- Thanks for the warm welcome! Grubber. Please could you give some ideas on what kind of content should be added to this page to make it WP ready?. I have spent a few hours trying to research the web. Using Google, Yahoo, MSN with multiple keyword combinations of kerala,card(s),game(s),fiftysix, twenty eight, club(s), etc. But my research has yielded litte results. I also have been speaking to a few friends and hence the item on Kunukku. I was thinking it would help to include at least some basic explantion of how the value 56 is calcuated based on the points carried by each card and the total number of cards. The earlier page used the images from the website which i guess is a violation of copyright? what if we get the permission of the copyright can we use them then? -- J9A10 01:37, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I'd be glad to help you. First, we have to establish that it deserves a wikipedia article. Does the card game exist outside of the website? Was it invented only for that site? Is it very popular? Is it well-known? If these kinds of questions cannot be answered, the article could be deleted. - Well to begin with let me say that J9A10 is not only a version of 56 but it generally represents the class of games which use the hierarchy J,9,A,10 these games are 28, 29, 56 and others in this class. The only reference to J9A10 i could find is on Pagat Guide. The other website which comes up when we search for J9A10 is PlayFiftySix but the site is down. -- J9A10 03:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

- I can be very certain that a significant number of people will continue to play the game offline even if the website closed. It is currently played by a large number of people across the world. This game originated in southern India in the state of Kerala and from there it has spread across the world. Reason: Kerala, a small and very beautiful state in India has a significantly large diaspora. (Please see the diaspora link). The people of Kerala origin are called Malayalis have a strong presence in the West Asia, U.S.A, U.K., continental Europe, Khazakstan(erstwhile USSR), and Africa. Hence, the game is not just a local India phenomenon but has a global following. It beats me as to why the Malayalis have not made enough websites or references to these games online. If i browse through discussion groups i see references to all the variants of J9A10 (Fifty Six, Twenty Nine, Twenty Eight) but no specific sites or content that talks about the game in detail. The game may not be as popular as Poker but is surely as exciting. Having played the game i can say that it is a game if one gets hooked on to would be very hard to give up. - J9A10 20:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I put almost a full day! of research on this today. The first few hours were really frustrating search of the web which brought me to the conclusion that we need a better search engine than Google! Finally, i made a lot of phone calls to players who i know have been playing this game for over 15-20 years. The final compilation of my research is on the page now. Look forward to your comments. OK, well good job on the research. Make sure you read WP:OR, which discusses something we can "original research" or "OR". OR is when you do research and the article is the result of your research. Wikipedians dont like that. They would prefer that an article be based on already exisiting research, that way it can be verified.
