Welcome edit

Just wanted to say welcome to Wikipedia. I have come across a few of you edits and wanted to invite you to take a look at the USMC Portal and see if you can help us creating and editing articles. We are always looking for new contributors, especially ones that are knowledgeable on the subject. Again, just wanted to say welcome, hope you stick around and if you need anything please feel free to drop me a line. Cheers--Looper5920 06:04, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I'm still trying to figure everything out (is this the best way to respond?) as I slowly read through the FAQ's. I would be delighted to assist in any way, let me know if you have anything in particular you want me to look at. I'm overseas and thus do not have full access to a lot of resources (at the moment time is one), but am willing to take a crack at anything. Jct0302 18:11, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Yeah it's best to keep conversations together so responding on your talk page is the best way. For now, just troll around and add to the articles where you can (making sure info is referenced) The Marine articles on Wikipedia have been an ongoing project for almost a year now. For the most part how it has worked is that I have been creating unit pages, ERcheck has been the biography man and Mmx1 has recently started helping with doctrine and customs. ERcheck is also the one to have double check references you place inside articles. I am still not good at that and it is getting on 14,000 edits. The best place to start for what to look at is the Portal. Take a look at the lists on the right hand side and you will see in them what articles still need creating. We have completed all active infantry units and flying squadrons. Still working on logistics, aviation support and traing and education units. Inactive units is also an ongoing task as well. ERcheck has completed all 20th Century Medal of Honor recipients and is close to completeing articles for all USMC recipients. Current General officers is an ongoing task as is keeping info from GWOT up to date on unit pages. That should be enough to get you pointed in the right direction. If you have any question just hit my talk page. --Looper5920 00:43, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
