and then use the {{PD-release}} tag. But if you only asked for permission to use the image on Wikipedia, the {{permission}} tag should be kept, an the image will eventually be deleted. --Abu Badali 00:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

The actual wording of the request to the copyright holder was as follows. I specifically mentioned that they would be made available for unrestricted use.

Hi Tony,

Would it be possible for you to provide some non-copyright photos for use on

copyright is unknown.

Any photos used would have to be made available for unrestricted use to 
conform with Wikipedia's policies so the permission of the copyright holder 
is necessary.

I would say your wording was mostly ok, but his reply was not. He gave permission to use the image, but did not released it into the public domain.

Try one of the examples letters on Wikipedia:Example requests for permission.

Jud, I apologize. I had just dealt with some spamming by other boards hosted by the same company, with the way these ones were added (mulitple links by a single IP address one after another) I got over zealous and clearly assumed too much. Re: External link

Hello there! When I removed the link it stated The Real People fan forum (currently inactive, April 2006) There are some problems with the link:

1. No way to confirm it is their official fan site
2. Apparently it is not active (Last Updated Topic: N/A)
3. It requires registration to access its content.

Even if it is their official fan site and active enough, the last point is a major drawback. Links that require registration are frowned upon, unless they fulfill any of those two points listed there, which I believe a forum does not. -- ReyBrujo 17:41, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
