About your contributions to the teleSUR article edit

Thanks for helping with the teleSUR article. I'm trying my best to make it as neutral as possible. I'm doing a research and organizing information on the 2008 liberation of Clara Rojas and Consuelo González and the network's role in the process, and the legal problems several other journalists of the network have had on Colombia and other Latin countries. Agradeceré mucho tu ayuda. ¡Gracias! Enigmaticland (talk) 14:02, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I've just made some comments in that section. As for the books...it seems the postal service swallowed it up, whether here or there. Juancarlos2004 17:01, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dammnit edit

If I would have known the books would have been lost in the mail, i wouldnt have sent them. I am writing another paper on Colombia tonight, and it would be nice to have those three books.

I have had several articles I started deleted, so I dont want to get U.S.-Colombia_relations deleted. I would like to someday add it to the Template:Colombia conflict.

I always just remember that this article is much, much better than the original U.S.-Colombia_relations. Remember that one?

If you ever get some time, please go over the U.S.-Colombia_relations article some more. I like your additions. Travb (talk) 08:52, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I see. Unfortunately, I happen to be away from any easily accessible PCs (outside of Internet Cafes and the like) right now, as I am supposedly on vacation...that has put a stop to all my Wikipedia editing for a while. Ill try to get back on it by late July or early August. See you. Juancarlos2004 12:12, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza Paz y Libertad edit

Do you know if Hope, Peace and Liberty still exists? I ask because the Colombian political parties template lists it as a "historical party" along with the UP, but I don't think that it was completely destroyed like the UP was. I don't want to move it into the "minor parties" without being sure, however. --Descendall 21:52, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm not 100% sure myself, however possibly yes. Why? Because I believe that they were active up to 2002-3, at least, but I have never heard about them on a national level for a long time. They may still exist on a local level (town councils or so), though I can't confirm it right now. Juancarlos2004 08:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Aguilas Negras edit

Do you know about this? [1]--F3rn4nd0   21:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Saludos otra vez. Contesto en inglés para mantener el protocolo, nada más: Yes, I was aware of the general situation and about the existence of the "Aguilas Negras". Here's another link about exactly the same subject: [2]. As you can see, the reality is that, while the AUC may no longer exist as a formal entity, parts of that organization do continue operating under other names and, sometimes in slightly different but similar ways. Trinidad edit

Sorry I added some non-sense but I was feeling a bit tired and didn't get time to review it properly. Here is a reliable link that can be used to update the article a bit more.[3] Maybe introduce some of it an later review it..? --F3rn4nd0   06:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

FARC-PASTRANA Peace Process edit

I'm wondering, there is no page about the recent failed peace process, which was as or even more important than marquetalia. should we create a stub about it..? at least? Any suggestions?--F3rn4nd0   20:40, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're right. Yes, at least a stub should do for now. I'd do it, but I'm a bit busy in real life so my edits haven't been too substantial lately, so feel free to go ahead. Juancarlos2004 23:07, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

RE: Template:State terrorism edit

Looks like you already changed Template:State terrorism. [4]

Changing U.S.-Colombia military relations link changed to Paramilitarism in Colombia. thanks for the e-mail.

I know how much you hate U.S.-Colombia military relations :)

Thanks for your help, sorry if it bothered you a bit though. In any case, one of these days I'll hopefully have the time to go back and work on several of the articles, since many really need a lot of maintenance (references, tossing out some improper terms, etc.). Best wishes for you too. Juancarlos2004 18:36, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Colombian murder rates 2004/2005. edit

Please update the two references you added at List of countries by murder rate with the pages where the 44.62 figure is. I could only find "45" on pages 5 and 47 in the CCR2005. Looks like we can add a 2005 column now that data's coming in for it. Do you think the decade tables should be chronological from oldest to newest? Maybe also add a "latest data" table with the country, year of data, and rate? -- Jeandré, 2006-12-23t12:14z

