Attention:

I am active on cs:wikipedia, and I'm reading this talk page only sometimes. If you have some urgent message, please, leave it on my cs talk page. If you have something about my bot, please leave diff or link, in other case I'll ignore your cries.

Bot in autonomous mode usually doesn't bigger changes (removing), only if is manually assisted, and in that case there was mixes interwiki.

Děkuji edit

Ahoj! Thanks for correcting the birth category of Miroslav Macek, I made a bit of a big mistake when writing that article so I appreciate you having rectified my error. Have a nice week! – Jared Preston 19:36, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

JanDbot's rename edit

Hi. I've renamed your bot account as requested. Sorry for the mixup, but if you had mentioned that it was indeed a bot account, linking the relevant discussion, it would have been granted immediately. We get a lot of requests that clearly cannot be carried out (such as using the term "bot" for a regular account), and we deny those immediately -- naturally yours was a different case, which is why I wish you had mentioned it. Anyway, it's all set now. Cheers, Redux 03:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ru-sib edit

Is it possible to modify bot so not to add ru-sib interwikies? Alex Bakharev 08:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is problem, because of another 249 languages. See User_talk:Alex_Bakharev#Blocking_of_JAnDbot. JAn Dudík 08:09, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sol edit

Sorry about the revert, I (stupidly) did not notice that. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 08:14, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just so you know edit

You had created a category called Category:Districts of Czech Republic Navigational boxes. I just moved all of the contents to here because the new cat fits the conventions used in the county subdivision templates cat. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 03:48, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Purpose? edit

It might nice if the bot either left a meaningful edit note, or include a description of wtf it does on the page, as it's not clear why this was done…--Belg4mit (talk) 20:03, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

DId you see the removed pages? bot removed non-disambiguations from disambiguation (or the other case). If you want to know why bot remove, you must see other languages. JAn Dudík (talk) 23:05, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand your answer. The Italian page for lemma exists and seems reasonable, but your bot removed the x-ref. --Belg4mit (talk) 01:21, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bot removed it:Lemma, because Lemma is disabiguation page, but the italian one is not. correct link is it:Lemma (disambigua). JAn Dudík (talk) 10:14, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Distracting district templates edit

In my opinion templates which list all cities/villages of a given Czech district are not very helful: they duplicate the much less intrusive and existing categories and they do distract the reader from the text. cs: and de: has them everywhere but this, IMHO, is not a reason to introduce them here. Noinclude mistake edit

Hi JAn Dudík. Same problem as above. Your bot made a mistake here, by not noincluding the interwiki. Thank you to fix the bot. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

In fact I see the bot has been messing up lots of templates with the same mistake. Please fix it before editing again or I will forced to block the bot. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:56, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Another bot mistake edit

Your bot is still removing links that it shouldn't. It removed the link to de:WP article on heraldic tinctures [2] without reason. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:28, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why would you remove valid inter-wiki links? edit

I think you bot is broken. See this change: [3] Both the Japanese and Russian links lead to articles on earthquake epicentres. Note: I have reverted your bot's edit as vandalism. Astronaut (talk) 01:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The japanese article has interwiki, which leads to Hypocenter. I am not able to recognize if it is true so I decided because of links from ja:.
The russian article is disambiguation.
JAn Dudík (talk) 21:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Another mistake edit

Your bot made another mistake in linking [4]. The page es:Monoica is not about the same subject as Monoicous. The English page is about reproduction in bryophytes, while the Spanish page is about division of sexes in flowers. There is no equivalent page to link to. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:24, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you want not to add this link, you must remove it from all languages including es:, or ask some bot-operator to do it. JAn Dudík (talk) 07:18, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
It is not my responsibility to make sure your bot functions properly. That is your job. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:31, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am not the only one bot operator. And this is not about proper function, bot works properly, only add link from another langage. You can simply ask please, remove ... from all languages. But read the initial spoiler please, I watch this page only sometimes... JAn Dudík (talk) 14:46, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I controlled all languages, but it seems all articles are about the same thing. But I am not biologist. Give me version with correct interwiki to all languages, and I'll spread it to other languages. JAn Dudík (talk) 17:52, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
There isn't one pagewhose links are correct for all languages. The articles are not all about the same thing. Some of them are about sexual differences in seed plants, others are about differences in bryophytes. The biological cause and expression is different for the two groups of plants. There are also some articles that seem to mix the two subjects. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:01, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your bot just added these links again. They are incorrect. Please keep your bot from adding them. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:27, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't. JAn Dudík (talk) 22:43, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

its removing links to spanish wikipedia edit

Many of the removed links to "es:" versions were wrong, other were right, I think your robot needs tweaking.

These removals are wrong. Those are the correct espanish versions of those pages [8][9] --Enric Naval (talk) 20:19, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

P.D.: I have found at least 20 instances of the same problem on 11 March . Your bot was removing correct links to spanish wikipedia, and probably portuguese wikipedia!! Here [10] it removed 3 links, 2 were to inexistent pages, but the spanish article existed

P.D.D.: Here it removed both spanish and portuguese links, but both exist correctly! [11][12]

P.D.D.D: Here, it removed correctly the spanish link, but deleted incorrectly the portuguese one [13][14][15]

Here, it removes the link correctly [16]

omfg, I already corrected 20 pages, I'll just let some automatic bot see the link to the english version on the spanish wiki and re-link it. It's too much work for me right now to do it by hand

--Enric Naval (talk) 20:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is problem with spanish articles which are in another namespace. I had to stop this removing since today. JAn Dudík (talk) 21:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

inappropriate edit to Death's-head Hawkmoth edit

The Spanish and Italian Wikipedias have it incorrect; there are THREE species of these moths, and in the English Wikipedia, Acherontia atropos has its OWN, separate article, which is where the "es:Acherontia atropos" link belongs; it does NOT belong in the Death's-head Hawkmoth article! There are several bots that keep trying to insert inappropriate cross-references from foreign-language wikis that DO NOT have separate articles for all three species of moths; please, if you can prevent your bot from attempting this edit again, it would be appreciated. Boolean algebra edit

