April 2009 edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on User_talk:Vanspronsen, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you.  Chzz  ►  10:22, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Kabar Pagi edit

Hey, just a tip - you put a prod on Kabar Pagi, but it could be done quicker and easier with speedy delete, because it had no content at all. Speedy can only be used in really clear cases like this, but it's useful. I just removed your prod tag, and put {{db-blank}} in place. Just so's you know for next tine :-)

And also...I've got a favour to ask. Heh - note the spelling there :-) As an English person, and interested in grammers and spellink, could you take a look at this discussion on my talk, and maybe add your own opinion? You'll probably think that it's all ridiculously trivial, and it is; but 'featured article' reviews get a bit pedantic. It's about the necessity or otherwise of Wikilinking the word 'interchange' in the article Fountain of Time - I thought it needed a wikilink, but others don't. Anyway - would value your input, in User_talk:Chzz#intersection.

Cheers!  Chzz  ►  11:28, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for adding to the debate :-)  Chzz  ►  13:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sixth form colleges edit

As stated to others -

Schools with sixth forms are NOT sixth form colleges. Their is a BIG difference between the two. Sixth form colleges are independent institutions with their own charter, they are not owned or operated by local government UNLIKE schools which are. Sixth form colleges are also different to further education colleges, as 6th form colleges only educate 16-19 year olds, whereas Further education colleges have adult learners. just changing the categories to reflect that. File copyright problem with File:Nessa.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Nessa.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FinalRapture - 02:12, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Nessa.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Nessa.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 09:43, 2 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Global Arab Network" listed at Redirects for discussion edit

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect "Global Arab Network". Since you had some involvement with the "Global Arab Network" redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Grondemar 13:58, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. -FASTILY (TALK) 03:54, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the spelling of Felis Cattus edit

There is no literal translation from Latin of the word 'catus' wereas 'cattus' produces the translation of cat from Latin to English. This is according to a variety of online translation services including AltaVista (BabelFish) and others. Since the root is of Latin origin I believe that 'cattus' is the correct form. Survey edit

Hi Jennie-X!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. When you recently edited Emma Nicholson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page English (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Invitation to the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy edit

We see that you need a little more understanding of Counter-Vandalism before you're granted Rollback. The Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy exists to help users, like yourself, understand the way to identify and handle Vandalism through one-on-one instruction. Perhaps you'd like to ask a question of our instructors, or perhaps Enroll in the Academy.
