Question from Drew Stanley (18:27, 13 February 2024) edit

How can I insert a picture? --Drew Stanley (talk) 18:27, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley To oversimplify, by inserting File:Example.jpg where you want the picture. Adding "|thumb" before the closing brackets will shrink the image to a reasonable size; adding "|caption=" allows you to add a caption. Help:Files can explain further. I inserted a picture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Józef_Warszawski should it say caption= in the caption? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drew Stanley (talkcontribs) 04:51, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley   Sorry! Turns out, the "caption=" part isn't needed. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Drew Stanley (23:43, 16 February 2024) edit

Hello, i had another question. How can I make the titles of every section the same font sizes? --Drew Stanley (talk) 23:43, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley This is done with equal signs. Section titles are done with two equal signs on each side, like this:
==Section title==
Subsection titles are done with three equal signs, like this:
===Subsection title===
And on down the line. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:35, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Maia is cool123 (02:02, 21 February 2024) edit

Can I make edits of me being cool 😁 --Maia is cool123 (talk) 02:02, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Maia is cool123 Wikipedia is a serious endeavor because people rely on the website to start off their research. Please joke around on other websites actually made for that; might I suggest TikTok or a similar website.   Thank you. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:06, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from HaileyAlver (04:34, 23 February 2024) edit

Hello there, I'm interested in Juche. Is there a way i can create my own Wikipedia article? --HaileyAlver (talk) 04:34, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@HaileyAlver Likely not; it's incredibly rare to qualify for an article (here's how but it's not always a good thing!) I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 08:47, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Drew Stanley (18:56, 22 February 2024) edit

How do i prevent a citation from showing up twice in the reference list? i noticed some articles reuse citations --Drew Stanley (talk) 18:56, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley You give the reference a "name" the first time it appears in the article (so, <ref name=whatever> Reference here </ref> ) and then use the name (<ref name=whatever />) for the other occurrences. It's actually easier to do this using visual editor; you can just push a couple of buttons ("cite" and then "reuse") after you or someone else puts in the source. You can learn more about that here. It's one of the few things visual editor is actually good at. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:14, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
thanks this was helpful and will try this next time — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drew Stanley (talkcontribs) 16:13, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ozziepip (07:43, 24 February 2024) edit

I am the primary in the extraction of a 125 year old time capsule on 3/3/2024. I have full details of the contents & proof it is in place. I am struggling with what to do next. Queensland, Australia --Ozziepip (talk) 07:43, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Ozziepip If this is something that qualifies for an article, you can request an article, posting all sources or write a sourced draft. Otherwise, you can't do anything on Wikipedia. In fact, even if it does qualify for an article, you might not want one after all. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:44, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Quick question to my mentor edit

Hi!

The draft of Jordi Urbea has been up for more than 6 weeks I believe, so exceeded the time it says. Is this normal? When will I have news on if it is approved or not for publishing? Is there something I can do to accelerate the process?

Thank you in advance! Fsentthecookie (talk) 11:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Fsentthecookie I've seen drafts stay up for three months when the backlog is at it's most severe; it just depends on how many volunteers are available. There's nothing you can to accelerate it. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:33, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
