About Copyright violations

Hello there. I'm having some difficulties regarding copyvios on Wiki-commons, and I was wondering if you could gave some advice on it. Most of them are pictures of Argentinian Presidents, and I'm wondering if there is a different way to have them on commons and preventing them from being deleted. Thanks and keep in touch. Bad edit

I'm operator of bot working under user account User:Margosbot. After investigating the case of French Directory it seems that problem must have been with servers.

1. In my log, article is ok. ( I log all info sent by bot)
2. Test using Sanbox was successfull.
3. Applaying again was sucessful.

Conclusion: When a new database dump will be availiable, I'll check all edits. I'm not able to fix servers. The same bot on plwiki made over 5000 edits without problems. Margospl 22:04, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Yes, that was not your imagination. It's true that bad version of article was stored on servers.

Hi, I can't recall putting those links into the article which you mention, and I can't even find these changes in the page's history. Can you explicitly tell me at what date and time I did the changes?? Actually, I'm afraid you are wrong.

Thanks for the tip about not editing talk pages, I'll keep it in mind in future.

Absolutely, you can copy edit me. Does this make mores sense: If the article title includes a proper noun in it (other than United States), such as New England, the article should remain unmodified at that designation. Sorry(?), that is his complete name. The name is not doubled, but his father and his mother seem to have the same surnames. If you for instance look at the name of the other presidents they also use, as the latin custom is, two names (father, mother):

The custum in Wikipedia – as I have understand it – is to use the complete name on the page and (preferable) do some redirects from the shortcuts of the name, in this case there should be one on Alberto Fujimori Xauxa 20:27, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I see now that the English Wikipedia states the name: Alberto Ken'ya Fujimori. However, I have used the name he used in Perú. Xauxa 20:32, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I can not say that the "double" name is much used, though in the listing of the presidents (above) when giving the full names, Historia Visual del Perú, published in August 2004 by the most respected daily paper El Comercio, states his name like that. Of course there are other sources, but that was what I had in hand. (On the other hand, for instance Gran Enciclopedia Universal, published 2004 by the Spanish daily paper El Mundo, only gives the "short-cut" Alberto Fujimori. Maybe it is a matter of taste. International law and the Arab-Israeli conflict

I am having an unfriendly dispute over some information I have included in the refugees section of the article. I put in material relating to international law I see as valid, and Zero0000 removes it on an ad homonim basis. He has not offered any reason for its removal. I am interested in a 3rd opinion, as there isn't going to be a resolution without it. Since you were kind enough to weigh in on the Arabization article to everyone's satisfaction, I am hoping that an equally valid response from you will come in this dipuste.

WP:TIE

Don't panic! The Slovenia parliamentary elections, 2004 item was already listed under Recently Completed Translations about half a dozen lines up, it just hadn't been removed from the Requested translations list - Eleassar777 had left it there with a request that it be checked. I did so and added a note saying as much to its entry on Recently Completed Translations.

I'm currently going through the Recently Completed Translations list adding the translation as a reference to these articles and adding the details from WP:TIE to the talk page, but these details are hidden in diffs going quite a long way back now in the history. Is there a quicker way to get to them knowing the time and date the entries were made? The URL for the diffs includes an 'oldid', but presumably the only way to find that is to find the diff you want in the first place.

List of Stalinists

If it was List of people who described themselves as Stalinists, each one properly sourced, I could go with it. But I don't like lists that involve judgements, particularly where the criteria for judging are not made clear. Take Bob Avakian as an example. His article doesn't say he's a "Stalinist". It doesn't quote him identifying himself as one. So why is he on the list? Grace Note 05:22, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

But considering something "part of your heritage" doesn't make it something you are! I consider the Chartists part of my heritage, but I'm not a Chartist. The List of fascists is very clear that it is selecting only self-identified fascists, and there are enough that we don't need to invent them. There are few Stalinists but plenty of leftists who rightwingers will add to the list if it isn't watched very carefully. I'm not fond of lists to begin with; ones that are so obviously prey to vandalism, less so; but I'm not keen on deleting what others feel has a place either. If the intro was reworded to match the fascist one, anyone who doesn't self-identify as a Stalinist taken out (Avakian was just an example, there's at least one other), and you undertake to watch it carefully against the inevitable addition of people who don't fit the bill, I'd reconsider.Grace Note 05:49, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

Actually, I did read about the forwarding, and was trying to figure out if it was approriate to disambig it. I was looking up more information on the other lesser definition of gang. I did not think putting a see also on such a large topic was appropriate. So if you feel it should be the original way, thank you for pointing that out. Thanks for your response, since the pages have been protected he has left abusive messages for the Polish administrators in on the talk pages of the artciles. Getting a more extended block will be a pain since he edits from Zivinbudas, plus several IPs. I'll leave the pages protected and get advice from some other admins on how to proceed. I'm willing to do the heavy lifting, but I need to be in a postion to act alone without acting unilateraly. The proposed policy would help set up a way to do that ;). I'm trying to push this through before May 20th, I've removed the categories from the proposal because they are not a priority of either of us and as such are only going to get in the way. The notification is my fault, I'll try to post under new headings on your talk page to better catch your attettion. I'll try to be prompt and brief but I really can't do this without you Joe. If we can get the policy passed, that will free up my hands to act. Ethnic make up of Sibiu

Regarding this [3] edit, I think you are correct about the Germans even though I am not sure if I would go all the way to majority, I know for instance that the nearby village of Cisnădioară was almost exclusively German before 1990. But I am not sure about the Hungarian claim. I never heard anything about any (much less a sizable) Hungarian population in Sibiu when I lived there. Although I suppose that the şaşi might just have been better liked. Anyway I think I will look into the issue (read: email my friends that live there), and thought I would drop you a line in case I end up changing it in some way. Dalf | Talk 09:57, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Blank lines

I added the blank lines in The Picture of Dorian Gray since the article is incredibly long and complex. Why would someone need to remove those lines? They don't effect the way the article looks.
