Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Brokeback Mountain, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 19:31, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi DonIago, I am probably responding to you wrong (sorry). The edit I made for the Brokeback Mountain movie page is copied directly from the Jack Twist (character from Brokeback Mountain) page. I do not understand what you mean by "fourth wall" if that is directed to me. The movie is meant to be interpreted by the viewer; my edit corrects the "factual" information that Ennis imagines Jack being beaten. It is unclear whether or not it is Ennis' imagining, or if the viewer is being shown Jack's true fate. Thank you.

Plot summaries in film articles should only recount exactly what's shown in the film, not attempt to interpret it. It's been a few days now, but IIRC your edit involved injecting your own interpretation into what was being shown, while the original text clearly established (to my mind at least) what was occurring at that point in the film. You're welcome to raise the question at the article's Talk page if you'd like, though! DonIago (talk) 03:18, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Also, please review WP:BRD. When an edit is reverted, it is considered best practice to discuss the edit and try to reach a consensus regarding whether it is appropriate, rather than simply reinserting one's changes. In a worst-case scenario the latter may be construed as edit-warring. Thanks! DonIago (talk) 03:22, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the response! After reading the entry on edit-warring, lordy, I will stick to punctuation edits!
