ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.aaccupqa.org.ph/.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Disambiguation link notification for July 8 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. NPP edit

Hi. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but your posting of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buenavista High School (Tarlac) demonstrates, along with your very little experience that you should not be patrolling pages or tagging them for deletion. Page reviewing is not for beginners; please read WP:NPP, WP:Page Curation, WP:DELETION, WP:AfD, WP:BEFORE, and then wait untill you have significantly more experience before attempting critical maintenance tasks. If you want to help, by all means check out WP:CVU and patroll for vandalism - but only if you are a true native speaker of English. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:36, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • @Kudpung: I'm sorry for sending the article to AfD. I thought anyone can perform this to pages that do not follow Wikipedia's policies and meet the criteria for deletion, either with broad or little knowledge and experience. Anyway, thank you for the notice. Jcmpineda (talk) 12:39, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Anyone can perform this process provided te have significant experience and are aware of our many policies, guidenes, and their exceptions. We do not delete high schools unless they are clear cases of blatant advertising, and even then, the spam can probably be edited out. You will be interested to follow up on he closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buenavista High School (Tarlac). Keep combating vandalism for a while, and then move on to NPP when you have read and understood the pages I linked to above. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:20, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:54, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Thomasites does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. 2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
