Foreign language sources

Hi, not that it's my source, but has the edit this bloke made here correct? As I've seen lots of foreign language sources. Ryan4314 (talk) 12:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Well it is important, but not important enough to me to go and find a source in English lol, can't every1 just use Babel fish dammit? Ryan4314 16:56, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Dammit! you're right. Also I wonder if u could help me with something. I went to the Royal Free Hospital the other day, and I remember the article not having any pictures, so I snapped some. I want to add them to the article, are there any pot holes I should be aware of? P.S I know about adding "my own work" tags etc Ryan4314 17:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh yea I'm fine, my partner was having an operation. LOL hence why my photos will be of the outside of the building and not the in. Howz ur admin coaching going? Ryan4314 18:15, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry if this appears to be really random and makes absolutely no sense. But what it basically means is, I've seen you around on Wikipedia for quite a while now, and I would like to do my bit by nominating you for adminship. — Rudget contributions 18:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Editor review

Just wanted to mention; if you ever need some help, feel free to yell at me, if you can get past the blinding-green colour scheme. :) However, I'm by no means a substitute for Ryan, haha. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 05:30, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Editor review

How bizarre, I was bored today and I signed up for that editor review u mentioned ages ago. So loh and behold I put my name on the list, and whose name do I see just below mine? yours! What an odd coincidence! Well anyway it's there if u wanna read it Ryan4314 (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Wow, you kicked the crap out of the History of timekeeping, nice job. Also, didn't know u was into computer games, cool. Ryan4314 (talk) 22:54, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, great work with History of timekeeping - I couldn't believe the difference you made - stick to article writing, you're fantastic at it! Ryan Postlethwaite 22:56, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Totally, he just grabbed timekeeping round the throat and rammed all that info down it! I love RTS, especially old skool ones, altho I can't play red alert 2 with my mate any more as he's got vista boo. Ryan4314 (talk) 00:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Are you gonna add one of those editor review stickers to ur user page? Seems like an invitation for vandals if u ask me. Ryan4314 (talk) 00:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
pshhh I'll archive it in January. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan4314 (talkcontribs) 01:07, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Oi!

Oi! Is this allowed? Or is this admin just a fan of Brian Haw? I'm allowed to say that on a talk page aren't I? Could u ask some of your admin buddies about it plz? Ryan4314 (talk) 18:44, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

That RFA

Hey, thanks for noticing. I try to help out the new guys who happen to wander into RFA instead of "punching them in the face" as The Rambling Man puts it. Anyway, thanks again. Useight (talk) 04:03, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Blind users

You asked in a recent AfD if blind users could read a text description - I don't know if you were being tongue-in-cheek, but the answer is yes, thanks to the availability of accessibility software. Just thought you'd like a heads up : ) - Chardish (talk) 04:50, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Your edit at Mercury's MFC

Would you please consider striking this comment? It's needlessly provocative, and considering that Mercury could lose his tools as a result of the discussion, a little decorum is appropriate. Horologium (talk) 03:13, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting my RFA

<font=3> Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 62/0/0 yesterday!

I want to thank Snowolf and Dincher for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and since you are reading this, I haven't yet deleted your talk page by accident!). Please let me know if there is anything I can do to be of assistance, and keep an eye out for a little green fish with a mop on the road to an even better encyclopedia.

Thanks again and take care, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:34, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

RE:The worst has come

Send the women and children into the caves, raise the walls of Gondor, Elrond has promised reinforcements, but they have not yet come. I will building Space Marines from our War Factories. A group of tanks will be coming from the east in five hours. Right now we only have three hundred men and the vandals have 10,000. Already I have slewn sixteen with my Steel 2 handed broadsword using mythril armor and the Master Scroll and Princess Ring relics while casting Ultima almost every round. I am running low on MP, do you have any Hi-Ethers I can borrow. I also hear Dfrg.msc will be leading a couple of tanks to take the Reichstag, goof luck to him. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marlith (talkcontribs) 05:16, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

User: Arzel

After you previously warned Arzel about a 3RR violation, he made the same edit once again [1]. His argument appears to be that this doesn't constitute a 3RR violation since he believes that BLP is the issue. However, I don't think he's established that a fact about George Romney's 1968 campaign is somehow a reflection on Mitt Romney's 2008 campaign, or in fact any kind of reflection on Mitt at all. George has been dead since 1995, so how could this be BLP? I make my case further here. [2] I would appreciate any comment/input/action you deem appropriate. Thank you. Length of footnotes?