Re this diff: that is not the correct interwiki. Boolean algebra (structure) is about a certain kind of algebraic structure; it is not about the subject called "Boolean algebra", which is what the simple English article is about. --Trovatore (talk) 19:48, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unexplained bot edit edit

I reverted http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cecil_Rhodes&diff=prev&oldid=211844544 The edit summary says (robot Removing: ro:Cecil Rhodes), but the bot did a LOT more than that, and there's no explanation of why. In particular, the list was in alphabetic order, and the bot rearranged the list into an order that is not obvious. Pdfpdf (talk) 09:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

And why is it that it is changing the order of the items in the list? Pdfpdf (talk) 10:48, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why did you remove an interwiki link in helipad? edit

Why did you remove "de:Hubschrauberlandeplatz" in this edit for the article helipad? —Lowellian (reply) 20:10, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Because there are Helipad and Heliport, but in de: is only one article. JAn Dudík (talk) 22:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I understand why you did it now. I feel, however, that though they may not strictly be the same, until the German Wikipedia has separate articles for helipads and heliports, it's not harmful and it's even helpful for the English helipad article to link to the German heliport article (since the German heliport does contain some information about helipads, which is something of a sub-topic of heliport). There's no reason correspondence between different-language wikis has to be necessarily one-to-one rather than two-to-one. —Lowellian (reply) 15:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Query edit

I need help renaming about 200 articles. Doing this by hand would take me all day.

Can your bot rename articles, or be adapted to do so?

If so, please contact me.

Helmholtz free energy interwiki edit

I've reverted your bot's removal of interwikis from Helmholtz free energy (diff). At least in the languages I could read, the articles were indeed about Helmholtz free energy, even if they prefer to just title it "free energy". It's just a matter of usage. Even in English, many people refer to Helmholtz free energy as just "free energy". --Itub (talk) 09:26, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

But there are two groups of articles and they were mixed. Not good... JAn Dudík (talk) 19:11, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yet another link wrongly removed edit

In this edit [20] your bot reomved the link to the article on the Danish Wikipedia. Perhaps it's time to fix the problems with this bot. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, at his time you are right, because there was mixed interwiki an when I choose from more possibilities, I can sometimes do mistake. I will now repair it. JAn Dudík (talk) 10:00, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect interwiki edit

For future reference, please note that liquefied petroleum gas is a different article to autogas, and articles about its use as a vehicle fuel, such as sco:Autogas belong as interwiki links in autogas, not liquefied petroleum gas. I've corrected the error made by your bot by moving the interwiki link to the correct article. --Athol Mullen (talk) 08:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pound & Race edit

Your bot removed a lot of interlangs in Pound (currency) and Race (classification of human beings). Most of them are valid interwiki, and your bot's edits seem to be incorrect. I reverted Pound (currency). Please make sure for your bot to be correct. --Masao 04:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Pound: There is problem that some articles are disambigs and other not. Bot cannot recognize, if it is correct or not.
Race: maybe it was valid, but there are articles Race (biology) and Breed, which contains interwiki to the same articles. Bot can work onlyin pages where is interwiki 1:1. When there are more links, it skips, so I tried to solve it. JAn Dudík (talk) 19:35, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Painting & Riksdag edit

It removed wikilinks in painting too. At least the German AND Dutch versions were perfectly ok. Stop your bot; until you repair it. Arnoutf (talk) 17:45, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is, as usually problem, with paintig as technic and painting as picture. I tried to solve it, but I can do mistakes. If you have better version, It's OK. JAn Dudík (talk) 18:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't operate the bot. The interwikis were valid.

It did remove interwiki links to Riksdag as well. Agreed they were to disambigs; but that is something to correct NOT remove. If the bot can't make the difference and therefore deletes, it is a bad bot and should be deactivated! (PS your own declaration on top "please leave diff or link, in other case I'll ignore your cries." is plain unacceptable, if your bot disfunctions, you should take the burden to manually sort through its logs and correct it, of course it is easier if people provide you with links; but that is a service to you, and cannot be a condition for reparing the mess your bot is making). Arnoutf (talk) 17:51, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bot cannot recognize, if disambig/not dismbig relation is valid. I must agree with removing this links, but if it was correct, simply revert it.
I want to leave diff, because many people say only "why bot removed interwiki" without sayin in which article, or it was so long ago, then I have problem to find it in history. JAn Dudík (talk) 18:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re disambig; agree that the bot cannot recognise it. But that means this is a task that CANNOT BE AUTOMATED and must be checked manually before it is done. It is not my task to run after your bot cleaning up the mess it makes, it is your task to disable the tasks that are creating the mess.
And another one Capital letter. Dutch has two articles (kapitaal), which both link to capital letter. However the English wiki did correctly link to one of the (kapitaal(hoofdletter)) which was changed to the other, incorrect article in Dutch wiki. You bot has serious problems as soon as something gets complicated and requires informed decisions. Arnoutf (talk) 18:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

There are two possibilities for me: check every page, which have some problem. Then I can do 5-10 pages per day and most of these problems will be never solved. Or remove it without massive control, then I can solve 100-200 problematic pages per day, with ~<5% possibility of make mistake.
When bot find some link to disambig, it asks, if may follow it or not. When I select yes, bot will follow all links from this page and will ask every new link. At the end it will add it to all languages. Or I can select no, bot will not follow, and will remove it.
Ask any other bot operator, what may to do.JAn Dudík (talk) 18:29, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
