Ethnologue / ISO codes
Hi! Could I get back to your offer of sending me the Ethnologue data in CSV format? The ISO lists seem to be missing some codes (e. g. nlz), and also contain some wrong links (e. g. ojg links to Ojibwe language instead of Eastern Ojibwa language), and I'd like to bring them up to date. - Thanks, the file came through all right. Just one question: Is SIL ahead of Ethnologue with the codes? gmv (Gamo), for example, was logged by my bot as invalid code since it isn't in the ISO 639:g list. The external link from the language infobox is working, but I just noticed it doesn't lead to Ethnologue but to SIL[1]; and the former doesn't list that code[2]. - I suppose that has to do with the Code Change history. Compare http://www.sil.org/iso639-3/documentation.asp?id=gmv with http://www.sil.org/iso639-3/documentation.asp?id=deu. The latest Ethnologue is from 2005, and gmv, and some other codes, are later than that.
- There is an official way to register new codes with SIL. Apparently, those codes are not directly entered into the Ethnologue. The wp-ISO list should therefore be amended, and should be based on SIL data, and not on Ethnologue data. Jasy jatere (talk) 16:04, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. A few questions about the ISO lists – perhaps you can help me.
- I thought I knew what the row shadings meant (grey = extinct etc.), but why is ISO 639:avk red, while the other conlangs are green? Do I miss anything or is this just a mistake?
- Should the Family column contain all the top-level families (Indo-European etc.) or is this just for Collections/Macro languages that have ISO 639-3 codes?
- Could you perhaps comment at Wikipedia talk:LANG#Adding languageinfoboxes to articles? I wouldn't like to file a bot request for approval for just 26 pages (the ISO lists), so I thought I could combine this with the request for adding infoboxes.