Hi, I added a 4 line brief summary called the "The Saur Revolution" to the Civil war in Afghanistan article. Then a user called Bejnar added a good referenced footnote here, however I think it's a bit long for a footnote and as I can't read the reference I don't know if it's neutral copy. Is it to long for a footnote, bearing in mind there is actually a main article he could add to? Ryan4314 (talk) 08:56, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

So I have a "go" for trimming the footnote? Ryan4314 (talk) 16:34, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Yea yea that's what I meant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryan4314 (talkcontribs) 16:54, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Question

Stan can I ask you a question, without getting told off, as I am honestly nieve about the subject? Ryan4314 (talk) 11:45, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Right, well it's a long one. I was going through your talk page (coz u archive like crazy now lol) looking for a little chat we had a while ago about sources in foreign languages (never did find it). And I noticed some guy called Horologium suggesting you remove a comment you made on something, being that Wikipedia is the bastion of free-speech (lol I know it's not rly) I was quite interested, so I click on the link and I get an Error message, I just assumed the guy had shaved the end of the addy off (I do it all the time). But the link looked fine, so I search "Mercury" as a user name and I come across "page blanked as a courtesy". Now I'm intrigued, so I go through the history (as the article suggested) and I'm able to assess (I think) that Mercury was an admin, who made a "big mistake", left and it had something to do with with a women who helped make Wikipedia. Can you tell me what happened please? :) Ryan4314 (talk) 17:31, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Yea you see this is why I didn't understand it, wtf is a ANI and a Arbcom? How comes there is an Angela Beesley article now? "steward to desysop him", this means he voluntarily asked to have his tools taken away right? How did Durova accidentally block some1? (are we talking slip of a button here). Yea I can understand why he chucked it in to become a normal editor again, since I did that editor review and tried a couple of AFD's I really lost a lot of love for wikipedia. Wished I'd never done and was still oblivious to the behind the scenes work. Ryan4314 (talk) 19:14, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean, a smaller wiki? Ryan4314 (talk) 11:19, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Protections

You're welcome, and thanks for the compliment! Whenever I've seen your name at RFPP, I've seen an accurate report, so I am happy to answer your requests. :) For the record, I decided on a month's worth of semi-protection on July 18 rather than indefinite, but, as I said on RFPP, we'll see how it goes after the month. :) Acalamari 23:45, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Glad you're pleased with the decision. :) Acalamari 02:38, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: AfD

Redirecting the page to the district is fine, I have no problem with that. I ended up deleting it since I agreed with those that said there was nothing to merge over those that wanted it merged, and I didn't just think to redirect it rather than merge it myself upon closing it. GFDL compliance

I am conserd that you are copying text from various articles and adding it to history of timekeeping without saying on you edit summery who wrote the text. This is important because the GFDL 1.2 the license that all Wikipedia content is available under requires this. I suggest you make some sort of citation on the talk page regarding the artiles you copied. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 18:54, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, you are copying other Wikipedia articles written by other people. The copyright of Wikipedia articles is not owned by the Wikimedia foundation but by the authors. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 03:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I am not saying you are doing a bad job writing articles. In fact I like the fact that you are writing as opposed to just reverting and discussing. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 03:34, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I would advise you to revert the copied edits and then revert them stating that you copied and pasted from [[specify article copied from]] on the edit summaries. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 00:36, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Good job. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 21:29, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Sasuke Uchiha

Thank you for your help, as I am new to Wikipedia. I concur that it is not vandalism, but he has been warned before and I issued a level 2 edit warning. My only concern was that the information might have been valuable, even if it needed a rewrite. Thanks! --τις (talk) 16:55, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

give me a break, will ya

I am trying my hardest to fix, this page.

I realized that I had to go back and add the links, however you did not grant me an opportunity before you marked the page for deletion.

Now, I have no idea how to get this deletion off the page and I have no desire to read countless pages of instructions to do so.
