Citations necessity

Wikipedia says citations necessary for contentios claims and personal stuff. Stuff which is not contentious and easily verifiable doesn't absolutely need citing Gigi D Agostino even has his Wikipedia page with links to the song I don't know how to link to a YouTube video I saw. Taking my comment down is censorship with no need and potentially spoiling peoples enjoyment of facts. You should only take down if you have some suspicion of incorrect data. If you are unsure you can simply let someone else who knows more edit out errors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.20.240.120 (talk) 14:19, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

Since no one has responded yet, I'll go ahead and tell you what I know. You got the information from somewhere, so can we also know where you go it, so we will know it was true. Everything needs to be verifiable, so we'll know you didn't just make it up. Some articles are patrolled better than others. And anyone has the right to remove unsourced information.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:22, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Your help desk question

Did you find the answer to this question? You seem very experienced about this sort of thing so I assume you know they answer these questions on WP:VPT. At least I think so. I gave someone incorrect advice yesterday about another of the village pumps.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:18, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

WP:CRV, WP:V, WP:BLP, WP:VAN, WP:PROMO, and WP:NPOV

Are those links really useful? Imagine being a newcomer, making an edit that gets reverted, then seeing all those links as “help”. I think you’d be better off answering questions individually instead of having that there. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 03:21, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

I made it more specific so people don't have to waste time reading policies that do not apply to their reverted edit. I believe it's useful because it's a quick answer to their questions (asking me specifically takes more time as school/sleeping exists) interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 22:22, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Your revert

You reverted [1], suggesting that it should go to AfD instead. AfD is not relevant because I didn't say the article should be deleted, I said it should be redirected.

I feel like opening an AfD or RfD for this would be overkill, because it's already obvious that this and similar articles shouldn't be articles. They're completely in-universe and make zero claim to notability, so they shouldn't be articles; this is basic Wikipedia 101 stuff (don't assume that just because I'm editing from an IP I don't understand how WP works). I started going through these The Wire character articles and redirecting all the ones that have no real-world notability information whatsoever (I was using a very low bar for this, if an article had even one thing that's not in-universe I didn't redirect it). If you really object, then we can open a grouped RfD for all these articles, but to me it seems like a waste of time because I don't even see any remotely plausible argument for keeping these. 61.18.156.43 (talk) 00:27, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

I believe WP:BLANK still applies here. Also, redirecting is a possible outcome at AfD, so you could just state you want the article redirected instead of deleted. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 00:38, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
I stand corrected about the deletion. Anyway, I still believe AfD would be a waste of time, so my first choice now would be to just PROD each one of these articles (with a note saying it can be replaced with a redirect instead of actually deleted). But if you don't agree with redirecting them then the PROD would just turn into an AfD anyway, so if that's the case then we can skip that step and go directly to AfD. So I guess what I'm asking is, if I went through and put a PROD on each of these articles now, would you contest them? If so, I can just go straight to AfD. 61.18.156.43 (talk) 00:41, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
I probably won't. After I got your message I looked at the articles and noticed that the article on Stan only had 3 sources, and the article on Kenard didn't have a single reference. I tagged them, but feel free to PROD away. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 00:46, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
K, will do. Just a heads up, after that I'm probably also going to go around removing and tagging a bunch of non-free images I noticed in these and related pages (if these pages end up getting redirected then those images will be orphaned anyway, but there also are some non-free images on the "list of X characters on The Wire" type pages that also need to be removed). 61.18.156.43 (talk) 00:50, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Regarding these articles, I put them up for PROD but there were some objections, so I opened a discussion at [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Fictional characters#Redirecting articles on [mostly] minor The Wire characters]]. Just letting you know in case you want to comment; no pressure to get involved if it's not your thing. 61.18.156.43 (talk) 03:38, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
I don't usually respond to deletion requests but I may. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 14:28, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Sean “Old Stinky” Payton

Greetings friend, I am a Saints Super-fan and Love Sean Payton with all my heart. You said my updating of his nickname was not cited properly so I will find you the correct info. You must not be a big saints fan, because that’s what we all call him down in Louisiana! 216.237.228.127 (talk) 00:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

If you can find a reliable source (see WP:SOURCE and WP:QS for info on how to distinguish a non-reliable source from a reliable one) about this, then go ahead. I don't believe your changing of the link was constructive, though. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 00:46, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for fixing vandalism on the Charles Beaumont page. 𝕸𝖗 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖑𝖊 (talk) 15:39, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi there. I noticed you'd added yourself as an adopter. Thanks for that. You might want to consider stating or clarifying your active time in UTC, as your 3-7pm is probably very different to mine any many other people's. Are you only wanting to adopt people in pairs? I assume not, but your text does read rather like that's what you meant, so maybe that's worth looking at, too. Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 19:39, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

2022 All Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships

Hello, I received your message about sourcing of my 2022 All Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships articles. I have added some sources including independent ones. Could you please remove it from Draft?

Thank you very much!

Have a nice days! NguyenDuyAnh1995 (talk) 00:08, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

You can adopt me

Hi Thankyou for thanking my 2edits. GentBeaus69 (talk) 00:08, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Sure. Just please don't use that template here, as it makes people think I want to be adopted, which I don't. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 00:41, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
GentBeaus69 has been blocked for sockpuppetry, FYI. DanCherek (talk) 16:54, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
Kk. I'll remove the fact that I've adopted him. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 18:50, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Tulsa Basketball Edit

Hey there, sorry i didnt explain why. I deleted all that because Frank haith is no longer the head basketball coach and the information is not relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.190.115.24 (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Saguaro

You made a mistake by removing my edit on Saguaro. You are nicer than all of the other people that work for Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by THE SAGUARO IS THE BEST CACTUS (talkcontribs) 15:33, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Herne Bay High School - Heartstopper

Hello. I am removing your mention of Herne Bay High School as a filming location for Heartstopper as unfortunately neither of your references are factually correct. This series was not filmed at the school (although some scenes were filmed in the town), and the media have been misreporting this.Pedantrycorner (talk) 17:49, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

What is a live edit?

See title. Apparently you need at least 10 of these to vote in the Arbitration Committee elections, but I don't know what its difference is from a regular edit. interstatefive  (talk) - just another roadgeek 23:42, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

I didn't know, so I asked the experts. Please see answer at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Definition of "live edit". — Maile (talk) 01:52, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

(edit conflict)

The difference between a 'live edit' and a 'deleted edit' is mostly that the page(s) with the deleted edits have been deleted subsequent to your edit to them. This can happen for a number of reasons: you placed a speedy delete request on a page, you edited a page that was later send to AfD, your perhpas your edit got mixed up in a page with copyrighted content and a whole range of edits were revdeled even though the page itself was not deleted. According to the edit counter tool, you have more than 2800 live edits. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:59, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
