Hello - in response to your messages on my talk page, I generally remove external links when I see that they are in violation of WP:SPAM guidelines. In this case, links to the same site were added to more than one article, and there were no other unrelated edits from the account. This makes it seem that the person adding the link is here to promote that website. Adding links to websites you maintain or are otherwise affiliated with is frowned upon.

Also, the content that you added along with one of the links was not appropriate for the article itself. If you'd like to discuss an article, it should be done on the article's discussion (talk page). See WP:Talk pages for more information about talk page usage.

External links should be used sparingly - Wikipedia needs more cited content from reliable sources, not more external links. If you feel that a particular link is useful to a particular article, try mentioning it on the article's talk page. If other regular editors agree, then there will be a consensus backing the link. --AbsolutDan (talk)

Here is the primary guideline regarding external links: WP:EL

In response to this message [1] on my talk page , I wish I had the time to remove all the inappropriate links that are scattered about Wikipedia. Most times it's all I can do to keep up with links that are added to articles going forward on the 1,400+ articles on my watchlist. I seldom have the time to review the existing external links. You asked "where can I go?" - you can go to the edit button. If there are inappropriate links, please feel free to remove them. If you think any are questionable, feel free to raise the matter on the article's talk page, and eventually someone else will see your message and review them as well. Many articles considered to be the "best of the best" (featured articles) have zero external links! --AbsolutDan (talk) 04:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You have run into "Absolute" Dan - His rules are ABSOLUTE! Good luck getting anything more posted. He hates all things commercial. He can't believe there is anything worthwhile to link to on a commercial page EVEN THOUGH there are exceptions in Wikipedia's rules. --216.163.76.131 00:40, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The above message is not appropriate. If you have issues with my edits, please discuss them with me. If you feel that I am doing something wrong, please take other steps in the dispute resolution process (see Wikipedia:Resolving disputes). Thank you. --AbsolutDan (talk) 12:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
