Image copyright problem with Image:StaindTormented.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:StaindTormented.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 23:52, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Screamfest3101406.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Screamfest3101406.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:05, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

October 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Jamiroquai discography are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you.

Warning edit

I have taken the liberty of removing your claim of Alastairward being 'Satan' (as can be seen here), as I believe this constitutes a personal attack upon the editor. There is no need to be uncivil in this matter, so please keep this in mind in future. ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:39, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright, alright. I hope you don't honestly think i think hes satan. it was a joke. --J miester25 (talk) 22:41, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regardless, such an attitude is not desired on Wikipedia. ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:42, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Pretty funny, though. The "Hey Fuckhead" comment on his talk page by an anonymous user about made me die laughing! Anthony cargile (talk) 22:52, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, i got a laugh out of that too. Appartenly, a lot more people are pissed off than i thought. When I initially addressed this issue back on October 19th, I had no idea that my position would get so much sound with alot of other users. I feel important haha. --J miester25 (talk) 22:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you feel like it, provide your insight on the china probrem talk page. He-who-remains-nameless did not agree with the final compromise, which was backed by all of us and two administrators, and followed what Jimbo Wale's talk page had to say on the issue. If you are as sick of fighting this as I am, don't worry about it, but if you still have a last comment in you, leave it under his section "STOP IT!!", ironically under the "Final Compromise" section (sigh). I found another perpetrator: User:24.174.130.135. In Alastairward's Talk Page, he started the section Hey FuckHead, although he didn't mark his addition which --(J miester25 (talk) 23:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC)) like you are supposed to. Unlike Alastairward, who has brought things up for discussion, this user just completely removed Episode Continuity, which was sourced, and harped on Alastairward for removing original research, which was right on Alastairward's part. 24.174.130.135 violated WS 5.1.1 which i stated in this user's talk page and i provided precedents set by admin Rogerbrent, which this user also violated. I would greatly appreciate if you would tell 24.174.130.135 him to stop removing sourced information and abusing users such as Alastairward. --J miester25 (talk) 23:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source/license for Image:Picture of TOTI CD.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Picture of TOTI CD.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Southparkstudios.com FAQ edit

Its sort of a shame we came to share a point of view on South Park cultural references via The China Probrem. If you're interested, the FAQ section on southparkstudios.com is a great source, the writers add snippets themselves (or have info added for them) on the episodes and references. I've added a few from there myself (including one for The China Probrem!) Alastairward (talk) 00:12, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The FAQ seems to be a bit quiet, don't think there's been anything added since the 13th/14th November. Alastairward (talk) 16:55, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Nervous System 1979 non-promo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Nervous System 1979 non-promo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Image copyright problem edit

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Killing Joke 2007.jpg} edit

Thank you for uploading File:Killing Joke 2007.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Speedy deletion of File:Eminem rapping.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Eminem rapping.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Re: KJ edit

I'm sorry, but I think that you are wrong. Please, see Template:Infobox_Album#Chronology. IMHO, it is better to include only studio albums, and excluding other types. EPs, compilations, live albums, singles can also have their own separate chronologies. Also, they are featured on {{Killing Joke}} navbox at the bottom of every page. Anyway, I don't want to revert your edits, but I hope that you will think about it. Thank you for your message, it was very kind of you. Cheers. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 22:30, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

194.176.125.6 edit

I'm a little curious - why did you start this abuse report? There are far worse IP vandals out there; the amount of vandalism coming from the IP isn't even sufficient to send them to AIV, much less abuse reports. Would you be willing to explain your logic to me? LedgendGamer 22:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you look at his user page, ull see that all the way from 2007 that he has recieved a number of vandalism reports, over 4. He should be blocked from wikipedia because of that. 1. his edits are unprofessional and unconstructive 2. he continues to delete content with out reason. --J miester25 (talk) 23:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've seen IP vandals that head right back to vandalism immediately after a block expires. That's why I asked; by comparison, this IP is fairly mild. Either way, it doesn't really matter. Just curious. LedgendGamer 03:36, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of My Love of this Land edit

A tag has been placed on My Love of this Land requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. roux   02:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Picture of TOTI CD.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Picture of TOTI CD.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Octavarium (album) edit

