Speedy deletion nomination of ABA Bank (Advanced Bank of Asia Ltd.) edit

Hello Igor Zimarev,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged ABA Bank (Advanced Bank of Asia Ltd.) for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. JamesG5 (talk) 05:15, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Igor, if the speedy delete is declined you should take a look at WP:COI. Your LinkedIn shows you're an officer at the bank and Wikipedia rules require you to disclose this. That will help make sure your articles aren't challenged. Let me know if I can help! JamesG5 (talk) 05:19, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Dear JamesG5, thanks for your suggestion. I am indeed the Marketing officer of ABA and I am responsible for adding the info about ABA to Wikipedia. In my article, I use certain third-party resources and verification articles, videos. What is wrong with it? What else should I provide in order to get the page published (not deleted)? Igor Zimarev (talk) 05:20, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Igor. I nomed this for speedy delete because a page for the bank was created last year & after discussion it was decided not to keep the page. It may be reconsidered now, if the reviewing admins disagree with me they might keep it or might put it up for discussion. One thing that is required is that you disclose any conflicts of interest on articles you create or edit. For an example, see this user's page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kimmalki, and a talk page for an article she created https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Frederick_Ghahramani . Making sure to add that information (see WP:COI for more info) will help avoid challenges for your work. Visit my Talk page and let me know if you have any questions, if I can't answer them I'll point you to more help. JamesG5 (talk) 05:55, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Re:ABA Bank edit

I'll take you points as raised on the talk page, so as to hit them all in order.

First off is the matter of notability. All articles on site have to meet Wikipedia's standard for notability to be included here, otherwise they risk deletion. The notability standards are listed at Wikipedia:Notability, with certain project maintaining supplementary notability guidelines to better cover there particular subjects. In the case of your bank, there is no apparent notability given under the current guidelines for your bank. In the case of the version I deleted specifically, there was also an additional issue in that you had a long list of information for your bank which I presume was meant to show some notability, however it had the inadvertent affect of putting the article square in the cross hairs of another policy on article content called What Wikipedia in not; specifically, Wikipedia is not a collection of indiscriminate information. And you're right about Vattanac Bank, having looked at the article its cannon fodder as well, and will be tagged for deletion momentarily.

That brings us to the issue of the Conflicts of Interest. We generally frown on people who edit on behalf of a group, although this frown is reduced when an editor declare that he or she has a conflict of interest. While declaring a conflict of interest helps your case insofar as people will know that in the future this account has a vested interest in seeing certain articles kept and/or maintained a certain way, it doesn't really have much bearing on the ABA Bank article in this case due to the ABA bank AFD. That afd brings us to the heart of the current problem: having been deleted by community consensus, the article ABA Bank is now considered ineligible for inclusion on Wikipedia at or near its deleted version. In order for the article to return, a superior version must be created from scratch that uses little if any of the original given written material. You can retain the sources, but the article as it existed previously can not come back, if it is reposted - as was the case when I found it - the it comes under the criteria for speedy deletion, specifically G4 deletion which covers the recreation of material deleted by AFD and reposted at or near its deleted version.

Now while that may sound discouraging, you can still recreate the article provided that notability can be established and a new version substantially different from the deleted version is built from scratch. Since you are fairly new to the process, and as you've witnessed the process can be brutally to newcomers, I would recommend creating the new article in Wikipedia's draft space. This will allow you to solicit feedback from veteran editors who will make sure that the article meets notability standards and is compliant with other policies and guidelines before heading out into the article space.
