Philippine heritage project

edit

Hi Joel. Just a brief word here to let you know how impressed I have been with the recent surge of new articles about churches and religious buildings in the Philippines. Congratulations in particular on encouraging all those competent new editors to join you in documenting these important sites. As someone who has contributed to articles about church frescos in Denmark and Sweden, I also appreciate your special interest in ceiling paintings.

I have looked carefully at your project pages but cannot find any lists of new articles, project participants by Wikipedia user name, or schedule of future work. May I suggest you collaborate with Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines in order to create a project page there too which would provide information along these lines and also enable feedback, discussion and wider extensions to project membership. At the moment, it is not easy to enter into discussion on your Cultural Heritage Mapping Project without submitting a request for membership but I think it would be interesting to provide a Wikipedia environment for monitoring and discussing progress. See also my comments at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#Surge of new articles.--Ipigott (talk) 08:50, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Ipiogott for those kind words. I really appreciate taking time to look into our project and see how our new volunteer heritage mappers are adding greater value for heritage conservation and free/open culture of knowledge.
Right now I am very, very busy with my ongoing project for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and won't be back in Manila until I finish the work sometime in September. By then, I would be able to focus more on consolidating our efforts since May, and making them a lot more visible in the Wikipedia community, especially with Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines. In the meantime, the rest of the Wikimedia Philippine board like Josh, Roel, Eugene and others, as well as some of our curating experts in Philippine cultural heritage like Archt. Manolo Noche and Fung Yu are doing the curation and peer review of the articles. Also from time to time, I also check our official heritage map, www.philippineheritagemap.org and provide feedback to the volunteer mappers. So kindly expect more work from me later on. ;)
And maybe we could exchange notes on our studies in church ceiling art?--Joelaldor (talk) 00:19, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I would love to, but I will start adding some more history on Mindoro articles first. :) - Joelaldor (talk) 12:17, 19 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. I think I was already unblocked by someone else before you replied to me, so this is good. Joelaldor (talk) 04:15, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
