May 2019 edit

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

John from Wirecard (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am a Wirecard employee and have never used and will never use this transparently named "Wirecard" account for anything other than a) a logo update (which I tried to do here) or b) to update current business numbers that have been officially declared in Wirecard's annual report. I have never and will never make any changes to any text on Wikipedia.

Decline reason:

You have not proposed a new username as your block notice instructs. Your username cannot be the name of a business per the username policy. If you want "wirecard" as part of the name, that is permitted(such as "Username of Wirecard"). In addition, the other elements of the block still need to be addressed. To be unblocked:

If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organization, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets.

So we know understanding is mutual, please state your understanding/response to each item in your own words.

I'm sorry that this message could not be more favorable. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wirecard (talk) 12:45, 9 May 2019 (UTC) Hi NJA, thanks for your explanation. I propose the new username "Corporate Communications of Wirecard". I confirm that this account is used by one individual only, I agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to your organization, and I agree to abide by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and disclose any paid relationship in accordance with the paid contributor policy. The areas of Wikipedia I intend to edit in the future are official figures or a change of the logo (whenever this will happen in the future), or industry issues affecting us, such as associations in which we are members or partnerships.Reply

That choice of name is equally unacceptable. Please read the username policy. Usernames cannot be that of any organization or position; usernames must indicate specific individuals(real names are not required) as accounts cannot be shared. A username in the format of "Username of Wirecard" would be acceptable. As you still have access to this page, you do not need to use UTRS to make your request; simply follow the instructions in the block notice. 331dot (talk) 10:16, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have requested that the user be renamed to "John from Wirecard" so that the new user conforms to the official Username Policy. So thank you for unblocking this account again. Wirecard (talk) 06:33, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
You aren't unblocked yet; once your username is changed, you should make another formal unblock request. It will be reviewed by someone else, but you will need to address the points I mention above. 331dot (talk) 09:28, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
