Hi, would you be so kind as to give us support! edit

Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. I've just read your profile and I understood that you're an Irishman (I wish I can visit your wonderful country some time soon!), so you understand what are a minorized language and culture and maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... I'm a member of a Catalan association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter but this hasn't been approved up to that moment. We would appreciate your support, visible if you stick this on your first page: Wikimedia CAT. Supporting us will be like giving equal opportunity to minorized languages and cultures in the future! Thanks again, wishing you a great summer, take care! Keep on preserving your great culture, country, music and language! Slán agat! Capsot (talk) 23:05, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Help required with 'pin coordinates' edit

You seem to be familiar with this issue. I'm sure I've been told before, but can't remember. How are pin coords obtained for Irish place infoboxes? I am at a bit of a loss in completing data at Marlfield, Clonmel. Thanks in advance. RashersTierney (talk) 10:34, 20 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply at my TP. I'm still not sure how to find 'pin coords' as in this example for Clonmel
  • "| pin coords = left: 64px; top: 102px".
(You can reply here, I have your page on my watch list) RashersTierney (talk) 15:27, 20 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Just look up the location on Google Maps, and then place the pin coords roughly where the area is. You should try two numbers (X Left, Y Top) and then "Show Preview" to check if it is in the right location, if it is than save.

Your ranking of Irish mountain elevations. edit

You ranked Kippure as the 73rd highest mountain in Ireland and Two Rock as the 382nd highest. Where do you get the ranking data from? It would be nice if you had supplied references when you wrote these additions to the two articles, but I want to look at the ranking tables myself, out of interest. Thank you. --O'Dea (talk) 21:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Redmonds GAA edit

A tag has been placed on Redmonds GAA requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. August 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Redmonds GAA, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Codf1977 (talk) 11:02, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Templates edit

I am not sure if I can do this. I have amended templates, but have not started any. I will play aorund with this for a few days to see if I can do something. They are in place for many counties so should not be too difficult. Pmunited (talk) 13:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

South Tipperary interest edit

You seem to have taken an interest in South Tipperary so might be interested in participating in the discussion on the creation / deletion of Tipperary categories taking place now at Splitting Dublin. No obligation. Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:39, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

New articles edit

Hey there; can I ask you use properly formatted footnotes, please? Drop me a note if you need any help; regards, Ironholds (talk) 16:41, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced additions edit

Hi. I reverted your edit as you added unsourced information into the article and kept the source already there when it didn't back up what you added. The source was the 2006 preliminery report, your stats are for 2009. As you have been told before looking above, please add in sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources) or it will be reverted - for now i'll add citation needed tags. Mabuska (talk) 12:40, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mabuska, the CSO report (the last link) is for 2009, it states the county's area (in hectares) and also all other county's in Ireland (so you can remove citation needed for that) and it states clearly the 2009 births and deaths in Cavan (below industrial output), if you were to look at it. --Ire2500 (talk) 14:14, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

And also, the preliminary report link was not mine, it was there already and did not have anything to do with my sources or edits --Ire2500 (talk) 14:17, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I know the 2006 link is not yours, you worded your addition around it. As it dealt with 2006 and your additions where to do with 2009 its now redundant anyways. Sources need to be attributed to the end of the statements made not just lumped at the bottom of the article with no description or anything. You should add the following into the article after your additions: <ref>[http://www.yoursource.com] - Title of source</ref> - make sure to use the "[" and "]" as that makes it a link. Though if you did read Wikipedia:Citing sources which has been pointed out to you by me and someone else above you'd already know that. Mabuska (talk) 17:06, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cloughoughter Castle edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Cloughoughter Castle, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.irelandseye.com/aarticles/travel/attractions/castles/clogough.shtm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Navan O'Mahoneys The information seems to have been copied & pasted from another site. I cannot find a home page for the club, though this looks like something that would appear there. I think instead of deleting this, perhaps we would put the info in better format, deleting the parts that are not needed. The only problem is that we have no outside source to verify the information Pmunited (talk) 02:30, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. When you recently edited Meath Senior Football Championship 2010, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oldcastle (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sugar Loaf edit

Hi Ire2500. You uploaded a picture of the Little Sugar Loaf and called the file "Small Sugar Loaf from Summit". Can I ask you, from the summit of what? I presume it's from the summit of the Great Sugar Loaf, but I though I'd ask before going ahead and clarifying the description. Thanks. — O'Dea (talk) 22:26, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

WT:GAA edit

Hello there, I'm contacting editors who have recently contributed to this project page to let you know about an ongoing discussion to do with the naming and categorisation of GAA counties, teams and players. If you'd like to give an opinion this would be very welcome. Many thanks! Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 08:44, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge edit

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:41, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Joe Brady (hurler) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joe Brady (hurler) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. `~HelpingWorld~` (👽🛸) 16:54, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