Please explain why you consider this edit to be vandalism. As far as I can see an attempt to remove original research (as I explained in my edit summary) is anything but vandalism - it is an attempt to remove unencyclopedic content which is detrimental to the article's quality. Information on Wikipedia should be verifiable and notable - the lack of reliable sources in the Song Patterns section does not justify the section's existence. Thanks, Una LagunaTalk 21:54, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Look: the article is lacking information to begin with. Why take anything away? The quality of the article sucks anyways. And I'm sick of this "reliable source" crap. "it's not a reliable source. IT'S NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE!" Well take time out of ur day and find a "reliable source." Don't entirely delete the content in the article. Put a tag of somesort at the beginning of the section so that people know the section is under construction. --J miester25 (talk) 22:16, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This "crap" you refer to is basic Wikipedia policy. Please read WP:RS, WP:OR and all these other policies I link to - I don't just provide the links for fun. That's why I provide the links and say what I say - because it's Wikipedia's policy. It's how users decide what content should and should not be in a Wikipedia article. If you're sick of Wikipedia policy, then go complain at the relevant policy page.
WP:OR states, in the first paragraph, that "Wikipedia does not publish original research or original thought. This includes unpublished facts, arguments, speculation, and ideas; and any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position. This means that Wikipedia is not the place to publish your own opinions, experiences, arguments, or conclusions." It doesn't say "We'll allow original research if there's nothing else in the article" anywhere on the policy page. Unencyclopedic content is unencyclopedic content, regardless of what else is in the article.
If you think the Song Patterns section has encyclopedic merit, then provide a reliable source. I don't think the section has any encyclopedic merit as it is for the reasons discussed above; indeed I think the section is doing more harm than good - that's why I deleted it. Una LagunaTalk 10:03, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hey i'm not the one who originally put it up. I only reverted your edit. I'm not looking for a source. That's not my job. The person who originally put it up should look for a better source. Go complain to him, not to me. --J miester25 (talk) 22:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
My point is, that section is currently doing more harm than good and should be removed until the sources can be found. I'm discussing this with you because you're the one who reverted my attempt to remove the section. I want to reach a consensus to avoid an edit war. Given my explanation above, would you revert a second attempt to remove the section? Una LagunaTalk 11:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Killing Joke band members 1985.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Killing Joke band members 1985.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 18:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

When i uploaded the image, i got permission by an administrator from discogs.com to have free usage of any image under the band Killing Joke to be used in wikipedia. the image provides valuable information about the band and it should not be up for speedy deletion when i have permission to use the image. --J miester25 (talk) 04:56, 27 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (File:Killing Joke 2007.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Killing Joke 2007.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 18:35, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Exorcism (song) edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Exorcism (song), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: America (Killing Joke song). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of Exorcism (song) edit

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you.

Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Removing Speedy at Exorcism (song) edit

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Exorcism (song). If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:59, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Kings and Queens 7" A.jpg, File:Kings and Queens Knaves mix.jpg and File:Kings and Queens 7" B.jpg listed for deletion edit

Images that you uploaded or altered, File:Kings and Queens 7" A.jpg, File:Kings and Queens Knaves mix.jpg and File:Kings and Queens 7" B.jpg have been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 05:56, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why did you nominate those images for speedy deletion? I have special permission to use those images, as well as several other images from Discogs.com that are currently in use. Please remove those deletion tags. They are not in any copyright violation, for the administrators from that website gave me permission to post them on Wikipedia. --J miester25 (talk) 11:46, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
They are not nominated for speedy deletion but are listed for a week-long discussion. I have listed them for a deletion discussion as I do not believe that their inclusion here meets the 10 requirements for hosting copyrigted images. The copyright of the images is probably not owned by Discogs.com but by the original publisher. - Peripitus (Talk) 23:43, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
They are copyrighted by Discogs. The administrator who gave me permission told me specifically to list it under ownership of Discogs.com, primarily because they host the images. I only did what they have told me to do, so that I would not be fined for a legal infringement. --J miester25 (talk) 18:34, 20 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Do not revert AWB edits. edit

I have reverted all edits you've made reverting John Cardinal's AWB edits. You are only reverting back errors made to the infobox.--猛禽22 01:16, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

He should have never changed the tracklist color on the infobox. because the list is that of a studio album tracklist showing where the specific song is on that particular album, aside from the fact that it is a single, the color should corrispond with what kind of infobox that studio album has, in that a studio infobox. those specific sections that show the list should be blue for studio and red for EP. the rest of the infobox however, should be yellow like it already is because the information regards to the single release of the song. why is this incorrect? why were those changes made? and why have you reverted what i did, even though what i had should be the way it is. --J miester25 (talk) 02:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Again, he knows what he is doing, it is supposed to follow the same album color. Look at Smells Like Teen Spirit, a featured article.--猛禽22 20:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Killing Joke 1985.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Killing Joke 1985.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 02:49, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Killing Joke (1980 album) credits edit

Hi J miester25.
May I ask you where the writing credits for Killing Joke (1980 album) come from? My copies of the original 1980 album and the 2005 CD remastered edition both report "written and produced by Killing Joke". Also, why "Bloodsport" is not credited to Jaz Coleman? I know it is an instrumental piece, but this means nothing. I think this is very unlikely because of the synth lines featured on it and due to Coleman's massive participation to the process of creating their music.
All the best! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 12:40, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

-- Reasonable. To be honest, when I credited the songs, I had no true basis. Since Jaz does not sing in Bloodsport, I did not put his name down, but perhaps I should have considered it since there is synth work in it. You may edit it if you wish. Cheers! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
