David Whitfield

Regarding your recent edit concerning the song "Answer Me". If you care to read the song's article and the accompanying "Answer Me, My Love", you will see that Frankie Laine did record the English version first. So Whitfield's effort was a cover version. The fact that Whitfield got to #1 first in the UK Singles Chart is irrevelant to which was the cover. I am from Kingston upon Hull, like Whitfield, so I have 'insider knowledge'! Yeah, but

The summary of your edit to New Zealand English said -- ' Removed reference to "maroon" as it was completely incorrect and unreferences. It is pronounced the same in Britain and Australia, and it is always spelt "maroon".' I'm not sure how you can be so sure it is not pronounced "morone" in parts/s of Australia. It sure is in parts of NZ and has been for a very, very long time. Moriori (talk) 05:48, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Actually I meant the opposite, it is pronounced marone nearly always (according to the Macquarie Dictionary, it is "marohn"), my main point was it's *always* spelt maroon, and never marone. Either way, it was totally unreferenced and it was something that as an Australian I feel is untrue in my personal experience, so I removed it. If you have a problem with what was Australia's national anthem then please find an authoritative source that is more authoritative than the Australian government source in God Save the Queen. The Australian Government source in the article says "The official anthem was ‘God Save the Queen’ (or ‘King’) from 1788 to 1974", not "1901 to 1974".[1] Opinions of Wikipedia editors do not trump verifiable, authoritative source. --AussieLegend (✉) 14:43, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
