account block edit

I have blocked your account as the username is too similar to that of existing user Yamamoto Ichiro (talk · contribs). If you are not attempting to impersonate him, then please leave a note here and I will unblock you. --Ixfd64 07:40, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Account Block edit

Thank you for your concern, however, I am not impersonating anyone.

Although my US legal name isn't Ichiro Yamato, it is my Japanese name, and have used it within many different forums and games. That is the reason why I continue to use this name.

Sorry for all the confusion with possible account impersonation.

  • I've assumed good faith and removed the block on your account. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'll let Yamamoto Ichiro know that you're not an impersonator. --Ixfd64 07:46, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion edit

I would recommend filing a request at Wikipedia:Changing username so you can avoid further problems and keep your edits. — Mar. 3, '06 [07:47] <freakofnurxture|talk>

  • Thank you for your concern. However, this name has been with me for more than 5 years, so in my opinion, changing my username doesn't seem that rational to me.

  • It seems that these names are actually quite distinct. This would be like banning a person based on having the name "Schmidt" when a user already was using "Smith." This ban might be a bit excessive. My 2 cents.Kukini 17:00, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Thanks for understanding. And yes, you are right. Yamamoto and Yamato have 1 different Kanji, hence different "meanings". Ichiro Yamato 03:06, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your name edit

Your Chinese name does not make sense, given your Japanese name. A strange dichotomy, this. Yamato is probably the most Japanese name ever, and "思华" is as (American) Chinese as a name can get. ;) -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 00:18, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I can understand what you mean by that. They're pretty different. However, I would say my Chinese name retains the Chinese spirit, as my grandfather, who gave me that name, would say. Needless to say, since my grandfather was once the head of the economic development of the Guangzhou area, I don't think my name is weird, but rather symbolic. 思 gives the meaning to think of, to remember, and 华 is part of the phrase 华人, which means the Chinese people. My grandfather gave me this name: to remember and think about the Chinese people. Oh, and my Japanese came about when my Japanese relatives helped me come up with one while I was in 7th grade. I chose the name Ichiro from the silly, numerous Japanese name websites, because I am the eldest son of my family. (I also liked the sound of the name.) Yamato came about when I was at my relatives' house, playing Starcraft. Unfortunately, my cousins wanted to play Fastest Map Possible maps, so I eventually beat them with a fleet of 20+ Battlecruisers. I destroyed their last buildings with Yamato Gun, so since it seemed like a surname in their opinion, they dubbed me with that and it has stayed since then. Interesting. But I do not remember seeing a Japanese person with the surname Yamato... Yamamoto seems to be the closest in English but they're completely different in Kanji... Oh I personally prefer Protoss... hehe. If it was me in your story my name would probably be Alexei Corsair... haha. I still remember that when Brood War first came out the Carrier + Corsair combo was invincible... -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 04:40, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I personally prefer Protoss too. Most of my strategies are for Protoss-users. I would say Terran is not that good of a match for me; I had used them only because the map was Fastest Possible. (I still have much to learn from my two SC expert friends.) Ichiro Yamato 22:36, 29 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
