Eva Kaili - Is that what it meant?

What does this following mean? meaning Kali lost her diplomatic immunity allowing investigators to contiune a raid at Kali's property. You added it to the article on Eva Kaili last night. I do not have access to the Le Soir article cited, so I cannot correct your wording because I do not know what the source says. I assume that investigators needed her diplomatic immunity to be revoked before they could search her property. Is that what it meant?-- Toddy1 (talk) 11:41, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

That’s a fair question. It was part of my revisions in removing the unduly prominent “Kali Arrest Controversy” section so it was just moved from there. I’ll take another look at the paragraph and rework it. But, yes, your assumption is correct.

My translation of the original quote would be: "I'm being tortured. This is unfair. I cannot stand this. I am breaking down. What is wrong with the little girl and they are keeping her away from me?" Is this too literal? A more flowing translation would be "I am being tortured, this is so unfair that I cannot stand it, and I am breaking down. That’s a sensible suggestion. I’d also ask the IP to consider its inclusion. It seems like a weird quote to me. Is Kaili accusing the Belgian authorities of having done something to her baby? Seems weird. Jo Jc Jo^{Talk💬Edits📝} 09:41, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

This must be a huge shock to Kaili. She probably does feel betrayed both by people around her (such as her boyfriend) and by the people who allowed the revocation of her diplomatic immunity. She probably is worried about her infant daughter. It is safe to assume that she is not being tortured. But I can understand why she feels that she is. The kind of questioning that she is being subjected to is a tough experience. Being shut up in prison and police cells is very hard for people who are not used to them. -- Toddy1 (talk) 10:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

What is the problem with my little girl, why are they keeping her away from me?"" Yes, exactly! User:Toddy1, yes, it's very tough for her, but the "torture" claim is, I think, excessive. It's what she and her lawyers would naturally say in order to ease her postion and/or obtain a status of house arrest instead of incarceration. But exactly because of this, it's best that it's included as a quote. It's not long, just one sentence. And yes, we can include the original Greek in the footnote (original Greek is "Βασανίζομαι.
