Disambiguation link notification for January 10 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Theodor W. Adorno, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Revisionism and Pleasure principle (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Welcome and a few notes edit

Welcome to Wikipedia! I for one hope that you'e able to continue helping us to improve the Encylopedia by bringing over material that isn't well covered in English but is in German. A number of our German topics (e.g. Friedrich Schiller) are not very well or accurately covered. I'm also a graduate of Freiburg, so I wish you well in that way as well :-).

When editing here (as opposed to on German Wikipedia) there are a few things to keep in mind that could lead to outcomes like that at Continental Germanic Mythology. English Wikipedia tends to be more strict about inline sourcing - that is, providing a citation for statements found in the text rather than listing sources at the end. This is to help with WP:Verifiability, as anyone can theoretically check whether a statement like "Berchta was originally a title of Frijja" is true at the source in question. The nature of the sources is important as well, see WP:reliable sources. German Wikipedia tends to be less strict about this, and will often simply list sources at the end of the article without inline citations at all. English Wikipedians believe that this increasing the possibility that false information has been introduced, as it cannot be traced to a specific book or author. They also worry about WP:original research and wp:synthesis.

What this means is that when translating from German Wikipedia to English Wikipedia, you may need to do extra work and figure out the sources of information for individual statements, especially if they might be challenged. If necessary, you may need to remove some material or rewrite it to conform more closely to what sources say. A good example of an article translated to English WP from German WP is Ancient Celtic women. It has numerous inline citations and even has gone through several talk page debates about specific points from the German article.

I hope this information is helpful! Mach's gut und viel Erfolg noch!--Ermenrich (talk) 15:10, 10 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
