ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Chrissakes! I am not even Jewish, I don't live in Israel and having nothing to do with Israel, never been there. I am a proud Ukrainian-American, I've edited and gone to a church of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. I started editing here because massacres of Ukrainians were tilted here, and continued editing about the genocidal Russian war against Ukraine. The allegations against me by the Polish editors were already dismissed a long long time ago: [1], there was nothing to them, a House of Cards theme. Please check my editing again. Please check my device, it is clean. JoeZ451 (talk) 05:12, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@JoeZ451 how do you know Icewhiz lives in Israel? - GizzyCatBella🍁 06:17, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Why are you emphasizing scholarly high-quality sources, in English in edits summaries - something Icewhiz used to do:

I can go on... if you aren’t Icewhiz then it appears that you're pretending to be them. - GizzyCatBella🍁 06:25, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I started using "high-quality scholarly" lingo after this was brought up in a discussion right after I joined Wikipedia, in a comment [2]. The comment linked to a Wikipedia guideline [3] that used that language. JoeZ451 (talk) 18:53, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I have been editing productively for a while, my account was created in 2019 and I've made hundreds of edits, helping the Wikipedia. During 2019 and 2020, I contributed to good coverage here of massacres of Ukrainian civilians. I drifted back to editing an occasional IP editor, but came back to login since pages on the war in Ukraine were protected and access issues without an account. I am not Israeli, I am a Ukrainian-American, you can for sure check that. The accusations about me being Icewhiz were already put under scrutiny in 2019 and were turned down by the admins examining it. My focus here is Ukraine, and if unblocked I will help with articles on the current war, previous conflicts, and the Ukrainian church. You MUST be able to see that I am not an Israeli editing here. The similarity of "high-quality scholarly" lingo is due to this being used in my first discussion here and the users pointing out at a Wikipedia guideline with that lingo. I followed that lingo because I understood that's Wikipedia's lingo. JoeZ451 (talk) 19:03, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@JoeZ451 - Before continuing with more clear evidence (I don’t think it is needed by I'll if requested) that you are either Icewhiz or someone pretending to be one, I'll proceed with this: You sidestepped replying to my first question, which was: how do you know Icewhiz lives in Israel - GizzyCatBella🍁 21:05, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I checked on Icewhiz when I was alleged to be Icewhiz in December 2019, I was cleared. Many of the stories like [4] or [5] say he's Israeli. I was already cleared of being Icewhiz.JoeZ451 (talk) 05:44, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Why do you choose to hide behind a proxy to edit Wikipedia? - GizzyCatBella🍁 06:02, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I do not hide behind a proxy. Years ago I had a VPN to protect my security and access content that wasn't available where I was, but had nothing to do with Wikipedia. This was sorted with admins then. I am not using a proxy or VPN now. I am with a straight through connection right now, this can be checked. Did anyone check my account? Please check it, this should clear up this mixup. I allow you to check me. JoeZ451 (talk) 06:32, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Why did you suddenly, out of the blue, showed up ( after 2 years of inactivity) to challenge Konieczny aka Piotrus again in the most controversial area at the moment? ... let me guess... you just "happened to run across" a G&K essay all of a sudden, right?.. right...
Your behaviour and previous edit history speak for themselves. If you are not Icewhiz, then you are a sock puppet of one of the banned editors noted in the initial report pretending to be Icewhiz. (refer to the pieces of evidence from the original report also note that you are using a proxy) and I do not know who Icewhiz is but you know that Icewhiz lives in Israel. To know that, one needs an in-depth knowledge not simply I checked on Icewhiz. - GizzyCatBella🍁 07:00, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Just a quick one because I'm really busy in real life:
JoeZ here <---> another (now blocked) sock puppet of Icewhiz I dream of Maple GizzyCatBella🍁 13:52, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I thank you for spending your administrative time helping sorting up this mixup. I:
A. logged in on 11 February to do this edit on Battle of Soledar. It was protected and I had to use the account. The discussion on the noticeboard was only opened a week later. I noticed it because since I returned to the login it was on my watchlist and the topic does interest me.
B. I read all about this Icewhiz after I was accused of being Icewhiz in 2019.
C. This Maple account was found to be an account of Icewhiz, and it was active on the Home Army page and maybe somewhere else. I was already checked against that account in 2019 I presume.
D. I am not using a proxy. I am with a straight through connection right now. This can be checked. Use your admin toolset to check that, just spend a little time checking that and you'll see this is just a mixup.

@GizzyCatBella: I don't think it's necessary to argue with this user. I think the Icewhizzy pattern should be pretty clear to an admin familiar with that case; if not, any CU may wish to consult the CU who checked this account (who at the time found the evidence inconclusive, but later found other relevant evidence). -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 22:22, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

One of the blocking administrators, GizzyCatBella, is now blocked as a sock.

I am not Jewish. I grew up in Lviv, and went to college at KU in the US. I am mainly interested in Ukraine, and I want to edit on the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

I do not want to just create a new account, since I spent time on this account and getting to five hundred edits required for editing about the war will take forever. I edited a bit as an IP too, but went back to this account after you blocked the war articles for IP editing.

Please unblock me. I am not Jewish. Early in my editing I objected to anti-Ukrainian Polish material that lionized Polish murders in the great war, which drew the ire of this GizzyCatBella sock, but I edit this because this was anti-Ukrainian.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Please also see WP:NOTTHEM, and be aware that if you simply create a new account that this is block evasion and that new account would simply be blocked as well. This unblock request does not address the issues leading to the block; a personal history of who you say you are and are not does not address this. Aoidh (talk) 11:26, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