Thanks for your message, I've made a few edits in response. The 44.62 figure appears on page 4 of the CCR2005. The UN document does not cite it (unlike the 2005 number, which it explicitly does), but it includes a graph on page 18 that places it within the same rough range. I've also added a link to another source pointing to a 44.X figure for 2004 (it mentions both 44.7 and 44.2), but it's a less authoritative one than either the CNP or the UN (though part of the FS&D team worked on the UN study and is credited as such). I do agree with adding a 2005 column, if possible. As for the decade tables, either way is perfectly valid, but perhaps having the table with the latest overall information at the top might indeed make the list more user friendly, so to speak. Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia edit

I see you're a regular editor on this page. I was wondering if you think the mention of the Colombia Three would be appropriate on this page? I don't know how important the case was in Colombia, but it attracted significant press coverage in the UK. Thanks. One Night In Hackney 06:56, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comment, sorry for replying a bit late. I suppose that they should indeed be mentioned on the page. The case was important enough in Colombia at the time it originally broke, and sometime later when the Three "disappeared", but I'd estimate most people have probably forgotten about it by now. AfD nomination of Alleged 1991 drug business involvement of Álvaro Uribe edit

Alleged 1991 drug business involvement of Álvaro Uribe, an article which you created, has been nominated for deletion. The deletion discussion is located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alleged 1991 drug business involvement of Álvaro Uribe and your comments are welcome. Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 00:56, 5 August 2007 (UTC)0Reply

Didn't see this, as I've been away and have not accessed/edited Wikipedia for a couple of weeks. In retrospective, I think that the incident did (and maybe still does) deserve to be included, even if in an edited form or as a part of another article, but I suppose that it is indeed fair enough to delete the current article as per WP:BLP. I can't deny that it needed, at the very least, a lot of editing. Juancarlos2004 14:23, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

heads up edit

This article Socio-economic structure of the FARC-EP is a blatant violation of WP:NPOV. If you get some time off could you please clean it up? I actually have an article related to this matter and is very very good, "Criminal Rebels? A discussion of Civil War and Criminality from the Colombian Expereience" by Francisco Gutierrez Sanin. You might be able to find it online. Maybe you can use it.. as you can see I've been working on multiple articles at the same time...--F3rn4nd0 (Roger - Out) 07:56, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please help. I see you are the last to edit the FARC article. I need something added and do not know how to make it look correct. In the "Overview" section, the first "citation needed" tag in this section can be replaced with: China View, FARC repeats demand for hostage-prisoner exchange by Du Guodong, January 16, 2008. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-01/16/content_7430938.htm You can alternately use: Catholic News Agency, Bishops and European mediators meet to push for release of hostages in Colombia, February 1, 2008. http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=11652 —Preceding unsigned comment added by N4GMiraflores (talkcontribs) 14:34, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Illegal Drug Trade in Colombia edit

I noticed you had contributed to an article titled Illegal drug trade in Colombia. I am interested in writing a similar article on Mexico and would just like some input if you have any. Possibly what more you would like to add, what topics you feel are essential, etc. It seems like it will be a large undertaking I just want to get all my topics and ducks in a row before I begin. Any advice would be great. --I Write Stuff (talk) 20:09, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note on your recent Colombia-related edits edit

Juan Carlos, thank you for your recent helpful comments to me. In that regard, I would like to know if these edits may stand as such or do they need to be reedited. In particular I am little confused by what you refer to as 'neutrality,' as i tried to simply relate new information, as opposed to offer an opinion, which was duly cited. Thanks again, Mccance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mac canccce (talkcontribs) 13:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

re: Virginia Vallejo edit

Hi Juan,

Just to let you know, I opened a sock puppet investigation regarding Virginia Vallejo. I simply transferred the comments you made at COIN - despite being involved with the dispute, you can still comment. The case for meat or sockpuppetry looks plausible and you adding in any details I glossed over wouldn't be a WP:COI in it of itself for you, as long as you make it clear that you were involved with the initial dispute. - 2 ... says you, says me, suggestion box 19:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Virginia Vallejo edit

I have verified that Virginia Vallejo (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is indeed the subject of Virginia Vallejo. While I have not examined the content in detail, I believe a substantial amount of the material in the article, and in its talk page is in violation of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and intend, after discussion, to delete the bulk of it.
