Hi Jarnsax. I am not an expert on sourcing, but I get the feeling the way you are trying to clean the mess in Anarchism will result in two huge section (Notes and References). Why don't u use {{r|noteABC}} and then insert at the ref section {{reflist|refs= <ref name=ABC>blah blah{{harvnb|Authorname|2019|p=xx}} </ref> }}

What do you say? I am not an expert in citation styles, so this edit is more like a question on what are the benefits of your method. Thanks. Cinadon36 (talk) 11:32, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

@Cinadon36: It's mainly that I'm just messing with getting the huge chunks of text out of the way first, to make it more managable. A lot of those sources are probably repeated, and not worth moving around more than once if they will be combined. Jarnsax (talk) 11:39, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

@Cinadon36: Glancing at this again later.... you are correct that what I'm doing will still result in a very large notes section, as well as the references. That is not, IMO, a bad thing.... the textual notes in a work are conceptually different from the references, and separating them is useful to the reader. It also allows (a benefit of using harvard references) the actual 'references' section to consist of shorter sections of text, so be folded into smaller columns and use less visual space. Another benefit of separating the textual notes from the references is that, in print versions of the encyclopedia, the notes can be placed at the bottom of the relevant pages while the references are at the end, as in a traditional book.

Another advantage of using a separate notes section is that it allows (by including references in the notes) for further folding of citations, always a good thing.

I'm not, very intentionally, changing the actual content at all... there is much obvious crap in the sourcing here, but that's a different type of editing from the cleanup I'm doing, and it's better to not cloud the purpose of the edits.... also, lol, I have not even read the article. @Malik Shabazz: Thanks... they were terrible. I'm not done yet, intend to finish converting them all to LDR (the wikitext was unreadable) and then fold as many as possible together... I have, as you would expect, found many repeated references that could be folded using {{sfn}} with page numbers. Hopefully, it will make it easier for the actual content people to improve this.... I'm not changing the article itself at all, but there are some really crap sources.

It's also my intent to fix the actual references themselves... look them up, and then properly cite them. Things like a half-dozen references to different copies of different versions of the Anarchist's FAQ, including links to archived dead urls, are ridiculous.
